  • In-depth video of Katy's hydroponic, Dutch bucket tomatoes nutrient solution, how she mixes it, her tank and pump system, and other growing tips. We included specific measurements and the types of nutrients that are in the formula. Then, Devon shows how to get hydroponic cucumbers trained on the bobbin strings and a quick tour to see all of the updates in the greenhouse. We do an unboxing of our new order of wire hanging baskets with coco liner at the end. Look for homemade hanging basket videos soon!

Couple of hints: 1/ If you mix in your acid to your stock water before adding in your nutrients you will probably only need about half of the acid you are using now. All due to ion chemistry which I won't get into now. Just ensure your plants are not hit with too low a pH between adding your acid & adding your nutrients. 2/ Always add your calcium nitrate to your stock water before adding in your Hydrogrow. Again, it is all to do with ion chemistry reactions, but swapping around the order of adding your 2 separate nutrient solutions to your stock tank will result in less calcium coming out of solution over the next couple of days. Don't just take my word for it, try it & see for yourself :) 3/ Use a short stiff hair broom instead of PVC pipe to mix up your nutrients. Really easy!
    Keep up the entertaining vids!

@@gloriouspopemantom373 Yes, I know most people (& even Masterblend) say to mix the calcium nitrate last, however it is the calcium that reacts with the trace elements to then form an insoluble mixture of compounds in the bottom of your nutrient tank. If you mix the calcium nitrate first, the calcium levels are no longer concentrated & so they won't react with such vigor when you later add the trace elements.

Where to you get your (timers and those bulb filters) and how many Dutch Buckets do they supply nutrients to with the pressure that comes from a 1/3 hp pump? We do flush to remove salt buildup in the system. We try and monitor the plant sucess and let that determine what needs to be done with the nutrient solution.

I always buffer water PH to 6.1-6.3 first.
Then I dissolve the NPK 4-18-38 with water and add to tank.
Then I dissolve Epsom salt and add to tank.
Then dissolve the Calcium Nitrate and add to tank, then measure PH again and buffer to 6.1-6-3.
