I admire Jeremy Lin more than any other athlete. He has proven himself time and time again, yet he doesn't get the respect he deserves. It really bothers me how poorly he's been treated all the way since graduating from high school. He never gives up, though, and never loses his faith. He's a remarkable human being.
Well said. I feel the same way.
Because they said asians are never a victim of racism.
@@YBlnx thegb.
I'm glad he doesn't play for my Rockets anymore, he sucked! You couldn't even sit him on the bench, without his Asian groupies crying racism... 🙄 #BYYYYYYEE ✌️
@@maihuynh2413 Crying racism because your favorite player (only because he's Asian) has been sat on the bench, is not racism.
Jeremy Lin is a warning. Sometimes you can have all the talent in the world, a great work ethic, and the right attitude and still, no one will give you a chance.
Sometimes the world rejects genuineness, because it reminds them of what they will never be.
NBA is racist
He got a chance to play. Just wasn’t that good anymore. They figured him out.
@Scorpion X Thats messed up, but unfortunately true. There are too many bias's and "ism's" in this country.
There are homeless people with more intelligence and common sense than many of the wealthy people who claim to run this country, but This Is America.
@Marcus Wright Dumb ass comment. He doesn't have a job because he isn't that good anymore. It happens.
He was pretty good, then he got injured, then he got a ring by being at the right place at the right time. Now he's doing great things with his life outside of the NBA. The man is a legend in his own right.
Yes but I would definitely still enjoy watching him play. He & I’m sure still awesome
I watched him way back when he was at Harvard when the YES Network would show Ivy League basketball games regularly. You can just tell when you're watching a superstar. He did everything offensively for them outside of posting up on the block.
Hes still playing in Taiwan. Look it up
Even dwight Howard is there
The only player who decided to waive off the late Kobe, make the shot and explain to him why it is the right decision. Thats greatness man.
He is a noble man, too good for NBA. It is NBA’s loss. They don’t deserve him.
It's NBA's lost.
Wow, are you still in grade school.
Lmao, there's so many talents out there, jeremy lin is like a waste. Nothing important.
@@SuckMeBoneDry It is NBA’s loss. My family and friends don’t watch NBA anymore because Lin left.
I agree. I think he loves basketball, but I think that he's meant to do something else and his fixation and his pride is keeping him from realizing it. We can be so ambitious sometimes about a goal that we don't see that the path we're taking is taking us in the wrong direction.
@@sz4159 that's cool most Asian people don't even play or watch basketball and ya idk what the NBA would do without jermery lin
Jeremy Lin was honestly someone I wanted to see when I started to watch NBA games religiously during the 18-19 season. I'm happy he got a ring. But it sucks to hear how underappreciated he is.
Maybe God gave him that ring lol
Lin is too good for corrupted NBA.
@@kmy9738 I think so tbh, even if he isn’t a regular in the nba he has a nba championship ring whuch is so much more than any players can ever say. Literally better than cp3 by ring debate and Barkley. Shame
@@thesnipingspider3852 lmao, goes to show how the ring debate doesn’t determine who is a better basketball player!
The NBA is a marketing machine, a business to make money, and I think they didn't see enough money in him frankly with the NBA following sadly.
Great player who definitely experienced racism and discrimination during his basketball journey he deserves to be in the league despite his injuries. Bless him always he is a great man.
Black folks has the nerve to claim racism these days but they are the most racist modern age period
Exactly, Black and White want to dominate the sports and throw 1 or 2 Asian in just to make it looks good.
The only racism he dealt with in the NBA was when a player called him coronavirus
@@davec9740 lol.
It's not about "deserving", it's about how good you are. Lin had a great sequence of games, he had his chance in multiple teams but the truth is - he wasn't that good anymore. After Knicks it all went down hill. I don't see how getting traded can ruin your career.
I admire his spirit!!! He never gives up because he's holding on to his faith and that's the most important thing in life! NBA may never gave him what he deserves but God never forsake him and will reward him one day❤️

