Goggins inspired me to try the 4x4x48 last year for the first time. Learned a lot about myself, and really pushed myself. Beautiful human.
I don't usually comment on youtube...but Goggins is THE MAN. This man is beyond inspiration to me. This man has become the judgmental voice in my head pushing me to go further and further and further. Whenever I feel "whiny" I literally hear Goggins voice telling me "Are you too good to not do this?" and I immediately jump into action. What a Legend

In a world fill with bullshit 'heroes' and false idols, Goggins stands ALONE. I think my favorite quote from him is "I'm not crazy... I'm just not you." He is simply willing to work harder, longer, and endure more pain than others. This dude is f'in legit.

I've had my own thoughts similar to your assessment of the reverse role model. I will say it can be very eye opening and empowering in an otherwise depressing set of circumstances.
I like the reverse role model concept - it sits neatly alongside the Hitchins notion of choosing your regrets. I wonder how many other slightly twee or trite advices you can turn into something robust and actionable simply by inverting them.

I’m floored that Goggins uses people who he doesn’t personally know as his motivation. I would have thought it stemmed from a much deeper, internal place.
He uses both. In his first book he talks about „going back to the dungeon „ and thinking about all the bad shit that happened to him. He also uses his achievements as positive motivation

thanks to my repeatedly hearing DG say "you have to confront the devil" combined with remembering how some psychologists have kids draw what's bothering them i made a similar mix tape a couple of months ago.
copied/pasted sneering, cutting dialogue clips from a bunch of movies + yt vids, combined with sound of a school gym in background: lots of "tell somebody who fucking cares". "make him do a trick!". "we were just kidding anyways". "that's mine" kind of stuff. the more demeaning the better.
i play it while taking cold shower in the morning. my cue to turn off the frigid water about five minutes in?

It's really interesting to see Goggins in a more calm state during an interview. I remember hearing him years ago on Team Never Quit and it was nonstop yelling lol just cool to see his evolution over time!

At least 30 miles if not more , my roommates say I’ve gone Goggins mode , his name needs to be in the dictionary soon !!
I'm miserable and suffering from traumas but I don't talk shit about successful people. He's just guessing. You can't really know what kinda people leave hate comments. But from some my experiences I had comments that showed they just enjoy triggering people make them suffer narcissistic and sadistic. I didn't pay to red flags prior to that they showed me that they hate children and stuff.
