- Today I'm baling more beautiful hay! I'm using my Farmall 656 and Gehl 1860 baler to make round bales. First cutting hay is finished!

Pete, after watching your videos for a year I think I finally understand why you love bailing hay so much; not only is it sort of meditative and calming, but each bale of hay that goes into the barn represents more feed for your livestock you don't have to purchase next winter. Thanks for sharing, congrats on the awesome yield on that field!
Hi Kieran, it is a great feeling to have hay in the barn. It represents security to me, just like a full woodshed or a full freezer.
Many people need a cup of coffee to put them in a proper mood in the morning. I have my best days when Pete posts a new video.🇨🇦👋👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Another great video. Yours is a true representation of how a farm works. No hidden agenda, no new tools or machines given to you every week, and making a living with what gets the job done.
How did the hay farmer get out of jail?
He made bale!
aawwwhhh
I see somebody else appreciates his jokes.
😂🤣
Thanks for the baler ride, that answered a few un-answered questions i was going to ask. nice vid!
In the baler shot, fantastic! Thanks. We’re a little itchy but what a ride!
Very relaxing video to watch---probably not so to make. Thanks for taking the time to keep us informed and entertained!
My granddaughter came to visit us and she was fascinated by your videos especially this one
Hi Pete, i like your hay count. i love your videos keep them up. 👍
woooohoooo!!!!! I got one. I was yelling "that you don't bury survivor's" as you were climbing back on the tractor. Grrrrrreat video's, love every single one.
I really enjoy your channel! You're a natural teacher, I love your jokes, you and your sweet wife make a great team.
Thank you for your educational narratives! You are easy to listen too! Thank you for being an inspiration to young FarmTubers like us! It’s hay season in Kansas too! “Soda pressing” 😂! Blessings!
As a kid I never thought I'd want to ride in the baler but here I am! I like watching the baler work from the inside! Those are some good shots from the drone of some beautiful pastures and baling hay. Thanks Pete!
Fabulous just fabulous ! I so look forward to your routine ! BLESSINGS !!!
Not all my memory's of baling hay are favorable. we did it with no kicker on the baler, dropped on ground we had to pick them up load the wagon by hand. then hand mow them away. can you say "Blow your nose, and spit black dust!" Then came along Kickers, and round bales. can you spell relief! I can!. but it was too late by then I left the farm. oh well I can enjoy it here! thanks for sharing Pete!. I love being an arm chair supervisor/viewer!
Can anyone tell me why this is so relaxing to watch ?
I'm watching this drinking my Ice Cold Peach Ice Tea and for some reason found this very enjoyable and relaxing to watch.
I think the combination of Pete's calm & gentle narrations and the quality of his editing is why the posts are so calming.
@@stevenandrews6627 Very True. I totally agree with you. Thanks Steven.
@@ArmpitStudios Yes, you have a good point. Makes sense.
Thank You.
Pete, apart from the fact that I love all your videos, I love your jokes! Please keep them coming!
Any one in the right mind will love his jokes, there hilarious!!!!
Another great video Pete! There’s something very relaxing about watching hay being cut, raked, and baled.
Coolest drone photage
Thank you, Pete.
Thumbs Up from The Dooley's Homestead from Michigan. Moving to our Farmstead today.
You got some awesome camera angles on this video Pete, I’m glad that camera didn’t wing up in the middle of a bale!
Pete ! We've missed you !
love those drone shots! What a beautiful layout of the land you've got there
You make the work in these videos seem like work is not really work. I've been watching for about a year now and I'm a big IH fan and i enjoy watching you use older IH equipment. I grew up doing a lot of the same things you are doing on my grandparent's farm. Keep up the good work.
You’re really getting the hang of round bailing Pete! Those bales are Tight and right! Very nice job
Hey ya, Pete. A topic for the upcoming Sunday show ..... the impact to family farms that the purposed capital gains at death tax might have. We have been talking it over here in Arkansas and are concerned of it's potential impact. Thank you for your channel, your time videoing and editing. We appreciate your time.
Hay Pete the cows will eat good this winter hope you have a bountiful yield not to mention the little squealers they will enjoy there new hay bombs
I don’t care what anyone says Pete’s dad jokes are the best to me
Pete, I'm 100% disabled, your videos allow me to escape for a few minutes. Is there anyway you could post a full, unedited video of a field. It would mean a lot.
Pete, this is the only channel that I give a thumbs up before watching! Thanks for such entertaining and informative videos and for letting us into your life!
Always enjoy Pete's videos! Thanks for posting!
