Thank you so much, Mary. I have a handful of poems that I’ve written. And a few stories. I don’t get a lot time to write. I usually do it when I have a need. Like this poem, my Letter from the Journal-Maker in my shop. I even write a story to go with a scrapbook I made for my grandnephew’s christening. Who knows, maybe someday I’ll be mildly, anonymously famous! LOL! Blessings to you, as well! 💕
I would never think this was "out of your comfort zone" considering how very beautiful and cohesive it is!
Oh, thank you, Kathe! I just tend to make everything centered and matched and “neat”. So I’m trying to make things look a little more collaged. Small steps but I’ll get there! It’s good to be able to do a couple or three different styles of journals. I like the challenge! 💕

Where to begin with my comments Judy. Let’s start with the fact that I am indeed jealous of the winner of The Bee Journal!!! What a gift you have graced her with. You are not only amazingly talented and creative, you are a generous soul.
Next topic Judy is your poem. My degrees are in English literature and I am always dismayed when a journal maker takes any piece of book page, scans it for bad words, and then places it on a tag, or page, etc. For me, the written word and spoken words are so powerful and meaningful. I love the book pages and sentiments to correlate with the journal subject. You have used a beautiful original poem to set the stage for another masterpiece!!!

Oh, Stephanie, you always lift me up! I’m so pleased you like the journal and I’m jealous, too. LOL! I’ve always wanted to make a bee journal for myself. Now I’ve made one that I love and I must give it away! Ah, well! One day I’ll try to make a journal for myself!
I, too, love both the spoken and printed word. I have a collection of over 1,100 books. It’s mostly a rather apologetic collection to do with Christianity and Christian history, as befits my vocation and my personal interests. There are also books about American history, genealogy, some embroidery, calligraphy and other craft books, and some novels.
As a professor of words, you know that the spoken word was once considered magical, hence invocations and incantations. Though not in the same vain, I wish people could understand the power of their words and learn to speak carefully. Words do have power. And the printed word bears no less power. I wanted this journal to portray a feeling, an image that I had; almost a memory that wasn’t my own, it was that strong. I could see the bee in a meadow in the sunlight in my mind’s eye. I could feel the warm, morning air….and the words came. I like archaic language, and at least my poetry is written in that style. My personal life’s mission is to bring as much beauty into the world as I can. Whether my journals, my writing, my teaching, and even the beautiful, poetic words of days gone by. Oh, look at me! I’m off on a tangent! LOL! 💕

I used a three-hole pamphlet stitch which is pretty standard with journal-makers. I don’t think I’ve ever done it on camera, but if you look it up on CZcams, you’ll find dozens of examples. 😊

There are two special pieces with hidden pockets. Each in a pocket in the front and back covers. Which one do you mean. In either case, yes, I do have tutorials. 💕
