Yea 49ers been in a superbowl every decade since 1981 season but 49ers dynasty started in this game but it took 8 yrs for the 49ers to have a dynasty cause it was 1981 to 1989 they won 4 superbowls but they coulda won atleast 2 or 3 more superbowls after the 1989 season but cowboys got in there way in nfc championship games except for 1994 season when 49ers got there 5th superbowl win in 14 yrs from 1981 to 1994.

The Pontiac Silverdome was the biggest home field advantage in NFL history that was wasted away. 80,000 boozed up Detroiters smoking cigars from their seats right on top of the field.

The Bengals defense played a great game. It was the turnovers by the Bengals offense & special teams that put their defense in a bad position especially near their goal line which the 49ers came away with a then Super Bowl record 4 FG's.
The 49ers offense were held to 275 yards for the entire game and in the second half had only around 55 yards of total offense, but built that 20-0 first half lead which was enough to win by 5 points.

Defenses who could hit hard and not let up on a blitz due to the worry of a flag. That kid would be lost if he actually had to read defenses and then on IR if they hit him. @@NFLVault Especially in an era when the Super Bowl was often anti-climatic. Of course, this Super Bowl had a lot to live up to, considering the incredible games that were played during that post-season to lead up to it.
One of the odd things about the 1981 NFL post-season was what an indicator the regular season meetings between the teams that met in the conference championship games and in the Super Bowl would end up being. The Bengals faced the Chargers in the regular season, as did the 49ers and Cowboys, and the result of the regular season match-up was replicated in the post-season match-ups, and the same was true regarding the teams that met in the Super Bowl, because the 49ers and Bengals had played each other late in the regular season, and again, the result of the regular season match-up was replicated in the Super Bowl.

You could re-edit this clip and include another 20 minutes of Madden-specific stuff and the video would be vastly superior. You can’t find this game anywhere on the internet so it would be well worth it to include more of it here.

Most people when they think of the 49ers dynasty in the 80s think of Joe Montana and the high-powered offense. Watching this game though, defense and special teams are what clinched their first world title. 2 interceptions of a great QB in Ken Anderson, a crucial goal line stand, and Ray Wersching going 4/4 and executing those two incredible squib kicks to pin the Bengals deep and then get the ball back for another field goal to end the half. Montana may have won MVP with a characteristically great performance, but he can thank the defense and special teams for putting him in a position to succeed.