As fan of the Knicks I could never understand why he was let go! He produced points and gave his all to the game. He had a great following in my old home town of New York
Because of Carmelo
@Jinx FACTS, Carmelo saw the attention that was bein taken away from him & goin towards Lin. A damn shame....
cause we werent gonna offer him what houston did, think it was 26 mill and tbh it was smart because he wasnt that good in houston
They didn't let him go. They had a contract for him but he went to Houston to negotiate a larger contract... He then ran back to NY EXPECTING them to match it, but they never did because he went about it like a snake.
@@Ryder....what an idiot, rather lose and be the center of attention
Jeremy Lin is my favorite player. Just watch him play. Listen to his interviews. Smart, humble, and he knows how to lead the team on the court. Linsanity was a showcase and no organization gave him a chance or the support he deserved. Class Act.
Don’t give up Jeremy!!! There has never been the likes of you in the NBA, you bring it and you are a humble total human, rare in pro sports
Very well said my man!!!
Excellent piece. Well researched and presented. I've got mad respect for Jeremy Lin. Class act. Man of genuine Christian faith. The NBA slept on him big time. A real shame...

I rarely would get on the "it's racist" bandwagon, but in the case of Jeremy Lin, I cannot deny that his struggle had everything to do with race! He was worth looking at by ALL of the NBA, possibly even out of high school!
It smacks of racism to me.
Yeah me too
Straight up facts. Carmelo didn’t help either. Jealous of his rise to stardom.
The real issue was the racism he faced from fellow players including Kobe
yes, only i'm not your type, would be discriminated!!! that's what is happening in USA.
In China, we respects every race if you recognized our value, obey our law!
J Lin as i know, he is a sincere christian. he's from taiwan. Now, he's very respected man in China and in Chinese society.
what made me being here, WTF, i thought he's unemployed and needed subsidized
Lin has a championship ring. I don't see anything but success when watching this video. I watched him play and he had skills and natural talent, speed high bball IQ. He lasted a lot longer in the league than a lot of people including some 1st round draft picks
He was only given enough time in the court only when he was in Knick as Linsanity for 3 weeks. After that, he was never given enough time in the court to play in NBA. Somehow it feels he was not given the same equity as other good players.
Just call a spade a spade. RACISM! It's too obvious except that even some color people who likes to call out racism against them also did the racism against Jeremy themselves. What a great discusting shame.
It's a black thing and wonder why they want affirmative action for themselves but no one else .
@vaga bonder Almost all the plays were for Harden, even if Jeremy started.

The Lin Story was inspiring and sad at the same time. I remember when he sparked the ailing NYKnicks. That was the good ol days of Linsanity. NBA referees weren’t giving him a break with numerous no foul calls despite being bludgeoned by every players.
It's the NBA's lost. regardless where Jeremy Lin plays, he's still a shining star ✨
Despite a lack of support from the NBA, there is no doubt he is an inspiration to many kids out there. A good role model to look up to.
I've always enjoyed watching him play. I never look at the color of a player, I let them show me on the court what they're made of. We are Human!

I suppose he was told to "Go back to China!" And Lin is of Taiwanese ancestry during a time China and Taiwan are not getting along, Lin is playing for China.
I do remember Jeremy Lin. I hope he finds another career passion in his life.

This is certainly a tale of perseverance and earned respect. I'm definitely a fan, and this story hits home for me because my son is half Chinese and he is showing some promise as a young athlete. He's only 5 years old and I'd like to show him the story of Jeremy Lin when he becomes mature enough to understand it.
He was a good player. He surprised me when seeing him play for the first time. He Should have more opportunity in the NBA.
NBA missed out bigtime on this guy. Awesome player.

I feel so bad for him but God knows what’s best for Jeremy. I’m sure his best success doesn’t have to be in NBA alone. He’s very talented. God bless him.
Lin was one of the coolest stories in nba history
Thank you for sharing the story. Shame on NBA for the bias. I saw him play once. Would like to see him shine again soon.

We love Jeremy 😍! He's one of the best NBA players we've ever known. He's also the humblest, the most kind-hearted, and the most talented athlete there ever is in our opinion. It's really a shame that he is not valued as much as he should have and that he experienced racial bias. Sports in America nowadays are way too political and double- standard. That's why we no longer follow NBA games. We wish Jeremy all the best for happiness and success for his future endeavors. 🙏

