The Y700 has some amazing desktop level cooling damn. Nowadays what all laptop manufacturers target is awful 90 degrees on the CPU, and getting 80 is considered an achievement. Pathetic marketing tactics, how difficult is it to cool those 30W CPUs?
have you tried Final Fantasy XV ? Nice vid btw

final thì vừa đủ chơi normal còn phần mềm hiện fps thì bạn dùng msi after burner nha . nếu ko biết dùng thì có thể xem hướng dẫn trên youtube luôn

Wow. I didn't know if you can overclock the 960m. I wonder how dangerous that is or worth it.

So if you were to play gta 5 on a 960m, what type of graphic settings would you recommend?

(MEDIUM TO HIGH) 40-50 FPS
(MEDIUM) 50-60 FPS

Why your cpu downclocking to 2Ghz?6300/7300 have turbo speeds up to 3/3.1Ghz.For some reason, it's not working.Maybe temperatures was too high!
TypeKraken
1. The all core turbo of the 6300hq is 2.8 (that's why I downclocked the 7300 to match that). But it's not always using those 2.8 Ghz if the GPU is the bottleneck. Temperatures for this cpu are perfectly fine so it won't thermal throttle at all. It's just how laptops behave.
czcams.com/video/bP_GbKprryU/video.html
i5 7300hq holds 3.1Ghz turbo on all cores. This cpu has 3.5GHz is single core turbo - 3.1GHz is all core turbo (4)
TypeKraken I know. But the 6300hq only has an all core turbo of 2800mhz. To match both cpus I downclocked the 7300hq to 2800 Mhz, so both cpus would be identical and only the GPU made the difference.
Understand :) Anyway ,nice video! One question, how much better gtx 1050Ti than 1050?
can you combine this with the new 1650 Benchmark? I think 1050 lost performance over a year.
Go with the 1650. It's been said to have over 25% performance increase compared to 1050ti. And 1050ti is already better than the normal 1050.

Haven't testet that yet. Will do so probably!
If you want to play 50 - 60 FPS ON 960M upgrade your drive in PCIE NVME M2 SSD install game in that drive I USED this method practilly. I got Much better FPS than Before.
hi I have a question, with a Asus Rog GL 752VW with a Nvidia 960M, can I devolop with unity and Unreal engine?
With Unity - yes, absolutely. I have a laptop with 1050Ti and i7-7700HQ, have no problems with Unity at all.
Unreal... Well, the engine is garbage, Imho. Because it has some weird issues with laptops: like drastically dropping performance for 10-15 seconds every minute or two in editor. It's not in play mode, it's just in editor, you play around with assets on the scene, move and rotate things and than you suddenly get 1-2 fps for no reason. It worked this way on my old laptop with 750m, it works the same on my current 1050Ti laptop.
Not to mention the ridiculous things like broken projects when you delete a *.c file from the project, and then the editor says "Hey, I'm not gonna load the project. You have compile errors, fix them first." The funny thing is there's no compile errors in IDE, I've refactored the code before deleting that unnecessary class from the project. But the Epic Fail Editor doesn't care, and I have no access to the project at all. At the same time Unity always allows me to load the project and check errors in the editor along with the IDE. And in general Unity is totally superior when it comes to usability and stability. Yeah, UE4 has prettier graphics abilities, but who cares if the engine sucks in general?

Is it worth to buy a lenovo y700 in 2024? Cost around $300 in my area.
Is there a big difference between gtx 1050 4gb and gtx 1050 3gb?
No. Not big. Very little. Except if you're in a situation where you you need more than 3gb due to your graphic settings. Then the 3gb version will become much slower. But as long as you stay below 3 gb they are basically identical in terms of performance.
if you mean for laptops the 3 gb is better if you didn't use more than 3 gb except if it is the 1050 ti
First time builder here, so please excuse the elementary question. Which side is GTX1050 and which side is 960M?

@@Hubwood Thanks so much for answering me! I wasn't sure if you would, it's been over a year since you posted. As far as im concerned both are good graphics chips. I bought the Asus Gl552VW with the 960m and a I7-6700HQ and its great for only 280 Canadian dollars (via Kijiji). The battery is the best part at 43 percent wear level and 512 cycle count it still lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes. I also have the Acer Nitro 5 I7-7700HQ with a gtx 1050tI from 2017 the Asus is from 2016. If it wasn't for the battery dieing in the Acer I would have never bought the Asus laptop. If the laptop is new then no. Rather go with a gtx 1050ti. If you are getting a good deal on a used 960m then go ahead.
No. Maybe 965m (4 GB version) or 970m if you looking for a cheap used one. Else get 1050/1050ti if you can manage. 960m was outdated from the get go.
go with a 1050, Why? not only you'll get a better gpu with the newest laptop, you'll get better cpu, and other features. For example, the laptop with the 960 may not have an nvme slot in case you wanna add an nvme ssd or something like that :)

It is either
1.) RAM (check if your ram is fully used when gaming
2.) VRAM (of your gpu) try to set the texture quality to lowest and see if the stucking still happens
3.) Your Hard Disk. If your HD is too slow your pc can't render stuff faster...
hmm I don't think a GTX 960m can handle Nier Automata lol :D maybe at 720p on medium settings to have about 45fps average. However GTX 1050 can do 45fps average on high settings on 900p or 30fps in average on 1080p on low settings.
I have recently upgraded to full size gtx 1060 gddr5x.its much faster than gtx 1050 ti and I getting about 60fps on very high 1080p on nier: automata.cpu is i5 4460.instead buy gtx 1060 twice as fast as a 1050ti and more stable .

