- King Charles and the Queen Consort were being welcomed to York by city leaders when a protester threw four eggs at them, all of which missed before the pair were whisked away.

The King, and Queen Camilla should be flanked by security at all times like the U.S. President are when he is out in public. So it was an egg this time. Sure, it's not perfect and maybe the idea of one family benefitting from that might offend some people, but it's necessary. Take it away, and the othering of people gets worse.

How much is Charles worth? Getting out of a hundred thousand pound car so people behind barriers can better see who they are worshiping isn't as important as it could have been if Charles donated some of his millions of acres of real estate to grow food for England. Princess Anne was almost kidnapped when a man was able to shoot her security and driver and get into her car while she was driving home. This was totally disrespectful. Thankfully the vast majority of the people of York who were gathered there were pleased to see the King and his consort. I am glad to see it didn’t spoil their day and it didn’t spoil the day of their well wishers - pity it spoilt the day of some precious eggs! What a waste of food when money is so tight! It's OK not to respect someone, and it's absolutely true that respect should be earned, but it goes both ways. If you're protesting against something, then it means you have an alternative solution. Then, be so kind to bother to show others (or explain in normal words with some valid arguments) why your idea or solution is better.
People can show their disagreement (or even disrespect) in a respectful way. Do they really want their idea to prosper and to be understood? Do they really care about something they're trying to represent? I don't think so, because otherwise they would've shown themselves in a better light.

King Charles III is not my king either, literally. I'm neither British, nor a resident of the UK. But why should I disrespect him? And why bringing late Princess Diana up for this discussion? Where have you been all those years? The best thing he can do now is to perform his duties thoroughly. Nothing more, nothing less.
But there is a thing that really bothers me - these modern methods of protesting. Why nowadays people think that they can demand respect by destroying art (which is my sphere of expertise) or performing some disgusting acts, while showing little to no knowledge of the subject they're trying to speak about (e.g. climate change)?

As a young child Charles was always portrayed as a bad guy to me in America. But now as an adult my perspective has changed and I have grown to admire and respect him. He always had a voice and spoke from the heart. Never gets startled and never folds under pressure. I see what many may not see. The heart of his mother and the courage of his grandfather. I think it takes courage to stay calm and continue with the event. When you consider there may be some risk of an attack, it is one thing, but after you have been attacked, even if it was eggs and not something more harmful, it does take a special kind of mind to stay put and move on. Well done.

Since he felt as strongly about Camilla as he obviously did, all he had to do was wait to marry. He could have continued seeing her the whole time. (She obviously felt te same about him.). Those who didn’t support the relationship would have either come to accept it or learn to shut up. He eventually put himself and his family trough great humiliation and did damage to the monarchy at a time it could ill afford to be under attack. It wasn’t the Middle Ages!
Charles, as Prince of Wales, was in the singular position of eventually getting what he wanted. Those who were opposed to the match would have realized that he was running out of time to produce an heir with her. I honestly think if he had had more backbone, he would have married her when he originally wanted. He was too weak to do the right thing the right way.
Perhaps I am being judgmental but not about the relationship but the way in which Charles conducted himself with both Camilla and Diana. He is very blessed that Camilla loved him enough to forgive him for leaving her for someone “suitable.” Obviously, Camilla was “suitable” from the beginning or she wouldn’t be Queen Consort now! I don’t blame her for marrying someone else- she had been dumped by the Prince of Wales for being less than she was. It is pretty hard to get over someone; imagine having to get over that!
