The Weirdest Theme Park in America - Enchanted Forest Vlog Summer 2021
Vložit
- čas přidán 3. 08. 2024
- This bizarre theme park in Salem, Oregon is centered around classic children fairytale's, much in the style of Efteling in the Netherlands. They're only home to two roller coasters, one of which is mostly a log flume, the other which straps you into a plexiglass box. The park is elaborately themed, and because of the dense forest the park is located in, you can't see anything until you're already there!

Mines the Journey to Atlantis theme
You forgot to mention that this entire park was built by one man (and in later years his family). And that Walt Disney sent his imagineers up here to see how one man could do all this alone, and his team was (at the time) struggling… My wife’s grandmother went to school with and was friends with Roger Tofte.
wait so Walt Disney knew about this park?
@@macias7125 yup. He sure did. And was fascinated by how he did it as a one man show.
@@SweetBlu wow I never knew this park had history lol
@@macias7125 lots of it.
Your confusing different stories a little. We didn’t open until after Disney died so no he did not know
Me: Can we go on Expedition Everest?
Mom: We have Expedition Everest at home!
Expedition Everest at home: 8:16
Matterhorn bobsleds would be a better comparison imo
Thanks for shining some light on our little quirky park. The Tofte family does a great job keeping the park alive, and I was happy to see them survive the pandemic and a damaging winter ice storm. I would love to see them build another coaster, or ride, something using the terrain.
The Monroe ride was the first modern trackless ride system installed in the county. It’s a well known fact that Disney imagining went too this park too see it in action. So in a way without the enchanted forest we might not have rise of the resistance.
I mean Oregon is weird, so... yeah. I've been at Enchanted Forest about four times.
Austin is weirder .
I remember going to this park when I was a kid in the '80s. I'm surprised and delighted to learn that not only is it still there, but it's almost exactly the same as I remember it. There's comfort in that.
“Discount Efteling” nah man it’s discount Storybook Land
This park is ten times better than storybook land imo
@@mrknowhere6457 yea ik lmao
The one in NJ?
This place is a total trip, but it's definitely not to be missed if you're in the area. Shame you skipped Challenge of Mondor...it's a trackless shooting dark ride that is among the best I've seen at a non-destination park.
I grew up in Oregon and went to this place as a kid. Really made me smile seeing all the old memories. The Log Ride and the Plexiglass were there back in the 90's, and it looks like it's aged surprisingly well.
The fact that the whole place (aside from the rides) was pretty much built by just Roger Tofte and his family is pretty awesome.
Also, the coaster with the enclosed cars is actually a retrofit of an alpine slide type attraction which is why it has such tight clearances.
Been there! Love it. Their enclosed, imitation Matterhorn is crazy.
These "Story Book Land"-type attractions used to be all over the US. Most were not this elaborate, though. I suspect a lot of them opened either in the wake of Disneyland, or even a bit in advance of Disneyland inspired by Disneyland's advance publicity. The main attraction would be these fairytale walkthroughs and maybe there would be one or two rides. I went to one in Woodbridge, Virginia when I was a kid.
Most of them are gone now, but Story Land in NH is one that survived and grew into a full-scale family theme park, and there are several others that people in these comments are describing.
Your glenwood caverns clips were used in an inside edition video that’s wild
It's like Disney and Efterling got together and smoked some bad weed, at Six Flags
When she said this is the playlist inside my heart I couldn't stop laughing at that lmao!
This park looks amazing! Has been on our bucket list for quite a while.
Love these vlogs Taylor, keep it going, I’ve been inspired by many coaster youtubers, you’re one of them for sure
Loved the video, it brought back memories for me, I visited Enchanted Forest in 2008 my favorite ride there was the big timber Log ride, and I do agree that it is a one and done park but it will surprise you, it did me great video once again!!!
Love this place, but probably more so because you vlogged with your family. Great vid.
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. Some kids found him, and brought him home, they cracked his egg and fried him up.
Yummy yummy eggs for dinner.
