I became a football and 49er fan when I was a kid in 1992. I am biased but the 1994 49ers are still the best team I have personally seen play.
I also, fell in love with the 94 NINERS. Most complete, talented team ever. If anything (weaknesses), John Madden said it "short yardage", but even that's a stretch.
It's a shame they broke it up the very Next yr, losing Sanders/Watters to FA, and Floyd (injury)
Thanks for all the info in the description WITHOUT spoilers
RIP Junior Seau! Great LB
Thanks for the video Buddy
San Diego needs the Chargers back. It's ridiculous they moved to L.A. to pay rent to the Rams to play in their stadium.
I remember watching this. Good memories.
2:21:37 Prime's best year!!
PRIMETIME.... greatest cover corner to play the game ever... 2:21:33
He could’ve EASILY went out of bounds and ended the game but where’s the money in that 😂😂😂😂
13:01, "Hey, that's bullsh!t !!"
I noticed that Young threw a lot to his check downs. They would nickel and dime you to death!
Look at that, those guys are playing real football.
The modern game is basically two hand touch on the QB. The defenses are limited.
They met in the Super Bowl like a month later...
Any AFC contender was going to be a big loser. The dominance of the NFC started in the early eighties with the 49ers and Redskins (that’s racist). Mike Shanahan and John Elway started turning that dominance in the other direction.

Thanks capt obvious.
No shit
2:21:33🏈🐐💯
SF going into this game had to be paying attention as this was the day after Dallas got tripped up by Cleveland at home on Saturday
You think the officials are a bit over officious now, this game takes the cake. 6 minutes was taken on one call. It was breathtaking!
The Day of the SWITCH from CBS to FOX.
Now neither San Diego nor San Francisco has a NFL team
Santa Clara is close enough.
SF still has an NFL team, but they play in Santa Clara. I see what you mean though, no NFL team plays in SF or San Diego proper.
Yes I love it!! The 49ers definitely took care of business the few times when the 49ers would play and defeat the Chargers at Jack Murphy Stadium (The Murph) in San Diego (Southern California), the same for when the Giants also did the same thing there at The Murph 90% of the time against the Padres, awesome stuff!! ❤️💛❤️💛🏈🏈🏈🏈🧡🖤🧡🖤⚾⚾⚾⚾ #SF49ers #SFGiants
Including the only NFL game I ever attended, which was the day Dan Fouts' #14 was retired by the Chargers at halftime. That was in 1988, and the hatred the fans in San Diego had for the Spanos family was apparent even then (the loudest booing I've ever heard was when Alex Spanos was introduced during the jersey retirement ceremony), nearly three decades before the franchise returned to Los Angeles. That game might have been the best performance by the 49ers all season long, as they routed the Chargers 48-10.
when did the y start the "tradition" of the Chargers and 49ers playing against each other in the last Pre-season game for both teams? (aside from 2023, it hasn't been like *THAT* in a while.)
They also played last year in 2022 or two years ago in 2021 during the month of August down in Southern California, at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles, and the 49ers also beat the Chargers in that game, I'm not sure about preseason tradition however every season between the 49ers and the Chargers though
John n pat funny asf😅😅😅 may they both rip
They never should have let watters go or deion. But probably couldn't afford deion
They were never the same after letting waters fo
As the comments said a preview of the Super Bowl. Well, whoever faced the Chargers that Super Bowl night either the 49ers or Cowboys would have crushed the Chargers. The AFC was still not good enough to beat the NFC in the Super Bowl yet.
The NFC had changed by this time. It was moreso Dallas and San Francisco > everybody than NFC > AFC
Outside of their Big Two, the rest of the NFC in 1994 left a lot to be desired. Only Minnesota won double digit games, while the AFC had 5 such teams.
This wasn’t like 1991 when 10-6 Philadelphia missed the playoffs.
Especially because the 49ers were a terrible match-up for that Chargers team, because their worst spot defensively was the secondary, and of course, the 49ers greatest strength during their dynasty was always their passing game, hence the twin 23-point losses in this game and the Super Bowl. While they likely wouldn't have been able to beat the Cowboys, had they faced Dallas in the Super Bowl, they might have been more competitive vs. Dallas than they were vs. the 49ers. But the Chargers clearly were the AFC's best team that season, having beaten the AFC's other two division champions (PIT and MIA) three times in a row in the three games leading up to the Super Bowl.
Interestingly the dominance was not from top-to-bottom (as it tended to be in reverse from ~1974 - 1980), but rather the best teams in the NFC were better than the best teams in the AFC. That’s why the inter-conference series was very close to being in the AFC’s favor for many of those years but they kept getting their clock cleaned in the SB throughout that following period.
@TheEsquireofSports.2.0nah. I don’t think so. They took on a wounded (in the secondary) Dallas team the next year in San Diego and still got beat 24-9.
@@brockgeorge777 1994 is a classic example. Outside of their Big Two, the rest of the NFC in 1994 left something to be desired as only Minnesota won double digit games. Heck the interconference series in 1994, the NFC only won by a narrow margin of 27-25.
It would get worse 6 weeks later San Diego
At 2:05:21 it's 4th and goal, then the run gets stuffed on the next play. They go to a McDonalds game break and come back to the Chargers having made a touchdown? Makes no sense. Obviously there's footage missing.
Well it’s not like SD was ever in it.
