    This film was was deep, rugged, earthy, real, and above all hopeful, and so well brilliantly portrayed by Alec and Josh. As a Yorkshire lad, I am glad that the Francis Lee showed how beautiful our part of the world is, and how sometimes the private struggles of people that would go unnoticed have found a champion in the making of this film. Also, I swear with each CZcams video, Alec's beard gets bigger is taking on a life of it's own...

    This movie opens my mind to a more profound human connection and relationship. I love it far better than some big budget movies.

    Absolutely love their personalities...(and Francis's voice and Alec's smile :)) Really sad that Josh did not receive the award he was nominated for. He really completely changed his personality for that role.

    An inspiring movie where the actors dealt with his own issue regarding their life's predicament. The exploration of their emotions regarding their sexuality was done in a hummane way. I truly enjoyed the manly demeanor of Alex. The direction was superbly done and the actors were gently nudge to give their all.

    Why do people always compare this movie to Brokeback Mountain? Aside from Farm life, everything else are completely different...🙄

    As a gay man from England myself. I Thought that this was a rather implausible relationship. Perhaps if the film was set 50 years ago but as of 2018 .... the first scene where they get together ... Is completely unrealistic.

    • @soraninja
      @soraninja Před 5 lety

      @John Neary interestingly enough I watched this in Los Angeles with my two 50 year old American ex boyfriends. One who thought it was possible and the other (a famous play write) who didnt.
      I guess growing up in America vs England can make all the difference.

    • @bobbygordon5377
      @bobbygordon5377 Před 5 lety +1

      @John Neary I totally agree with you I grew up in the rules South and when you fall in love with someone that people do not think you should be in love with and if it is with the opposite sex it's really hard and difficult

    • @eyesintheroad
      @eyesintheroad Před 3 lety

      for me the most unrealistic part was the ending. I don´t think the family would accept the relationship or that Alec's character would actually come back to the farm. It's nice to have a happy ending in a gay movie for a change, though.

    • @peerah
      @peerah Před 3 lety +1

      @@eyesintheroad I know....but I mean what's the alternative though? Turning Gheorghe away and potentially losing Johnny who is now the only hope for both of them? During the last father-son scene it is hinted that the possibility of Johnny leaving and never ever coming back is undoubtedly in the back of everyone's mind. The father's acknowledgement of Johnny's contribution to the farm and wanting him to be happy, and nan providing info about Gheorghe's new job just show that they're willing to compromise for the sake of the family. I also believe they know he's gay and may even have had a history of guys, so Johnny's determination to be with his true love is not that shocking to them.

    • @TARS20
      @TARS20 Před rokem

      @@eyesintheroad I think the nan already know of John's sexuality, considering he was already out for awhile to his friends, and for a small town, it's just not easy to keep that a secret especially when you're already out to some people. Judging by Nan's reactions over the condom, the remarks "He's a good lad" she knew. The father didn't really know, but I supposed he came to terms with it during the talk especially when he asked John if it makes him happy. John has been a fuck up for awhile and it pissed off his family, but when Gheorghe came, they noticed he started to change for the better and I believe the family would prefer that than fuck up John.