Great vlog on a local gem. This park has been through some struggles in recent years so it is good to see it being featured. I am glad you got to this park on one of the cool days of the summer. Temperatures throughout most of the summer have been above average with one day in Salem going up to 117 degrees, 116 in Portland and 108 in Seattle. To give you an idea how hot that is the all time temperature in Washington D.C. was 106. Obviously Washington D.C. is far more humid but 117 is downright unbearable no matter what the humidity is.
this looks like such a lovable place.
this place looks super mystical i love it
Went here a couple times as a kid, I remember even back then the commercials made me think it was just a Disneyland ripoff. I thought everywhere had a cheap local version of Disneyland until a couple years ago when the internet got weirdly obsessed with how weird it is, I'm visiting Salem in a month and am debating going back to relive some childhood nostalgia but without a Car it's kind of difficult to get to.
I loved this place growing up, but it was terrifying too haha. Glad you are supporting these guys after the wildfires last year.
oh no what happened
The sky was blood red. Pics from the park looked like they were from Mars.
“Kids can go in this and come out the other end” please, I go in that tunnel every time I go there and I am 43 lol
Yay a video with your family
Ugghhhh Challenge of Mondor is the most themed ride there and is a great ride overall! Highly recommend when you go!
I thought you were alone for a while before your family came on camera 😅 Was a nice change of pace from your recent vlogs for sure! Cool look at a quote obscure little park I didn’t even know existed! I’ll have to add it to my list for one day
*quite
I love this place!!
The log flume almost looks like it rides like a mini Buzzsaw Falls
Can't wait for the launch coaster conversion
Dusty Bucket-Coming 2022 To Enchanted Forest Oregon
I go to a lot of music festivals and your sister has a very festival vibe to her look. ✌️💙☯️🤝
Have you been to Idlewild and seen Storybook forest, along with the Mr. Rogers trolley ride? This place kinda reminds me of that on a larger scale.
exactly what I was thinking about Idlewild
Log ride looks pretty legit
This used to be my home park until I moved to Oklahoma and oh my god this is a great park if you are a kid! Ice Mountain is a great 1st coaster other than the fact that it kinda stinks inside the mountain and you cant go wrong drinking some hot chocolate going through the story area, and then getting a pizza at lunch time and watching the water show!
That maze you went through made me think of the 5,000 sq. foot wooden maze I did in Indiana. Took me 19 minutes according to my "time card" (there's a time clock that you punch your card with). It felt longer than that, though. :) If I ever go to Oregon, I'd definitely check out Enchanted Forest!
Watch your videos all the time! Knew I recognized who you were with though, used to take tennis classes from him at MAC haha
Oh no way! That’s crazy! I worked there briefly one year back when I was in high school!
Reminds me of the gullivers parks in the uk, tacky, weird with lots of charm
Oh my gosh Taylors haunted mine drop footage and Glenwood caverns vlog are on inside edition! Thats cool (not what happened on the ride, but his footage being on national tv)
This reminds me of that one episode of goosebumps...
Lol
Rachel looks excited to be there
This is the most weirdest amusement park I have ever seen
More families that coaster plz ❤️
that's so cool~~
I like this video😊👍❤️
I have never heard of this park, but it seems interesting
I’m 41 now but back when I was younger in the 80s my mother & her sisters took all of the kids to a place called the Enchanted forest & it was from what I remember they same type of vibe the park you were at has. I know for sure it wasn’t the one you were at because I’m from Maryland & never been to the west coast. The park we went to had to be in MD, VA or DE.
The old park was in Ellicott City, MD. Clark's Elioak Farm acquired many of the structures in 2005, 10 years after the old park closed.
@@tonybaloney84 thank you, I always wondered about that park. I knew I wasn’t making things up, I really remember going when I was younger.
It looks fun
Taylor Bybee looking so strange in the thumbnail lmao!
TAYLOR! You got on Inside Edition! Your famous now! W
Def more than a one and done! I've gone a couple times in the last couple years. You keep seeing things you've missed every time you go back. Also, Challenge of Mondor is a nifty LOTR rip off story line with lots of Dragons and Wizards and stuff. Original IP, baby!
