Connie Han - Live from Jazz St. Louis

- With the release of her 2018 Mack Avenue Music Group debut, Crime Zone, pianist Connie Han seized the attention of the jazz world and firmly established herself as a fast-rising star on the scene. That stratospheric ascent continues her captivating follow-up, “Iron Starlet,” released in April of 2020.
One listens to “Iron Starlet” is ample evidence that the 23-year old is every bit an armor-clad talent as the name implies. Her powerful vision takes in the full evolution of her forbearers, from iconic innovators like McCoy Tyner and Hank Jones through the Young Lion revolution spearheaded by the Marsalis Brothers, Kenny Kirkland, and Jeff “Tain” Watts, among others.
“Watch out for Connie Han, the face (and shape) of jazz to come.” - All About Jazz - Hudba
I heard her music for the first time today; Oct 7, 2022. I became an instant fan.
Ditto. But a few months later: Dec. 18,2022. I am floored.
*their music
Just heard it tonight 11/25/23 for the first time! Dig it!!!
Now this I love!!!
Deep into it, Connie Han. Very nice.
I am now hearing her music for the first time as well. What a trio!! Great drummer and bass player. Amazing. Connie? The best piano player, period. All of the positive adjectives apply!
Connie Han is a genius carrying the torch for jazz with deep artistic expression that transcends cultural boundaries. I was so close to interviewing her for my upcoming doc on women in jazz. We missed each other by a matter of hours... I hope the opportunity comes up again!
1:13:33 and on until the drum solo - ARE YOU SERIOUS??? Just jaw-dropping. And to be this mind-blowingly technically excellent and do it with SO MUCH unbridled, raw emotion and heart is something very few musicians possess. #WereNotWorthy 🙌🙌🙌
Love your respectful acknowledgement of the Jones brothers & McCoy Tyner and their enormous contributions to jazz. And mesmerised by your compositions & playing. A great trio.
Love her ...
This one is my new favorite!
Just so good! ❤❤❤
Wow!
Connie Han - Piano
Ryan Berg - Bass

In a word, Perfection!!!----Encore!!!
Superb in all aspects. Musicality, creativity, proficiency, ensemble cohesion- just, wow!
I saw you at the Rochester Int'l Jazz Festival and was completely blown away. I love McCoy too, and you are a wonderful heir to what he created, in your own individual way of course. I've already learned so much from you at the piano and will continue to study what you're doing to deepen my understanding of these exciting dimensions of jazz piano. Thank you!
I love the trio. Have been binging their videos. I have to say too, the sound quality on this one is amazingly good. Especially the sound of the piano itself.
She makes me remember why I love this music so much😊
Thank you for carrying the torch that was lit by McCoy and so many others.
Oh my gosh that was my old home town and she came to bless them ,..😮lucky.

😀
It's a shame the video and audio sync after one hour and seven minutes of a fantastic concert (congrats)! Please pay attention to those small technical details... in the end, they can destroy a great enjoyment!

I'm not sure I understand what her contribution is to jazz. Could someone explain it to me?
I (we) thoroughly enjoy her playing and her presentation, it’s of the highest level. Sure there’s nothing new under the sun, but she is preserving the relevance of jazz in a time when most of the older generation of players is disappearing. I have absolutely no problem with what she is throwing down, Viva Connie Han!
You don't explain great jazz. You feel it. Let go.
....Making good music.
That mask nonsense put me off.
