Not me. It’s actually 4753 on my planet
George: Lead vocals, guitars
John: Subject of the song
Paul (and Linda): Backing vocals
Ringo: Drums
Aside from the Anthology singles, this is the closest we ever got to a Threetles reunion.
"I'm The Greatest" is Ringo, John & George.✌
also Denny Laine on backing vocals and George Martin's involved with this too
They became a great wedding band too. P, G & R played at Eric Clapton and George's ex's wedding in '78 and again at Ringo's wedding in '81.
@@worlds1ep3enthusiast92 They could've done better than this short diddy They must have wanted some "candy" money.
Also Denny Laine from Wings was there with Paul and Linda too.
George’s son was attending Brown University in Providence Rhode Island. On my way to work I stopped to get a coffee in a small shop there. As I walked in I saw George sitting in a booth with another person. I wanted to go over and thank him for the great music and memories. I restrained myself to respect his privacy but on my way out our eyes locked George smiled and nodded to me. It’s a cherished memory that I will never forget. George Harrison was a beautiful spirit and a great musician. It’s sad that he suffered so much being attacked by a madman while recovering from cancer. Love you John and George RIP!
I just turned 50 in 2023. It amazes me how much I took for granted when it comes to music I heard so long ago. The Beatles will always be a cornerstone for my tastes without any outside influence other than the member's solo 1970's and '80's) output.
You’re the luckiest person in the whole world 😭😭😭
One of the best stories I ever heard about this Man. It makes me tears - " ... smile and nodded to me ..." - thank You Richard.

George, Paul, And Ringo play on this track, also overseen by George Martin, and harmonies by Linda McCartney and Denny Laine
Basically, the rest of the beatles did this for John.
Sounds really Fab! 🎸
Nice rutles Reference to tragical history tour
I never knew :(
Paul doesn't play on it, he only sings harmony, and Ringo's playing wasn't overseen by George Martin (it's a leftover from when the song was originally recorded as a Ringo song).
Happy birthday George! Born all those years ago 25/02/1943. Still listening 25/02/2024 🎉🎉🎉

For sure Brandon.....I was just 7 years old when the Kennedy assassination took place & the nation was devastated & in mourning...then like a breath of fresh air....John, Paul, George & Ringo for the moment replaced the despair of our grieving nation with new found hope introducing their music & humor to the world..,..from that dark moment on.....and so I will always be eternally grateful to the Lads from Liverpool!!
I do also when I hear that beautiful voice. I have to believe that he is no longer in pain; that he and John are really jamming or having some laughs.
I didn't understand this tribute to John Lennon when it first came out. But now I realize George Harrison was a deeply spiritual musician who could see the best in people. He's thanking John for putting the Beatles together (and for just being John). I appreciate everyone's great comments.
The lyrics seemed quite simple when this song first came out, but have certainly deepened since then. People couldn’t google lyrics back then either.
Well put!

When this came out I was too young to understand what it would feel like to reminisce back to all those years ago. Now I do jerroldcohen3988. You’re so right

George Harrison was probably the most compassionate considerate kind and thoughtful musician to have ever walked on earth. I do not know of a more beautiful more touching tribute to a friend than this.
Hello Dear, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the Virus??
except George originally wrote it as a harsh critique of John before he died; after John's death, George rewrote the lyrics...These guys were just human beings, not meant to be put up on a pedestal, especially when we don't even know them....
not true, it was originally written for Ringo to sing (with completely different lyrics) but Ringo rejected it because he didn't want to sing that high
He was the only ethnic Englishman in the Beatles. Lennon, McCartney and Starr were all descendants of Irish who migrated to Liverpool during the Irish Potato Famine of the 1840s.
@@jamesduclos2545 His mother was Irish.
We love George Harrison, the most spiritual, quiet, calm, and kind Beatle.

Where did you read that about George? 😂! George was a fighter and a womaniser and always kind of angry towards the Beatles and loved his drugs, George was a wild man.
Don Master Yeah that's true, but my comment describes his positive sides.
I can’t believe this song is 40 years old
So actual
It's timeless . . . . . .

I was 8 years old when I first heard this song.
True, but the fact that it's, 'All Those Years Ago', and given it's subject matter, it is timeless.

Guess we all miss the Beatles Now and Then. Hearing John's voice crystal clear on the new single has rejuvenated a Beatles phase. The "oooh" at the end of the song is epic.
RIP George Harrison & John Lennon. Your music changed the world in so many ways.
True!!!
Love them both ❤❤❤
I'm shouting all about love
While they treated you like a dog
When you were the one who had made it so clear
All those years ago
I'm talking all about how to give
They don't act with much honesty
But you point the way to the truth when you say
All you need is love
Living with good and bad
I always looked up to you
Now we're left cold and sad
By someone the devil's best friend
Someone who offended all
We're living in a bad dream
They've forgotten all about mankind
And you were the one they backed up to the wall
All those years ago
You were the one who imagined it all
All those years ago
All those years ago
All those years ago
Deep in the darkest night
I send out a prayer to you
Now in the world of light
Where the spirit free of lies
And all else that we despised
They've forgotten all about God
He's the only reason we exist
Yet you were the one that they said was so weird
All those years ago
You said it all though not many had ears
All those years ago
You had control of our smiles and our tears
All those years ago
All those years ago
All those years ago
All those years ago

George didn’t want this song to be a sad one, but listening to it with this video made me teary. No matter the later squabbles no one could ever break the bond. RIP John and George ❤
At last. It has never been posted officially. Emotional song for John with a little help from his beat-friends!!!!
They said that George was indifferent to John's death after that radio interview. George was just spiritual and this song shows how he looked up to John.
I agree.
George and John
we're pals 4E.
'Indifferent'!? His murder freaked George's shit out the most. He got paranoid and fortified his estate, and hardly left it, at first. And, who can blame him, esp in light of what he and Olivia were to endure, in the not too distant future.
Also George had a very different outlook spiritually on the afterlife. He believed that we still exist, just in a different plain (Astro). This is what George said in reference to Roy Orbison’s passing during The Traveling Wilbury days.
He looked up to and loved john WAY more than he did Paul..... Played with John many x...
@@asphaltcowboy7567 He was a couple of years younger which as teenagers (I think he was still 16 or 17 when he joined Quarrymen) is a big age difference.

It's musical tribute to an older brother! Sure, you didn't always see eye to eye...and there's some hurt there but you still very much loved him!
Nah, my favorite Lennon tribute, like MOST people, is 'Brenda Got a Baby' by Tupac .... especially with lines like-
"Now Brenda's belly's gettin' bigger
But no one seems to notice any change in her figure
She's 12 years old and she's having a baby
In love with the molester, who's sexin' her crazy"
