Owl clan Build order | Northgard

  • Hello and welcome everyone!
    To another Northgard build order.
    This with an OP Owl clan build order, which is
    probably not gonna make it to ranked, but it
    pretty fun to play nonetheless and should be a fun
    one to try out in the next weeks.

    I like this new clan. They are trying harder to make new play styles that feel different from all the other clans.

    Great strategy dentist! Seems really overpowered :)) i was trying relic rush but this is way better for 802 :) thx

    great tips, here are my observations after playing bit more:
    1) food - huge drop during winter means you need to stockpile lots of food during spring+summer+autumn, and I haven't yet understood if silo on fish/deer tile makes any sense (because later with relic you can build silos on every territory if you wish, not boosting any production though), definitely not underestimate silos, root for silo bonus, and balance between feasts and territory captures, prioritize at least 1 silo over farm first,
    2) prioritize smith Norn upgrades first - it's worth it, any worth scouting and improving relations with Jotunn and Dwarf over generating lore, and scouting locations with lots of iron/stone to mine with a root (dwarves, mykalfar, kobold mines etc...)
    3) prioritize Harbors over Markets - because lore > coin for owl
    4) get 1st warchief + bodyguard + healing root on main tile (after norn upgrade) to save resources on healers and army early on
    5) rush scouting enemy main tiles for placing any root on enemy territory (resources, attack and stolen lore..) - beware you CANNOT destroy it (until decolonizing territory with root), so plan carefully and prioritize friends tiles initially (to destroy later), also carefully place mine roots on territories you might loose - that's the most micro from owl so far
    6) prioritize scouting (and relations) over lore, and prioritize capturing lore territories over using norns on neutral lores
    7) rush roots that picks bonus on any territories, and search for forrests (+6 lore) or geyser (+5 happiness) but later with owl's relic find territories with +6 lore and +2 happiness preferably
    8) no need to rush lore unless territories cleared to place roots (non-specialized vills gathering food are fine enough to avoid rushing farms)
    9) inability to compete in Bonfire or efficient Kobold trade due to lack of wood source is big nerf

      for first in my games I go always for secnd sister huge bonus for gold and food and its why I always have food+ even in winter with 1 food tile from fertile soils
      1) even at winter u wont have any problems with food with second sister
      2) smithing norns is useless bcs u use them only at the beginning of the game for lore and later to scout enemies in "mid game" they dont have any value and u need first iron for relic and warchief
      3) harbors correct boost for gold and lore
      4) healing root at main tile is the worst what u can suggest main tile is always for fertile soils and parasitic vegetables and healing root at main tile means that always u have ot come back to main tile for healing usually it will be too far
      5) rushing scout for enemy tiles makes ur eco much weaker and u dont have any "good" value for that u can always use root later
      6) lore is the most what u need in early bcs u are without relic and upgraded sailors
      7) its correct
      8) u can always rush lore for later if u want to get titan before any fights
      9) no one was doing that anyway xD

Same opinion on this beside the harbors, yea they boost ur lore but what dentist did here is way better for 802 fights, bc ur warchief bonus production + that 10% fertile land can boost all 6 merchants, not just 3 sailers, so the bonus is way bigger then the lore incoming from other 3 sailers :)
      Anywhay great clan cant w8 to see other strategies!

      @@afirarvm I always try to go for early altar and never had ony problem with gold 18+ units record 22 but it was late 802
      Warchief + bodyguard + (18+) units + titan and everything have ~+2 armor after nerfs

      @@xmorpheusx498 yes owl its a great eco clan with altar and or/and relic, especialy nowdays when rush is less viable, but when u need some action in 802 early either if its to defend or atack this is the build for it.
      Both viable its a fact of 802 or 803 games :)

    i'm having a bug, when a click in a branch it doesn't happen anything, I can't put it in the tile

    I tried getting 3 Norns off the bat but it puts my food -2 at the start. I was not lucky and found just one Lore Stone and it was beside my starting tile. There were no other circles or stones until I found the enemy territory :(

    have you experimented with early relic? seems like the ability to upgrade tiles for 50 lore and convert to forest tile would make lore AND eco boom hard from then on out

      not really, this build seems so overpowered that i didnt think the relic rush could hold a candle to it, but it might :P

      Relic is better for 802 late or 803 games for sure, but anywhay for early mid 802 this strat is to good :)

      I think it's a good thing, years back when Northgard started, I enjoyed it's eco/sim elements, with warfare being optional for most victory goals

      i think they wanted to target the 801 rushes and not really attack after 22minutes of gameplay tbh :P but yeah its broken eitherway

      you need to unlock the any 480 lore tree 1st, I'm not sure if you need it at 500 fame and normally you unlock 480 lore after 500 fame anyway
      edit: two of the 480 lore tree to get the guardian of the realms and it will be on the center of the lore tree
