- It's time for a Greenhouse Update showcasing a diverse array of produce like cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, NFT-grown produce and strawberries! I have a had an issue with iron which I think I got fixed but I still wonder sometimes if I am doing this right. What do you think?

You are mighty cute. Please please tell us how you manage aphids they are driving me nuts in my hydroponic lettuce greenhouse. I’ve been using pyrethrum spray also lacewing and ladybug larvae but the aphids are relentless. I have window screen and when it’s hot or cold I Velcro on plastic. I have evap coolers. I’m spending way too much of my life washing them off before packaging to deliver.
Really my best way is insecticide soap but on lettuce its hard...

It's not so much a recipe for food but beats are great in juice.
Ones recipe I really like is beats, apple, carrot, small piece of ginger and a little bit of lemon.

No sorry I don't sell seeds. Most of my seeds I purchase from Johnny Seeds.
Everything in the greenhouse and high tunnel looks amazing! The plastic technique you used for the long cukes - blown? - is interesting. Just like how you get them from the grocery store. It helps keep them fresh longer I imagine? I bought some Tyria seeds after one of your previous videos but they aren't quite cooperating with me for germination yet. Hopefully they will get their act together soon.
Thanks! The English cucumbers have to be shrink wrapped because very thin and they lose moisture very fast if not sealed. I say blow the cucumbers because my grandson years ago watched me shrink wrap the cukes and said I was blowing them. So, the term just stuck. The seeds should germinate rather quick. Are you using Oasis or Rockwool, soil??
@@HomegrownPassion soil right now. My hydroponics system is down for maintenance (translation - I got busy outside and forgot) . Tried starting with my usual sure-fire seed starting mix with no luck. Just put some in actual dirt yesterday. I was suspicious of the seeds from the minute I got them. From an Amazon seller. Small plastic baggie inside plain white envelope. Only source I could find in smaller quantities.

Why do you think the bato buckets outperformed the bags for the strawberries? Do they have more media in them?
What size diameter bags are you using?
Not sure why I'm planting more bags in the next couple of days and I am going to do some more research. I will keep you updated

Yes, that works great. So, it's an automotive stool. It raises and lowers, and I think we bought it at Harbor Freight.

Hi! Everything looks great! We have a 2100 sf hydroponic greenhouse and have a few questions.
1) Cukes - we grow the Johnnys Socrates cukes, and once they are harvested at the leaf, we cut the leaf until the plant reaches the roof and then we replave the plant. Do the english cukes you are growing keep producing new cukes? Which variety are they?
2) We have considered growing peppers in the GH. I was shocked.at the age of yours and how they are producing. What Johnnys variety are.they?
3) most importantly, i dont see any PM on your plants. How are you managing against that?

Thanks for watching! The cucumbers are Poniente, the peppers are milena (orange) sprinter (red) and brocanto (yellow) As for the PM, I am currently growing mostly Asian greens and they are resistant to PM. When I grow lettuce I do have problems in the summer with PM and use suffoil x to keep it away.

All my seeds were purchased from Johnny Seeds. The red is Sprinter, yellow is Brocanto and orange are Milena.
Do you still use ZeroTol to control Algae on your bato buckets, or have you found another product? And, can you put a link out to what iron you add to your hydroponic water?
Yes, I still use Zerotol I think it works great so I am sticking with it. The iron I use DTPA Iron Chelate 11%
Does wrapping cucumbers in plastic help in anyway? like do they last longer? as they are air tight? 🤔
Yes so English Cucumbers are always sealed because they have very thin skin so shrink wrapping them helps them stay fresh for much longer.
What medium do you use for your cucumber and peppers?

Do you poke holes in the bottom of your red solo cups when you are starting your flowers? How moist do you keep the soil on those? I want to start all mine next year on my own and stop buying them at the big box stores.

What iron do you use in your Nutrient solution.
DTPA Iron Chelate 11% I did try a very cheap iron with less percentage, and you can see by the video it did not do well. 5 pounds of the 11% cost me around $75.00

So we use Natural gas to heat the greenhouse My gas is very inexpensive because we have an oil and gas well on the property.