This was nice to find on youtube. I followed him and I did because he was so good. Mentally strong and committed to his faith and a great player - high basketball IQ! I want him to be okay in the end and not eaten up by the NBA’s callousness which we all know can exist.
He is an incredible overachiever and an inspiration. Its amazing what he accomplished against all odds.
Being a 4th gen Asian American, I know the sting of racial slurs growing up. I give props to Jeremy for getting to where he got to having to face that giant, especially during his days playing for Harvard. If you read up on it, it’s pretty heart breaking what he had to put up with just to play a game he loved. And like biblical heroes of faith like Joseph, David and Daniel who were tested in their younger years, I believe the Lord has bigger plans for Jeremy in the future even if it’s not playing basketball. Looking forward to seeing what that mission is!
Discrimination at its finest

He made it to the NBA, he had some good stretches, he made quite a bit of money. He is being $3mil to play in China this year. He's done alright. He achieved more than anyone could have expected.
It doesn't mean his achievements couldn't had been much more if he was given opportunities denied to him because of his ethnicity. Life isn't just about money. I'd 100% bet Lin would rather play in the NBA and make $1m a year than play in some big foreign leagues and make $3m a year.

Jeremy Lin was a great player and could’ve had a great long career. His averages were great and all these teams overlooked him. If you’re trying to figure out why your team sucks coach remember the guy you passed up🤦🏾♂️
There were a lot of players with talent who played in the NBA who were mistreated and are no longer in the NBA. Players like Isaiah Thomas, Delonte West and Jeremy Lin all had NBA careers that could've probably been longer.
I will always have a deep respect for this great basketball legend and a man of faith, Jeremy Lin.. NBA may have turned its back on him but God honors those who honor Him.
I hope Jeremy has been able to stash a ton of cash. Side note: During the height of Linsanity, I was teaching English to high school students in China. Whenever one of my morning classes would line up timewise with a Knicks game in the U.S., I'd project a real-time Yahoo Sports game play-by-play onto a big screen in the front of the room so the kids could keep up. Those classes were very popular!
Lin was the consensus High School Player of the Year in my state (California) his senior year and what does he get for his reward? His No. 1 college of choice outright DENYING him a basketball scholarship just because of his Asian background (Stanford), having to enroll at Harvard as a mere walk-on, EVERY NBA team passing him up in both rounds of the 2010 Draft after he basically put his Harvard team on the NCAA map for good during his tenure there, Knicks management pretty much cutting him loose after he literally willed a lottery-bound Knicks team into the playoffs (LINSANITY!!!), Rockets immediately dismissing him after getting another ball-dominant guard in James Harden when they already handed Lin a lucrative contract to lead their team, and the Lakers crucifying him due to coach Byron Scott being instructed by ownership to "protect" Kobe Bryant's legacy after what should've been a career-ending Achilles injury that was sustained two seasons prior. It was nothing short of divine intervention that Lin finally got to taste a well-earned championship with the 2019 Raptors because the way he was treated up until that moment ended up putting a permanent stain on the NBA and pro sports in general.
Great documentary. Thank you! Prayers for JL
(My sons initials also. An Asian basketball player)
Great player who I always rooted for no matter where he was. Unfortunately the social struggles he had to deal with seemed to never go away and injuries played a role as well. Too bad it didn’t work out differently for him
The video mentioned it, and so has everyone in here...but was a single example ever presented of his asianness keeping him from NBA employment?
No, and to be honest, I doubt there is any evidence beyond this conjecture. More than anything, he became a victim of his own success. You put up Jordan-like numbers for 3 weeks in New York and people are gonna come to expect that. Unfair, as nobody should ever expect Jordan from anybody but Jordan.
Nonetheless, it wasn’t crazy that those signing the checks were suspicious of potential longevity. I believe Houston paid him fairly well, probably losing on the investment...
Because at the end of the day, it’s about health. And it ain’t because NBA don’t like chinamen. Each time he seemed about to cross the threshold into permanent presence, he’d get hurt. It’s how his amazing early run ended, after all. It’s not like it’s his fault or that I’m dogging him for it. But the ability that earns the most $$$ in sports is durability. Look at LeDbag. He walks at a seniors’ pace for a third of the game, but it ain’t ‘cause he’s slow...give him the ball and he’s right back to high-speed freight train. He’s not lazy the rest of the time, he’s preserving himself for longevity.
Lin played very fast, and very hard. Guys that play hard all the time get hurt. Happens to sooooo many athletes, from all sports. We just never hear about them, because they don’t have “Linsanity”-type results under their belts yet...Oh, Linsanity, which was indeed one of the most fun times ever I spent, a poor, decrepit, wretchedly pathetic Knicks fan. I’ll always be grateful I got to see most of it (missed the first two games but caught the rest once I heard about it!).

