    I'm most excited with the prospect of running some variant of Linux for ARM on these Snapdragons. Mahalo for this signal65 report!

    So it is the Windows M2 Pro. Still great from a battery and AI improvement, but trails the M3 Pro and the M4.

      True, but for a first try it is a decent chip, but there is a chance to disappoint the users because of the meaningless hype. Same happend with the Google Tensor (ok that is a bit weaker chip, but actually still was a decent 1st gen chip)

      @user-iu2om5mm6y Před 3 měsíci

      It's more than decent. M3 is one of the most powerful ARM chip on the market at the moment, so if it just manage to keep up is impressive. Software support is the new problem though.

      Yeah I think that’s still pretty good and I’m fully on board (once I can save some of the money).
      What I don’t understand is:
      - How did they get their 58% faster than M3 Air figure from?
      - How was the last gen snapdragon (SP9G) was more expensive than the intel version but this time snapdragon is cheaper than Intel? 🤷🏽‍♂️
      Thanks for the content also Aldo 👍🏾

      @RemofRenaissance I think they lowered the price due to "Recall" spyware. The Intel Surface Pro 10 still costs noticeably more.

      @@user-iu2om5mm6yIn a few factors in falls behind the M2. First on graphical side it’s greatly lacking even an M1 chip
      Second there’s not much memory options and lags behind the M series.
      What it has is cost, variety of laptops and its NPU is superior to the M series.

    Why did they compare the elite chip with the base M3 model? It should be compared to the M3 pro. The snap dragon x elite plus should be compared to the base model.
    Also the 45 TOPS is based on integers, which is inflated way of showing performance.

    • @peraman2022

      The SnapDragon's 45 TOPS is based on INT4, while the M4 38 TOPS is based on INT8

    Who provided the benchmarks and what tools were used? Qualcomm be all about the "synthetic" benchmarks. Real world performance does not equate to these numbers so far in regards to x86 apps.

  • @TokyoNeko8
    @TokyoNeko8 Před 3 měsíci +1

    Efficiency in power video testing is little off because they did not adjust for the total battery size. 15" Air has 5% smaller battery so the battery test results need to be adjusted because it has a smaller battery for "efficiency" comparisons. AND WHO WATCHES Video at 150 Nits.... that's so dim?!?!?!

    Qualcomm is holding back the development of ARM processors. Can’t wait for their exclusivity deal to end with Microsoft so we can have nVidia, AMD, and Intel enter the market.

  • @Yusufyusuf-lh3dw

    Fan noise of MSI laptop seems like an anomaly. Cooling efficiency is heavily dependent on the laptops' overall mechanical design. Battery life difference bw Qualcomm, Apple and intel based MSI laptops were not huge - 15hr vs 21hrs. Considering that, we shouldn't get high fan noise during light loads. The study completely ignored AMD laptops which are similar in battery life to MSI.
    Edit: both intel and AMD are going to launch their newer generation laptops sometime around the actual launch time of Qualcomm laptops. With intels lunar lake laptops said to be over 50% more efficient than the core ultra one while giving double the performance. Considering all that I think it's not going to be a home run for Qualcomm with these chips.

      What is interesting is to see that the Elite is basically as performant as the Core Ultra in a 16 inch chassis while having 30% more battery life in a thin chassis and much quieter. I hope that it means also much less throttling while unplugged which is one of the most annoying disadvantage of Intel chip in Surface Pro or thin laptop.

  • @MrPerrisC

    Wnderful, this xelite performs favorably to the worst current Apple CPU and worse than year old x86 and at that, only 10 percent more efficient
    And it's not even abailable at the moment with 64 gigs ram, and it's not ever upgradable to what everyone will want in a year, most wanting at least 32 today
    Why is this CPU a thing?

    • @TamasKiss-yk4st
      @TamasKiss-yk4st Před 3 měsíci +1

      Because they make a hype to sell their product (the M1 released 4 years ago, even if they required one whole year to gather the team, they paid the engineers for at least 3 years.. so they want some money back, even if the chip itself not even good)
