Hey guys I made a video about Ginault Controversy. You should probably watch it: czcams.com/video/iovsra3CRyw/video.html
This comparison is not made to convince you to buy or to promote either one of the watches. Do your own research! I had access to both watches and a lot of people requested this comparison that it. Enjoy your day:)

hi Oleg. I watched this again because I just got Ginault ORII with SW200-1 movement with Ceramic bezel.
it is absolutely WOW piece. they have tighten up the bracelet links and the "feel" and "movement" of Glide lock also have improved compared to OR I version. The Ceramic bezel and AR coated crystal are just out of the world. Oleg, if you have time, please review ORII. All the controversies aside, I believe that ORII is the best quality & valued watch among all the micro brands. Thanks Oleg and have a great day.

I own an Ocean Rover and a Rolex Submariner “bluesy”. I really enjoy wearing the Ocean Rover. Very comfortable at all times with the glide-lock. Excellent quality and it performs within COSC. I have read and followed all of the controversy, but there is no denying the quality when you hold it in your hand and have lived with it.

I have been tempted as well by the OR, don't care about "controversy", as if you strip away all the BS around Rolex it may be the same, who knows. I have a couple of mechanical (one manual, one automatic) Russian watched that keep much better time than my Rolex GMT II, so who knows what value actually is. Watches should be enjoyed. Can an OR be serviced by any watchmaker?

    • @alangolick8854
      @alangolick8854 Před 4 lety +1

Alastair Murray That is a question I cannot answer. The new OR IIs have Swiss S200 movements. I wonder if that will quell all the noise...probably not.
As for the original “in house” Caliber 7275, it is an ETA 2824 clone and my guess is that a good watchmaker can service it. If you are seriously contemplating, I would talk to John at Ginault. Cheers.

The movement in the Ginault is NOT an in house movement.
Ginault watches are NOT hand built in America.
There are many videos on youtube that have exposed the Ginault watch brand and it's founder.
The founder of Ginault ( Tsun Chi ) is a well known Rolex Counterfeiter and money launderer.
A much better alternative would be the MILUS Snow Star.
The Snow Star is made in Switzerland, using 904 L steel
and uses a TOP grade ETA 2892-a2 adjusted to 5 positions.
You can pick one up on sale for around $1,275.00
Three other great watch brands to consider : BRELLUM ( Switzerland )
    YEMA ( France )
JS watch company ( Iceland )

Honestly a comparison between a newby and a traditional brand would be interesting since it is hard to position Ginault not only because of the controversial history but also because of the strange price positioning. And if microbrands only copy what is already there, why does these brands exists? It can not be the price and also not the technology. Seems that some people just want to take a portion of the cake which is legit but not for people who understand about the product - the watch. Most of the fresh ideas and innovations are still happening at traditional manufacturers.

Correction: The Ginault is a watch using inspiration from discontinued refernces only. In this sense its not really a hommage to a given or particular refernce. It now has a Selita or ETA movement. personally I prefer the Ginault. I do hope all the controversy continues on and on with regard to the Ginault, it will be worth a fortune in the future. Also, who knows where watches a really made or from where the parts come from? Really. The watch market is so corrupt and secretive and lastly ,all watches are homages from all other watches. The Ginault is a grreat watch ...period. the Monta is also good but not not that good looking IMHO and is again another watch shadowing the submariner. I own a sub, its ok , nicely made but to be honest I have it for its intrinsic value only. I have long soince stopped wearing it everyday. Who wants to get mugged in the big city. Its common in London.

I would not pay out over $1000 for anything besides another Rolex. Just my 2 cents.

I agree comparing the Monta and Oris will be great. I hope you still do that.
Of these two, hands down the Monta wins. They have a higher level of quality, unique design, great company and great customer service. Their attention to detail and finish is superior. Ginnault on the other hand is a mere "homeage" replica, albeit decent quality. That's it.
