She picked Izumi because he knows pain very well and is always there to support her. "When the petals were dancing, we met each other." I think this says that something led them to liking each other and then "A true story that sounds like a lie" it's hard to believe that women nowadays like men who are more feminine which I don't like in my opinion :/ but Izumi isn't those "nice guys" type of of guys, he's actually nice and soft and he actually cares and respect others, especially Shikimori. "But the roller coaster doesn't just end there" Izumi isn't just this soft pussy. Izumi is better than you think he is, in Shikimori's perspective. Gotta say, the manga and the anime are some of the best Japanese media I’ve read in a while. It just feels different. Not only is the author good at writing the story, the drawings are astonishing. This is the first manga where the characters in high school are actually wondering what they’re going to do in the future, which helps me relate to it more. The thing I don’t relate to it though is the fact I don’t have a girlfriend…or friends in general. But anyway, it’s a great manga and anime at the same time, one of my favorites actually, but I’ve written for too long, and it’s late for me so g’night/g’day

That scene in the op, i guess he couldn't take it anymore like I can guess that something so horrible happened in the past to him like a great misfortune which caused these injuries