I'm like No way Lin turned into a Delonte West.
Lin got the last laugh with $36 million NET...no pun intended!
@@samuelakilakalua3134 is jeremy lin not doing ok
Click bait!!!!
Hold your head up high Jeremy Lin. You proven yourself enough.
Smart and steady, a great inspiration to those that play the game as a team player not a superstar. Team players make everyone play better to win not to grandstand! Basketball is a team sport not a individual sport. Funny how so many forget that and wonder why they lost!
I agree with him, they overlooked him because of his race and he was a hell of a basketball player
There’s nothing tragic about Jeremy Lin with regard to basketball. The dude got to play in the NBA for multiple seasons, made a lot of money, and is an all around smart guy (econ degree from Harvard). 99.9 percent of human beings will never come close to his accomplishments…
You're missing the point. The fact that he accomplish this is one thing and were it to be a different person of the preferred type they would've had a signed multi-year contract. He couldn't get this despite all his achievements because of him being Asian.
@@JohnJuan2129 That’s fair. I can agree with that.
Yeah,... I kind of feel the sane way.
Graduated from Harvard.
Made the league.
Out-dueled Kobe with the Knicks.
Became a thing.
Won a ring.
Shut K-Mart up with his reply to Martin's Twitter remarks on cultural appropriation.
Still in good health and mental state.
Shiiid,...
Jeremy won.
@@JohnJuan2129 Preferred type. You mean black ?
You have complete scrubs warming those benches. Yet JLin can't even get that? Straight up, the NBA is just racist. Full stop.
This was a great story, he has everything a team could want and more! Much respect to him.
Keep your hair up you seem like a humble guy and you got game keep Pushing because you deserve to be in the NBA like anybody else no matter what color you are or your background
I haven't followed JLin's every move to death over the years, because I don't follow basketball/NBA, but I've followed Andrew Yang to death, day in & day out, during his presidential and NYC mayoral runs in 2020-22 or so. And he suffered from so much racism, discrimination, stereotyping, hatred, degrading, severely under-appreciating so much, it was unbelievable. I already knew that from my daily life as an Asian. Everything I suffer through, they do too, though they're famous for Asian Americans, and on a much higher level. Asians tend to think of all groups as good and right, and elevate all groups, while only getting the most horrific treatment in return, the lowest of all groups. Where's the fairness in that? I have a very Yang/Lin personality, very kind, giving, nonjudgmental, loving, generous-minded, and open-hearted, just to get the most terrible, unbelievable treatment back from people, my whole life.
I wish this young man all the success in the world. I pray the rest of his life is successful, with no more setbacks.
I believe he was always short change and overlooked by the NBA. It was sad to see how he was treated. He should be given a chance to come back and treated fairly. The Knicks should pick him up as a six man and end his career with them.
The only time I felt any excitement for the Knicks was during it's "Linsanity" period. That is a team that has disappointed me for decades.
He's too good for NBA. Proud for Lin.
I will never forget Jeremy Lin, mainly because he was in Ryan Higa videos
The story illustrating how racism is alive and well … still…
racism is worldwide in every culture
Well said Fawzia.
Shut up Jackie Chan
What about Yao Ming? Racism is mild in US, especially for Asians.. As an Asian who is also a minority in my own country, there are many ways to fight it in US. Lin & his parents probably dont know how to deal w it well enough, I would not hv played for Harvard, nor send my tape to Ivy league univ..
I hate rhis rotten descrimitory country and this whole world fun by Satan. Jermies whole experience of abusive treatment, constant rejection, and blatant closed door by the whole feaking sick NBA was simply because of his open, unabashed love for His LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST! This sick world is about to be invaded by our ORD
i hope he comes back to the nets. i dont blame him for playing in Beijing. he will dominate in China. good luck to him. he never got the respect he deserved.
Even the chinese nets owner is an idiot for letting him go. Chinese people are most divided!!!!!
@@SuperJay12jay i as one non chinese person really really admire and respect China. my hero is...Mao btw. no apologies.
Lin is awesome player, but his greatest skill of all was he brought the best out of his team mates to play their best which led to wins. Knicks management lacks vision, and that is why they are loosing team.
I have been wondering about him. I would love to see him playing again. 😭
