Here’s how I would explain it to a child:
The Scrum Master role can be thought of as analogous to the driving assist on a car. While the driver (Developers) self-manages and drives the car with the help of directions from a map (Product Owner), the driving assist helps frequently inspect and adapt the course of the car to the changing circumstances.

Great question! I think visualization and practical examples are key here.
Recently I've put the Incrementor Scrum poster on my office wall, my son noticed it and asked "What the hell is that?!"
So I tried to walk him through the different parts of the poster using an example from his daily life.
His Product Goal is to buy that new skateboard (definitely a looong term goal). His current Sprint Goal is to find a student job to start getting some money.
On the Daily Scrum he should check his progress towards the goal and see if there are any blocking issues (getting out of bed before noon seems to be the biggest impediment currently ...).
It wasn't flawless, but I think he got it ... either that or he just nodded to make me stop explaining things :D

That was a fun episode. The Scrum Trainer, in one of my classes, used Scrum when his family went on vacations. He also taught his daughter Scrum (she is a teacher). She then used Scrum in the classroom. :)

I would just simply say: "Do you remember Robby, the coach of your foodball team? Well, daddy is a bit like Robby but daddy does the same in an office and daddy has a lot of meetings and daddy has a guide just like Robby and daddy makes sure that people play nice and work together as a team."

Hi Ryan and Todd, how are you?
I really appreciate this series, watch all videos and love it.
By the today's video, it bring me a clue, for examples and how people apply Scrum and agile concepts for any type of project, like Jeff described in his book Scrum: The Art of Doing Twice the Work in Half the Time.
I sued to apply it to many projects of my house, with my kids, wife, etc and it was nice. They loved to and I'd like to know if more people do the same.
Thanks a lot and keep the great work you do.
    Best regards from Brazil.

I think this is a great point Carlos, and is the basis of a question I ask when recruiting Scrum Masters: how has Scrum impacted your life outside of work.
If we take the empiricism and the values seriously - if we really believe in them, then they should shape us as a person - they should really permeate, and cause us to reflect upon ourselves and our striving each day, in whatever vocation we have (parent, child, sibling, friend etc).

Hello Ryan and Todd! Another spetacular show!
You forgot one important thing! What are the name of your kids?
One question: Suppose that one SM is idle inside the company and he\she is selected to be in a new project. How should the organization envolved the SM to a new project? I mean, how the organization should prepare the environment (if required) before the invitation for a SM to be part of Scrum Team? Exists a best pratice for the org to invite SM for a project? thanks my friends!

I have an important question my team has been trying to answer for a while. During the Sprint Review meeting with stakeholders, who is responsible for doing the demos of the new content, Developers that created the code or QA Engineers that tested it? I would love to hear your thoughts on this

How does a scrum master engage stakeholders?