Settings on the oc on the 1050?
I didn't OC it. I know it looks like it's too high, but I double checked it.
The 1205 Mhz for the 960m is fine. The 1050 should tell us 1500 Mhz but shows these 1720 Mhz instead. If I overclock it with 190 Mhz (Core) and 350 Mhz (Memory) it actually shows 1900 Mhz!
So I'm guessing either MSI Afterburner is giving wrong numbers (which I think is happening here, because when I don't game it shows 0 C° and 0 Mhz for Core and Memory on the GTX 1050) or my Modell would be 200 Mhz too high which I don't think is true cause then temperatures would be much higher.
@@Hubwood msi afterburner isn't showing wrong info. It's nvidia boost 3.0. It boosts the core clock much higher than the written specs. GTX 960m has boost 2.0 that's why it's on 1205mhz which is what the spec'd speed. Boost 3.0 is only available from pascal series.
It's Sept 2018, can any Pro comment should I buy 960M on laptop for my son's modern gaming. ??
I don't see too much difference visually, but probably I'm missing somethin). Tx again
Viktor M gtx 1050 or 1050 ti would be the way to go. I was able to score a Dell 7000 with gtx 1050 used for $300. Slap a SSD in it and I was good to go. Facebook Market has awesome deals
Viktor, to clarify: There is no visual difference. But the GTX 1050 can display the visuals FASTER. Meaning with more FPS (frames per second).
The FPS Value (white number) is the only interesting fact in this video.
Gamers usually need at least 30 FPS at all times to have the impression of "fluent" gaming. Some even need at least 60 FPS.
To achieve that with slower Grahic Cards, you need to lower the graphic settings and/or resolution.
The 1050 is quite a bit faster and therefore safer for the future. It will last longer and it will be able to play newer games with 30fps or more more likely.
Don’t waste money on 1050 laptops. Unless you can get it like this dude @Luis sumaya for $300. 1050/1050ti are trash. Add a little bit more for a 1060. Far better performance. 1060 is even better then a 980M. So dont waste money on a rip off product 1050. And a 1060 laptops are not even that far different in price.
Viktor M At minimum get a GTX 970m or 1050ti. If you can afford it get a GTX 980m or 1060. Anything less powerful really isn’t worth buying at this point.
ok so I really really prefer you to buy 1060 or 960M both are really good so it's your choice!

2 GBs is too low for modern games. It was okay-ish for 1024*720 resolutions, but these days 1920*1080 is the start point (and the standard on laptops), you have to have at least 4 GBs. Notice: video memory usage mostly depends on the screen resolution and textures quality.

@@Hubwood i reinstalled windows like 10 times XD btw its pointless thank you so much for trying!
with either of these cards you will achieve 60 fps IF you drop to 900p,now don't be fooled by 900p,its a good solid resolution with a minimal trade off for such a big fps boost.if your gaming on a laptop 15 even 17" screen 900p wont look that different anyway,if you want higher resolution like 4k and high fps then you really shouldn't be gaming on a laptop to start with.i would say to anyone with a note book that has a 1050 4gb or even 2gb I would go with the 900p option,as new games release you will end up dropping the resolution anyway unless you want to spend 1200 bucks on a notebook with gtx 1060 in it and ill say fuck that because you can build your own desktop with a 1070 for that price.
BTW anyone doing a comparison vid please stop using witcher 3 ffs!! its not like its crisis all you got to do with that game to get high fps is turn off hair works everyone knows this so please stop using witcher 3.
1. True, 900p can be a good compromise!
2. I do love using The Witcher 3 because A) It's super popular and B) I love benchmarking systems with it. because C) I do love every computer that manages to run this game ;)
But true, it's not Crysis as it's much better optimized and will run with more than 200 FPS in a few years despite Crysis even 11 years later ;)
true I wont argue there crisis was broken but it was also demanding back in the day even now a 1070 will drop this game below 60fps. but everyone benchmarks that damn game Witcher 3 there's more demanding titles out there but here's me thinking everyone is a game slag like myself because I stupidly buy games on steam sale for the sake of it then forget I did LOL.anyway meant no disrespect but every gtx1050 benchmark has witcher bloody 3 in it just saying.
Gtx 1060 is much better than 1050ti.twice as fast.laptop woth gtx 1060 inside are that costly 1100$ and get twice the fps
i always go to 720p with a laptop is faster and less noisy, i dont care that much about details so its a good trade for me speed over quality

