The interview took place in Alec's native Romania at the 2017 Transylvanian Film Festival.
Plot: Spring. Yorkshire. Young farmer Johnny Saxby numbs his daily frustrations with binge drinking and casual sex, until the arrival of a Romanian migrant worker for lambing season ignites an intense relationship that sets Johnny on a new path.

I never thought I would ever crush so hard on an actor. It’s never happened to me. I saw this man, Alec Secareanu in Gods own country, and fell in love with him and his performance.

Alec was just perfect casting for this. Not only his remarkable acting skills - he has a kind face, warm brown eyes, and a soothing voice.
I think the physical difference between him and Josh portrays the personality difference so well.
Alec is so shy, he looks very reserved but is so bright when talking, I Love his eyes so much. Im attracted to him.
What a beautiful film and performances. Not a false note. I cried like a baby.

I love the way Alec looks to Francis for help on saying "one another." His "thank you" is so cute.
I love that part too
What moved me the most was using "touching hands" expressing what could not be said openly . Father to son, son to father Georghe to Johnny. These are so remarkably powerfull scenes that make me cry everytime i rewatch the movie.
This movie is incredible. A rare, authentic jewel of a movie.

Yeah, the boys aren't recognized by English film prominence, and he neglected to mention Gemma Jones, who's been acting for decades, but was making the broad (and true) statement that the guys are not seen (by the Western audience) as "star attractions.".

Alec has a engaged status with a Romanian lady called Cristina on his personal FB account since 2003. Who knows whether if they're real couple in real life or just BFF. I like him so much, more than I do to Josh. Regardless of him being straight or gay, I sincerely wish him prosperity and has a successful happy life. Thank you for the movie, I'm immersed and weak at it 😭

This little gem is a masterpiece in so many ways, from the very talented actors to the breathtaking landscapes and the incredible genuinity of the love story and so much more. And thank God it has a happy ending for once which is not common in LGBT films unfortunately!

A film with real depth and soul😢
Masterpiece....absolutely. The most moving beautiful film in decades. Having also grown up in the farmland of the northern mountains...and being gay, i completely related to every scene, the cold, the dirt, the greyness, lambing of sheep...mucking out the cow sheds. I could sense every part of it, I know how freezing that tarn water was!!!...as Ive been there. Well done. Just brilliant. XXX

I found this movie on netflix by mistake, Not expect what the subject matter was about, I thought it was another foreign movie, because it starts in rural country side it later became clear what it was. I give it 5 stars ! Great editing, acting, script, sex scenes, music

Alec’s performance in this film as a more mature confident guy is noteworthy as the character is quiet & tender. He has a good voice too! Josh shared his BIF award with Alec showed the beautiful collaboration they had was lovely to see. 👏🙌🎉

Having just returned from Wales, with its stone walls and hundreds of sheep, this film caught my eye while flipping through Netflix, and boy oh boy, WHAT A FIND!
What a journey of love, trust and maturation, with a worthy ending and authenticity throughout.
The acting, directing and heart of this film all are stellar. Both Josh and Alec were amazing. Thank you to Mr. Lee for so beautifully creating this film!
I love Alec! It’s crazy how much Alec’s Romanian accent, sounds like Javier Bardem’s Spanish accent! I love them both.

As much as I want a sequel, this movie doesn't really need one. It ended on a happy note and seems like there's nothing much to see next
Great director great actors all around. They all work to make me believe in the characters and who they were portraying. The main focus I saw as a gay man was not on them being gay, but on the love they shared or developed as two people. It's a movie that makes me keep thinking. Great work
Both actors were fantastic, but Alec had a strong, yet quiet presence - an ageless wisdom which helped influence Josh's character and assure the audience of his goodness. You could trust him implicitly to do the right thing. Alec didn't need a lot of dialogue to pull it off - the mark of a fine actor.

I saw the film yesterday afternoon, blown away, everything about it was so subtle (Not the sex scenes I have to add) and each scene, when you think back on it, meant something later on. Up until today "Dunkirk" was my favourite film of the year, nuff said.
Oh and I have to add that Alec is an impossibly handsome man

They did an amazing movie with such few resources. Well, few but outstanding quality resources: excellent director and precious actors:Josh and Alec, the lady and the gentleman who played the senior characters , the girl, and the boy who caused trouble to Johnny. Even the sheep were great!!! Hope to see Josh and Alec together again
Gods Own Country is the most touching sincere video I have ever encountered. I could watch it again an again, and I do. It always brings a little tear when they are reunited after the brief separation. Josh and Alec were so well matched. I hope in real life they can play the part. Thanks for sharing an incredible film. Well done. Looking forward to the next episode!

Wow. I watched the movie and watching these interviews, impresses me even more.! Wow, again.... This completely shows the masterpiece that Francis created. And this creation could not have happened without Alex and Josh playing their characters. I really don't know how they transformed themselves. I guess that is true acting. Thanks for an unbelievable picture.! I will look forward to Francis' next movie.
This film reminded me of the American film "Brokeback Mountain". I was extremely pleased with the ending, since the Brokeback film ended on a more tragic note. The 2 main characters were excellent.

A powerful and visionary film that is so authentic. Alec and Josh give brilliant performances in very complex roles.

Sad gay movies is honestly DEPRESSING! I have to say that I cried a lot in Elio's scene on the last part (CMBYN), though.

Phenomenal movie - and great interview
A truly wonderful film! What I particularly loved about it is that uplifting feeling of hope in the end, without any sugar-coated, fairy-tale soppiness along the lines of "and they lived happily ever after".
(Just one point of dissonance/incoherence, kind of: How gorgeous, bright, sensible, in short absolutely lovely Gheorghe could fall for mostly dumb brute Johnny remains a bit of a mystery to me.. Could someone fill me in?)

My guess is that Gheorge saw the potential in him. Saw the good heart beneath all those layers of frustration and anger.
e wie I think Johnny represents hope for Gheorghe, as much as Gheorghe represents hope for Johnny. Here is a gay man who has escaped a very homophobic culture in Eastern Europe. His family lost their farm. He is taking any job he can to survive. He clearly loves the farm life and open spaces. We see that after leaving Johnny's farm he is working at a large industrial farm where all the natural beauty is replaced with machines. Just a depressing, impersonal environment that doesn't suit him at all. It is just a business. Johnny is rescuing Gheorghe as much as Gheorghe is rescuing Johnny.

That was an interesting take on the very last scene of the movie when Josh and Alec walk into the house (after seeing the mobile home being driven away) and as Francis noted it was an exclamation point to "slam that door shut and we should all go away and let them get on with their lives". I hadn't thought about that. Very nice, indeed.
