She had a scene where she came on stage with a glove puppet of a dragon and she was saying to the children that she need to kill it and asked them how she should do it. Of course, the kids were saying stuff like 'shoot it Cilla' and 'slit its throat Cilla', but one lad in the front row jumped out of his seat and shouted: Sing to to it Cilla! It was just at the point when the bloke had to make an entrance and bring her a prop. He said that he literally, entered stage left, exited stage right and was bent double with laughter, in the wings. He also told me that he had jokingly told her that he would nip round for coffee, the next time he was in the town where she lived, to which she replied that she would have him arrested. Anyway, turns out the couple used to do security for films and tv locations before they retired and had worked with many celebrities. So as the drink flowed and we were chatting. I asked her “who was the worst ‘star’ you ever worked with?” Her answer, at the time, surprised me, but alas, not now........It was...........a certain Gary Lineker, who had just got with his new girlfriend at the time. Like the Beatles and through circumstances they had no option than to go to London, that was a given, but, in all honesty, (and i liked Cilla) she really should of kept her political views to herself, specially at a time when Liverpool was on its knees, due to a Thatcher Government. She done herself no favour's and i think she knew that, later in life. 'Maggies put the 'great' back in Britain,' when her 'hometown' was on its knees wasnt the best of things to say at the time. But R.I.P Cilla.
