Four words give such a massive implication
Xanthus knew how defiant robotnik was and knew that at some point in time, robotnik would stand against him once again.
That time is now, and xanthus is not going down, and letting the eggman know that he doesnt stand a chance, demolishing his finest creation and using its head as a footrest.
I like to think in this concept that eggman had a very strong will power he managed to fix his body despite being dead and fight back against xanthus
And I think the implication here is that Xanthus knew , thanks to four simple words: "it was, wasn't it?"