RETURN OF THE TEMPESTO PASTA LADY
In Oregon this is our THEME PARK god
This gives me serious Story Land in NH vibes
I’m pretty sure Ghost Adventures did an episode at this park.
Was looking for this comment lol
find any ghosts?
PRO TIP - All you got to do in MAZE is keep you hand on either the left or right wall and you will eventually make it out!
Efteling indeed started out as an enchanted forest, but has grown huge! Next year Efteling will celebrate 70 years and 2023 they are going to expand the park and Efteling will finally get an Intamin launched coaster ;-)
Taylor's parents are awesome.
it's funny how this is the nearest theme park to me but I grew up in Santa Clarita and went all the time to magic mountain and even worked there to this being the nearest park too me
The glenwood caverns video is really made of GP
Very reminiscent of the front half of Tripsdrill.
When are the coaster parodies coming back
After This is How We Roll is out!
@@CoasterStudios alr bet also can u do a twisted colossus parody plz
@@Reality_a_thing I’m curious about that too he probably is
@@Reality_a_thing Takoda lives in oregon now so they probably recorded some stuff for the next parody there. This is how we roll is releasing on October 8th iirc.
1:52 Josh from Kings Dominion scouting out his competition
i rember seeing this park on ghost adventures , some parts of the park might be haunted as well . this is such a weird park by the way.
I’m surprised it’s not in the very center of Portland😂
There’s a cool Crooked house at Arnold’s park in Okoboji Iowa also I nice little park with a wood coaster but don’t ride the rocket ship that goes in vertical circles really painful although might have been improved.
Sadly this is the only amusement park Oregon has! Can you do anything about that? Oh I forget, Oaks amusement park in Portland... Even older than the Enchanted Forest... But it does have a million dollar coaster in it... 🤪
This looks so creepy dont get me wrong, but really cool actually
That witch at 4:54 is nightmare fuel
Ive been there and i must say i like it better then anyother themepark
The only place in the world you can see Dismey-themed Aminatromics®
🔥
At 10:02, the man at the end of the line looks exactly like Steve Carrell!
"I'm bout' to get eaten" 😳
Hey Taylor that park is actually haunted idk if you watch ghost adventures but they investigated that park its active at night. 👻👀😱
11:17 Muh rollercoaster section
Ghost Adventures actually did an episode about this place 👻
Hey Taylor I was wondering how you travel so much. It seems every week your on the other side of the country at new park. Does your job let you travel this much? Is CZcams your job?
off topic: Thoughts on the haunted mine drop accident at glenwood caverns?
His thoughts. 32 seconds in.
czcams.com/video/qKZcZHGzeY4/video.html
🔥🔥🔥🔥 idk what this is xd
Why is josh from kings dominion at my home park is he trying to steal our coaster???
1:00 Are those railings actually made of wood or am I just really dumb? I'm not kidding, I can't tell if that's wood or metal.
definitely wood...
Normal metal railings with cement texture on top to look like wood
We have an enchanted forest an hour from me in Old Forge NY its a water park though
Have you heard about the accident at glendwood park? you were featured in Inside Edition
will we get a park review of this place?
Yes
Did the log flume have any airtime?
Hi Taylor's mom!
Hi!
0:40 "The theme is Detroit?"
- my daughter
Hey Tyler, have you authorized Inside Edition to use your footage of that GP Paradise park in colorado?
Yes
@@CoasterStudios Awesome! I've heard of them not reporting well sometimes. I'm so glad to see that two channels I watch are sharing content. That accident was really tragic though and marks another horrible incident in the horrible operating year of 2021.
I thought this was water safari and enchanted forest in old forge ny. Close enough
Perhaps the place was possessed by voodoo donuts or something.
Voodoo donuts
1:50 you went with your parents to Oregon?
Yes
When was this filmed
Back in July
HEY! Keep Josh from Kings Dominion away from our PNW theme parks! Silverwood aside, they suck enough already!😜
Ladies and gentlemen please welcome to the stage Groucho Marxxx
Anyone else remember this place from ghost adventures
Taylor's mom is so wholesome!
"I didn't like it... no offense :D"
Why are josh from kings dominion and the tempesto lady there?
