    I tried repairing scratches on my old car using fine grit sandpaper, touch up paint, HOLT spray cans, 2k clear coats, putty, Meguiar ultimate compound, wax and scratch remover and the result was horrendous.
    Nail polish is the way to go.
    I agree with others who have said not to use nailpolish remover. They tend to damage the clear coat and then even after spraying 2k or 4k clear coat, you never get the shine back.

    Such a better way to do this is, slap the paint over the entire length of the scratch quickly in 10 seconds, then run a razor blade over it at an angle just like a plasterer does with a trowl on a wall. This way it sinks the paint evenly into the scratch and removes the excess without you doing any rubbing after.

I get more damage to my cars paint in the work parking lot than anywhere else. Have scratches all along the front fender where I think someone has sidled alongside it and hit the paint with a bag zipper or jean rivet.... I followed your other guides to blend repair my bumpers and got a pretty good result, learnt a lot and will have a much better result next time.

    If I have a rattle can of the body colour of the car, would squirting some into a pot to then brush on the scratch be effective or will it dry in the pot too quickly ?

    As a wife who hasn't *thankfully* had her polishes raided yet... I was dying inside when you didn't screw the varnish bottle shut straight away. 😱Good tip: If your wife has any rare or expensive colours, she can keep them in the fridge so they last for years. Some brands apply better slightly cool as well, such as semi-opaques and glitters. Eventually they dry out and go gluggy if you don't refridgerate them, so she can have the rare ones for 10+ years if looked after. Thanks for the great video. I am NOT saving this one for hubby to see, though, as he'd leave the bottles unscrewed for hours! 🤣

    Great video! Do you use the nail varnish once the paint has dried? Or immediately after you’ve filled the void?

    • @jenniferd1476
      @jenniferd1476 Před 2 lety

      You should let it dry or the color might come off onto the brush if it hasn’t dried completely. It could also clump onto the brush if you apply the brush onto it before it’s finished drying, which would add more texture to the scratch

    Sir, what do you think of filling the scratch with hot glue, sand it to be smooth, and repaint it ? Replacing putty with hot glue, is it possible? Cheers!

    I did a deep scratch touchup on my wife's rocker panel. I think a lawn mower scraped against it. Only thing I did different was I covered the bare metal with primer. It's hard to find even though I know where it was.
