  • A LA Metro Blue Line light rail train passing the E Century Blvd railroad crossing next to the UP Wilmington Subdivision. I got this crossing to see if the Safetran Type 1 worked or not and it doesn't. I wasn't surprised since I already know another Bell was at the bottom. Its interesting they left it on the Cantilever. This crossing on LA Metro side have an interesting start up. The median and the gateless signal lights don't start up until the gate on the cantilever Signal starts lowering. Theirs an new signal on LA Metro side also coming because they are building pedestrian gates all down the LA Metro Blue Line/UP Wilmington Subdivision for better crossing safety. You can see one of the new pedestrian gates are set up by Metro's cantilever and their are more to come next to UPs cantilever, on the left, and replace Metro's gateless mast signal. trams numbers are LA Metro MTA 121 and 103.
    Crossing Info:
    Signals on this side of tracks are owned and maintained by Union Pacific Railroad and bells ring through whole activation. Signals on other side are owned and maintained by LA Metro MTA and Lights on Median and Gateless Signal Start up when Gate lowers and bells ring till gates rise. Crossing also has five no left or right turn signals.
    - Safetran Cantilever Signal on right has an Non-Functional Safetran Type 1 Electronic Bell, its mast main lights has 1 12x20 WCH 2nd Generation LED Light and 3 12x20 Union Pacific LED Lights inside Safetran Light Frames and Safetran Brackets and side lights are 2 pairs of 12x20 Union Pacific LED Lights inside Safetran Light Frames and Safetran Brackets. It's Overhead has 2 pairs of 12x20 Union Pacific LED Lights inside Safetran Light Frames and Safetran Brackets.
    It's Gated Mast has an NEG Electronic Bell, RECO Gate LED Lights, NEG Gate Saver, Invensys Rail/Safetran Gate Mechanism, Safetran Counterweight Arm, and Safetran Base.
    - Median Gated Mast Signal has an NEG Electronic Bell, 2 pairs of 12x24 WCH 2nd Generation LED Lights inside Safetran Light Frames, Safetran Brackets, RECO Gate LED Lights, NEG Gate Saver, Invensys Rail/Safetran Gate Mechanism, Safetran counterweight Arm, and Safetran Base.
    - Safetran Cantilever Signal on left has an WCH Gen 2 Type 1.5 Electronic Bell, 5 pairs of 12x24 GE/Harmon Fading LED Lights inside Safetran Light Frames and Safetran Brackets.
    It's Gated Mast has RECO Gate LED Lights, Safetran Gate Mechanism, Safetran Counterweight Arms, and Safetran Base.
    - Median Gated Mast Signal on other side has 2 pairs of 12x24 GE/Harmon Fading LED Lights inside Safetran Light Frames, Safetran Brackets, RECO Gate LED Lights, Safetran Gate Mechanism, Safetran Counterweight Arms, and Safetran Base.

    Nice! Wish the Safetran Type 1 still worked!

  • @ErikAlfaroProductionsOfficial

    Cool catch! Too bad the Safetran Type 1 was out. Also, we should railfan together someday. Maybe you can visit Wilmington and we can railfan the area.

    I'm here when Union Pacific is working on the Alhambra Corridor, they shut it down and divert all that traffic thru here. Especially the stack trains.

    Why do those lights on the other side flash extra fast?

    • @MobileRailSpotterRxR
      @MobileRailSpotterRxR  Před 6 lety

      Not sure. Notice also how not all the signals on the other side (LA Metro) activate at the same time? This crossing was weirdly setup when it came to activating on the other side (LA Metro) unless it was malfunctioning.

      MobileRailSpotterRxR I think that it was that gated and gateless signal starting up on the other side while the gate was lowering. The lights were fine until they started up.

      MobileRailSpotterRxR they're setting up a new Pedestrian gate on this side for the sidewalk next to the cantilever which has a THIRD E- Bell

    Are NEG E-bells usually mounted on the side of the mast?

    • @MobileRailSpotterRxR
      @MobileRailSpotterRxR  Před 5 lety

      When UPRR or CSX installs them yes. Both of them love to install them on the side. Usually with other railroads they are installed on top of the signals like normal.

    • @littlewishy6432
      @littlewishy6432 Před 5 lety

      MobileRailSpotterRxR Because I know that the Union Pacific line along the I-10 in Southern California (the desert) has crossings where the E-bell is mounted on the side of the mast (some are WCH E-bells) and I’m wondering if those are all NEG E-bells. (Source: Google Earth)

    • @MobileRailSpotterRxR
      @MobileRailSpotterRxR  Před 5 lety

      Yeah rarely you would find WCH E-Bells on the side of UPRR signals and GS E-Bells but you would find them in the side of signals also. In my area theirs a GS E-Bell on the side of a gateless pedestrian signal.

    • @MobileRailSpotterRxR
      @MobileRailSpotterRxR  Před 5 lety

      They replaced it with the NEG E-Bell at the bottom on the gated mast since that's considered the same signal. It's like with Mather Field Rd Safetran Mechanical Bells. These bells will never ring again as their replaced with the bell on the lower mast. They so may not be dead just unwired since theirs already a bk taking their place. This is a jointly owned crossing is the reason why it has two relay cases. This side of the crossing is owned by UPRR and the other side is owned by LA Metro.
