Remember folks, when you mix vinegar (and acid) with sodium bicarbonate (a base), you’re just making fancy looking water. They literally cancel each other out. It’s pointless to use both unless you’re trying to unclog a sink.

You are exactly right. I can't believe no-one at the BBC knows this.

@@hobonickel840 assuming you are asking about carburator parts you can clean those with fuel or salt and vinegar or degreaser but best way is to put those in a ultrasonic cleaner with degreaser

Cheap ketchup works extremely well on brass and copper. It’s already like a paste, but obviously don’t use on brass attached to cloth or you might cause stains. Ketchup works better than Brasso.

Why mix vinegar (an acid) itch sodium bicarbonate (a base): they neutralise one another giving a salt and water.

After using a lot of specialized cleaning agents, I have since discovered that for cleaning and laundry: baking soda, vinegar and soap, either on their own or sometimes combo of some of them. Better for the environment, cheaper and non toxic. Salt or sugar for scrubbing tough stains.

@@twistedara Only iron can rust. Even in alloys, like steel, only the iron rusts in the alloy, because rust is the common term for iron oxide.
