- #GSXR1000 This history of Suzuki motorcycles first started as the Suzuki Loom Company in Hamamatsu, Japan. Back then, the Suzuki we know and love today has come a long way from first producing industrial looms for the silk industry.
This is seen when you take a look at the history of Suzuki. The company has made wildly popular motorcycles since they found their stride in 1952, and their styles range from the speedy sportbikes like the GSX-R series to the cool cruiser Boulevard models.
For over 30 years, the “people’s superbike” has been a favorite, recognizable staple of the sportbike world. Let’s check out the timeline of the Suzuki #Gixxer GSX-R line.

2005 K5 was the best GSXR until 2017 L7 came out.
These GSXRs really made for hardcore riders.

My "all black" k5 Yoshimura (special version for Italy) still runs very well after 15 years. 😎
And even the aesthetics aged well. I’ve had 2 k5’s and 1 k6 partly because of the looks too. Sexyyyyy.
Absolutely agree, I used to drive a k5, really the perfect machine, then a L1 ....... Not so happy, finally I drive a L7 , again like K5, even if I say K5 with its brutal power, lightness and not catalyzer stock.... Was right better than L7. I'd like to turn back. I can also assert I can't experience all that HP difference between K5 and L7, even if the new one has 202, the 178 HP from K5 were, how can I say: much more real.
Gone through a few of those the Gsxr 750 '86 model, 750 wp, 1000 k6, 1000k9 and current bike 1000 l6 , absolutely love it.

the 96 & 03 gsxr have tht deep beastly sound i love. i have a 98 gsxr 750 with two brothers .. she a beast for sure.. i will never buy anything but Suzuki when it comes to sport bikes.

2jz Fox I’m lucky enough to own a 90 GSXR400R SP1. The 84 was the first GSXR, but maybe the 90/91 GSXR400R was the prettiest. 😊

Man i miss my 92 slingshot 1127 42mm mikuni carburetors. Stretched 5inch little spray lowered Chrome wheels. Was a good time in 2000 in INDY !!! And 92 was the last of the oil cooled bikes for gsxr

I have had a couple of these and seriously doubt the claimed weight an 85 750 and a 03 1000. Still excellent sports bikes. If I was 20 years younger a new one would be on the menu for sure.

Had a 94 gsxr 1100, kinda miss that monster, weighed over 500lbs but was very stable at 180+mph
Still have the 86 Suzuki catalogue I drooled over as 14/15yr old. Finally got a 92 750 then a K5 750. Shame they didn't show the 1100 in the vid.

Dawson Riffel nope. Use to hit 189mph on my 2003 gsxr 1000 all the time. Only had a yoshimura exhaust on it.

Puzzled why there is no mention of the 1100's? As a one time owner of a GSXR1100WP (the best bike ever IMO), why not cover the 1100 range too? You give us the history of the 750's...

David Jackson I have a 2017, I like it a lot it’s so ungodly fast and uncommon which is my favorite part. I’ve had more people come up to me at gas stations having never seen one before. The one downside I have to say is it runs quite hot compared to my old 750 and will roast your right leg.
