  • So my I noticed a little bit of sag and worn door pins on my RV entry door. Fixed it today with 3 stainless steel lock washers. Opened them up to install then pinched them back together with some small channel locks.

Great tip 👍, , didn’t have vice grips on hand so slipped the lock washer over a large Phillips screw driver shaft then gently tapped a small 8 mm socket over the washer, opened right up, doesn’t damage Phillips head as it lined up well clearing the head, thanks 🙏....

Like Jammin along I just “happened on” your channel. And was impressed with your door fix. Having a life of creative fixing it is so enlightened to see this does still exist. Not everyone has this ability to be “problem solvers”. I subscribed and hope you have other creative fixes in the future.

I'm really surprised that I haven't had to do anything else and my door is still working perfect after almost 4 years of full time living in my RV.

Nice job adapting and overcoming! I did this before but now was trying to find actual door hinge adjusting washers. They don't exist so this video inspired me to make my own again! Thanks!

Thanks for sharing that idea, I just finished the repair on my door here at the campground, now there's no lifting the door to lock it.

    good fix.
I've rebuilt 2 of these style doors.
Major leak issue that will rot the door and the interior floor / threshold is the crappy standard RV window and plastic frame.
the fix is to remove the window frame and rebed with butyl tape.(NEVER USE ANY TYPE OF SILICONE SEALER ON AN RV PERIOD! IT DOESN'T SEAL LONG TERM AND WHEN IT FAILS NEWLY APPLIED SILICONE DOES NOT ADHERE TO THE OLD. NOTHING WILL ADHERE TO OLD SILICONE UNLESS ALL OF IT IS REMOVED AND THE SURFACES COMPLETELY CLEANED WITH ACETONE ) the frame is weather cracked toss it and buy a new one, it's cheap and available.
if the exterior Filon ( yes its called Filon, a special very thin and EXPENSIVE RV specific door skin) is torn or damaged ,it can be replaced with FRP( fiberglass reinforced panel lowes, etc)
it is thicker than Filon and the new rebuild wood will need to be planed down accordingly.
The real issue is the new foam replacement. I used 1.5" Rigid pink or blue foam insulation .
1.5" is about 3\16" to thick. I could not figure a way to plane it thinnrt .This creates an issue when getting the door frame reassembled , it can be done but creates a pucker in the field area of the door, even with good Foam board compatible adhesives.

Thanks for your video.... It looks like it should work and II will be trying it on my door that is very hard to close - it does appear to be sagging and those two 3/8"? bolts on the door do not fit into the grooves on the coach. The receiving grooves can not be placed any lower. My screen door also drags on the end that the magnet for the steps is on. I will try that also in the next couple of days.

+Patrick TheBaptist Awesome, glad the video helped. Yeah those vise grips are really cool. Can be a bit wide when they first start to get tight but it's nice not having to adjust the size every single time.

Good fix on the door. The motorcycle rack could definitely use a little redesign around the 2" receiver attachment area like a couple gussets on each side.

    • @RVCrazy
      @RVCrazy  Před 9 lety

+CITAP1 Thanks, I was originally planning on adding 2 more 2" receivers right where the frame rails are but I am planning on getting a new motorcycle rack instead that is just designed a lot sturdier.

Also, if you're going to get air bags, check out www.tlcentral.com Torklifts online outlet. I got the firestones a few years back and am totally happy with them. Mine have had a hard life and are still in good working order. You can use them to level out your ride.

+CITAP1 I actually already have a set of airbags with the pump and all that are currently still installed on an f250. They are 3 years old but the truck has just sat. I think they were Firestones but I can't remember for sure.

+Bill Baxter That actually came on the RV when i purchased it. It's the only lock I use. Residential lock for sure that i would assume was added at some point by a previous owner but I can't say for sure.
