Great tip i just discovered, if you want to learn to listen to the pacenotes, just drive without lights in the night
I call this "Super Advanced Pace Note Training" lmao
That’s some advanced training. Accidentally did that once in Spain/Argentina, NEVER AGAIN
@ShadowSnipedd cant take responsibility for that mate
Or you can just drive blindfolded
I literally did that, in an Australian stage, both lights broken, at night. I made it through just listening and turning.
Great vid. Going to pay more attention now. When I first started I thought Phil said Titans, like some sort of rally term. However I thought tightens meant the road wasn't as wide. -Tsunami
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the call-out was titans when I first heard it lol.
Another great informational Video 👍 keep it up buddy 😉
Just the info I needed. Thanks dawg
great guide, subbed!
This dude's on a roll with these vids! Keep em coming dude! P.S. wut this dude's basically saying he lower the number the sharper the turn is
great video bro, thank you, makes sense now.
Hey hows it going, I wanted to say thank you for this and all the videos you put out it really helps someone like me. Keep on a pair of fresh socks and bring it on. Peace man!
Pro trick : watch series at kaldroStream. Been using them for watching loads of movies recently.
@Mitchell Lyle Definitely, I've been using kaldrostream for since november myself :D
Just a note, you might already know by now: The number before the turn also signifies the gear you should take it in. So 5 right means you should be in 5th gear, and so on. I’m very new to the rally world so when I first started playing I had no idea what any of the calls meant, I really thought he was saying “Titans 4” and was like “wtf does a titan mean”. This guide really helped out!
The notes were written that way and they were made using the Mini Cooper, so the numbers will not translate to which gear across all cars, and this is also dependent on gear ratios
@@RoadsideTV08 That makes sense. I watched another guide before yours and it was a guy involved in the actual Dirt 2 pace notes and he said that about gears, but now that I think about it that doesn’t make much sense with the vast difference between the slowest and fastest cars.
Some cars have gears higher than 6 like that Ford class A from dr2. How will I impliment this strat?
@@bacon_man21 You will have to pay attention, if you are taking almost every *6 Right* on 7th gear then that would be the reference more or less
Same if you take a *3 Left* on 4th gear then thats the reference and so on
@@agustin8160 I also thought that when playing the game but I also took it as some sort of identifier of whether the turn is easier or sharper. 5 and 6 being easy turn ins, 4 and 3 slighty sharper, and 2 and 1 being incredibly sharp. Something like that.
edit: looks like the video mentions the same idea lol
Omg thankyou I thought the 6 was the sharp corner. And 1 the one you can take with speed.
I did miss the other notes like narrow, wide, tightens widens. I find some of the icons confusing. I first thought narrows and widens, were some kids and of corner hints as well
Sudden, early, fast and late -corners would be nice to add to this
Great video.can you Make one about racing lines but with actual gameplay? What wheel degree are you using in this game ?
I was planning on doing a follow up video about the racing lines so stay tuned for that! Also I use 360 degrees for my rotation, I know a lot of people that also use 540
@@RoadsideTV08 nice, i was using 360 but switched to 540
Great explanation of driving technique here...
but you may want to look at a longer version over on Team O'Neals channel
Sorry not trying to plug other CZcamsrs but they go in to great detail about all of this and could even give this channel some ideas on how to show some of there examples in-game on here
I've watched their videos and they are great, this was just a very brief video about pacenotes and drive lines, I plan on doing a more in depth video when I get the time
I have never heard acute in pace note. I've heard double hairpin however. Please note that number come before directions...6 left.. exemptions are when you hear..opens...or....tightens.
I thought the number before meant what gear to be in so I would be shooting off edges in 5th gear coz i had no idea what I was doing
From what I understand, the pace notes for this game were written that way using the the classic Mini Cooper which is very slow, so using a faster car those notes no longer correlate to gears.
When it goes really fast I have trouble translating the directions fast enough on new tracks. English is only a second language for me. I guess I am so concentrated on watching where I am going I miss notes.
I am like did he say a right 1 of a right 4?
Crashing in spectacular manner.
When a course is played a few times you know what is coming but that's not how rally driving is done, I already turned the visual left & right of for some time now. Also when playing longer it gets worse. After an hour or two I go rally crossing to recover. And try again later. I am at pro level now
I've been playing the Dirt Rally games for years now and it still happens to me occasionally too so don't worry haha. Eventually though you'll get better and catching what he's saying and reacting to it
It happens to me too when i try faster cars (im a noob)
@@ggrethaveall5088 you have more time to prepare and you don't wanna hear "tigthens 3" in middle of the corner ;) I have set them as early as possible, but in scotland co-driver is way too slow, last time I drove there with audi quttro and I was 2 corners before actual calls what was annoying...
I have a few comments.
An acute corner in my mind would be like a 45 degree angle. Because hairpins I do believe are technically going to turn you around 180 degrees. So if you're driving due north after the HP you should be going south. Whereas the acute will have you going south- east or, even south, south-east.
This game is so deeeeep
I have a question: I’m new and I don’t know what ride hight I should use at a location like New Zealand, If someone could help me that would be cool
New Zealand you can actually set it lower than you'd think because it's a fairly flat smooth surface, what height specifically can range from car to car, but you can set it lower.
Thank you bro this helped alot
That's good and all, but what is a 'crest'?
A crest is a hill
@@RoadsideTV08 yes thanks, I had to look it up, but found it 👍
me so far:
6?? what fucking 6? We're sitting in a vintage 4 gears car darling!
*AAAAAAAAAARH*
This game looks really cool can I not play it without learning the pacenotes
You can, it will just be difficult, but with enough time you could still be fast.
1:18 - cut the carbage before that.
5:08 If You're Skilled And Have A Controller You Can Just Drift That Corner
You can drift it with a wheel too, but the point is to keep the car going in as straight a line as possible.
Drifting is always slower than driving the line with maximum traction
4 means stay on gear 4th 5 means stay on gear 5th and so on..
It doesn't work for all cars, the notes were written using the old school Mini Cooper, so on the more modern cars you can take 4s in 5th or 6th gear.
lol only 2-3 notes explained, and that much likes? wtf?
@@ggrethaveall5088 and what? I am not even a youtuber pretending to teach people rally, I was looking for someone to explain literally every pace note from the game)
There are plenty of other videos out there that go much more in depth into every single call, however I decided to only really talk about the numbers since that was the most common question I got.
Also, if it makes you feel any better this was my lowest effort video out of all of them and is the one I'm least proud of.
@@RoadsideTV08 No problem, it covers the basic stuff as said in the description. I am just wondering now if you will make other video with the some approach but for every note, because I did not find any video like that on youtube :(
Once you understand the numbers that's 95% of it, I feel like bump, crest, dip, and jump are pretty self explanatory though.
@@RoadsideTV08 I am not a native English speaker, thats why I still don't understand what examples like Tightens over crest means, and specifically "Over Crest", which for me is just equal to "Caution" because I know its something bad but no idea what specifically it is. Or other one "3 Right, keep in or into the crest -> opens", what means "Keep into the Crest -> Opens" -> I am just slowing down because again no idea whats going on with that note :D.
So I saw that everywhere word Crest is used, what does it mean, maybe this will help)
Activate Windows haha
Haha yeah, I got a new motherboard so Windows got upset at that, I recently did get it activated after 4 years though
Oh look you think your a expert in dirt rally
Not an expert, simply passing my knowledge to those who are just starting the game.