I don't know which one you mean and which country. I'm also not aware of the prices around the world. And both laptops can only be bought in used condition right now...
@@Hubwood Pakistan price 1050
So which one is better ? Gtx 1050 ?
Hasyim Muzadi yes. 30-60% faster
hes over exaggerating its more like 25-50% faster ,but yeh.
It is literally 25% faster, according to Nvidia and reviews.
yes it is... GTX 1050 will run all games 25%-50% faster. There is one other way to test how good a GTX 1050 is vs a GTX 960M. Ok so buy the game Nier Automata or crack it whatever you prefer play it on 1920X1080p on low settings on a 960M and see if it runs with at least 30fps... And 30fps is what is considered in all games to be playable. If it cant then that means it is a much weaker GPU then a GTX 1050. Because a GTX 1050 OC can run Nier Automata on 1920X1080 on low settings with 35fps average.
@@tzvetantzvetanov5598 its literally 67% faster. gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-960M-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1050/m27242vs3650
I have a GeForce Gtx 960M and I play gmod with 40 fps max ... Sad
Its only 5-10 fps
I have lenovo y50 gtx 960m and benchmark assassins creed origin with same settings ana when oc my 960m i got 4 fps difference only
?
It's 30 fps higher on gtx 1050 you are wrong. Totally wrong. Benchmarks across the board prove this. You have a poor gpu. Sorry.
seems like the 1050 is not worth the extra money
Yea just 10-15 fps more
yeah, core i3 3240 + gtx 760ti winner...
What?
The only people that actually need ULTRA settings are those who are RUINING the gaming industry. GAMEPLAY is more important than graphics that look so real you never have to go outside and smell some roses. Im good with MEDIUM settings and there is not much of a difference with HIGH unless you have time to stare at walls and the GROUND ;)
So.... Because you don't care about the graphics of a game people who use ultra settings are ruining the entire gaming industry? Understandable, have a nice day.
Medium, high and ultra look different as fuck maybe your weak 1050 doesn't let you see the difference??
Underclocking i5 Cpu does not make the match fair which is the main reason of Fps difference.
Dude no. Underclocking the cpu on the 1050 laptop makes sure both laptops have the same cpu power.
The 1050 is just alot faster as the 960m. You can also see that comparing the pure 3dmark graphics score BTW. Which doesn't give a shit on the cpu ;)
And it's not an i7. It's an i5.
Hubwood Yep. Corrected that.
what if 2 chanel
Few % faster
The 960 is cooler than 1050
Why is my vx15 have 2.8ghz cpu
I downclocked the VX 15 to match The Lenovo y700.
Or wasnt that your question?
@@Hubwood oh. I'm sorry, I mean my vx 15 only has 2.5ghz while yours is 2.8ghz
That's weird. Are you sure? How do you meassure it?
@@Hubwood It's in my spec
Ι have an asus gl753vd. It's a little faster than these
People saying the 1050 is better yeah no look at the CPU temp differences I’d take that over performance any day
That has absolutely nothing to do with the GPU. That was a totally different laptop and after repasting the laptop with the gtx 1050 it became 15 degrees cooler.
@@Hubwood yeah ok id advise re-pasting both next time and then do comparisons so its accurate and at no point in the video did you state the whole re pasting situation so don't use it in your argument and apologises for the brain-dead comment that made no sense :)
@@in5anity-vii760
Look.
1.The Laptop with the GTX 1050 was repastet 2 month after this video. How should i have mentioned that in the video?
2. Again: The CPU Temperature has nothing to do with the GTX 1050. That is an issue connected to the Laptops cooling system. Sure, a cool Laptop is nice to have. But there are plenty of laptops with a 960m that run hot, and plenty with a 1050 that stay cool.
@@Hubwood i get it was 2 months after but you were saying like id missed something in the video listen im not going to argue with you sorry for the stupid comment that made no sense sorry and lets just leave it here
@TheXboxRecruit I wasn't implying that you missed something :)
So we're all good here :)

Don't buy a laptop with a 960m... it's awfull... Believe me. I have one. Even with 16gb ram and an i7 6700 HQ it's terrible... buy a desktop instead. Or on laptop with a 1060. But remember, the pc will get too hot and in summer you can cook an egg on it. Go for the desktop
what'is your laptop? (Asus? MSI ? Acer? Lenovo? )
It depends on what you're expecting and what your budget is.
@@stephaneg9757 MSI... You can acquire decent laptops now. Because they don't come with a converted gpu for the laptop as before (the 960m and others). Now they come with decent gpu's
@@Hubwood yeah... for sure it helped me a lot having a good laptop always with me. I was in erasmus and if it wasn't the pc I wouldn't be able to do much things and still play... but in terms of performance, a desktop is always going to be better...
@@davidcoelho9891 Of course a desktop is better. No one denies that.
And the GPUs are still kind of "converted".
The Laptop version of the 1050 is slower than the desktop version.
It will always be like that as long as the power draw/wattage is just not possible for desktops in that price range.
A 1050 for Laptops uses around 40-50 Watt
A 1050 for Desktops uses 75 Watt.
A 1080 for Laptops uses 150 Watt
A 1080 for Desktops uses 180 Watt
Thats why they are still slower.

almost the same both crap! I dont recommend these