Awesome footage inside chamber
Alway looking forward to a new video from you. I really enjoy the high drone shots and watching and listening to the older machinery you use. I grew up next door to a dairy farm back in the 60s and the farmer ran some of the same equipment. Accept for the round baler, he had a new holland square bailer like yours. Have a great day!
Nice--- WEll I got a couple of things to say nice to. First, the Beard! Growing it out? Looks great! Baler Camera View? Also Great!! You gotta love the smell of hay as well! Have a wonderful night Mr.P!
Hear about the farmer who expected 3 million bales, but was bad a math ? he got eighteen hahaha another great ride along, thanks Pete, legend!!
Another great video Pete, thank you for sharing your daily work on the farm.
Pete, I really enjoy your you-tube videos. You love your animals, the farm and embrace the work.
That camera shot from inside the baler was awesome….. LOL
Ok Pete is the heat and solitude getting better of you lol.Funny thing is I get it I love working by myself then I don’t have to keep an eye on anybody.
Ok you’ve shown how the baler works, any chance of seeing how you refill the binding string/net when it runs out?
Keep the vids coming - they break up dull days
Watching hay dry and be baled to break up a dull day?! Who am I kidding? I watch too!😄
Hi Peter. It's been interesting watching you run your farm. Best of luck for a great Summer season!! Be well.
Hay Bind did an incredible Job. That was some really thick hay .
@ken
Hello
How are you doing
Enjoyed that ride inside the bailer 🙃🇺🇸
About all I could think about is the smell of that hay being bailed. At the same time I think I still prefer the smell of fresh cut hay. The down wind side of a big hayfield smells the best.
I really enjoy your channel you're doing a great job for us virtual farmers
I enjoy hay getting baled. I just got a chance to see it live on my pasture. I got told by the person that did it that I was like a kid in a toy store, how I was so fascinated by the operation of each attachment. Mom always said I would like homesteading, she was a farm girl.
Happy Farmer, happy family = happy wife. Love to see your vlogs Pete. I wish you and your good family Gods Blessings. I was also wondering do you all keep a personal garden ??? If so, what do you grow and how is it doing??? You keep busy.
Hi Chauncey, for the first year in as long as I can remember, we don't have a garden. We used to keep a big garden before we had livestock, but there's just not enough time to care for it now.
Glad your hay crop is coming along good, I'm a bit envious. Due to the widespread drought, we are losing between 60-70 percent yeild on our hay this summer. ontop of that, one of our fields we lost 1/3 of its yield because a bearing failed and our friends Gehl round baler caught fire. We are praying for rain, hoping for a second crop. We usually get 3 cuttings a year, sadly, it may only be one this year unless we get some good rains in July.
I have 656 as well. Gas gear drive. I never thought how nice a hydro would be on a baler. Seems like a very nice unit along with now the loader. Great machine. You seem to know a great deal about the diesel engine as well. Idle time you said. Maybe some day in future you will share more on this machine.
Great video, thanks for sharing, stay safe.
Hey Pete. I really do enjoy your videos. We have a small 43 acre farm that we inherited off of an old family friend. We live in Rimersburg Pennsylvania about 4 hours away from you. Your videos have helped us tremendously. I would like to email you sometime and maybe you could give us some insider ideas. Have a great day Pete.
I look forward to watching the old equipment you keep churning away.Love this one, good job.
You had me rolling with the jokes brother. Love your content.
Strangely satisfying.
very nice video showing Famer Pete baling hay. Farmer Pete also likes telling jokes - LOL
I just returned from Tennessee helping my 87 year old father square bale his 30 acres. He farms the land his grandfather once owned, and fortunately we sold it all out of the field and never had to put it in the barn. He has no livestock so he sells it to horse people from the Big South who are moving into the area, fleeing the liberal states. I fondly remember helping my grandfather bale the same land as a teenager.
Excellent videos! As a fellow architect and tractor nut, I'm really enjoying your channel. I got one for ya you are free to use in an upcoming video! Why did the cartoonist leave his job working in Charles Shultz's studio?
He was tired of working for peanuts!
Make sure you drink a lot of water 💧 it getting hot here run around 79 to high 80 files like 100 f. Have a great week and be safe and cool at night
Enjoy your videos
Like the jokes. I tell them at work the next day and get the reaction you might expect. We did square bales in the day. I was about 9 years old and drove the truck. Then a few years later I got volunteered to load the bales. Those were some long hot days in Texas. I remember them with a smile.
I appreciate your smile Pete!
Our neighbor named Brandon is a farmer too, and he cuts hay for his cattle too. We are so thankful for farmers
That certainly is alot different that the baling I saw yesterday. The guy was flying and kicked out 7 bales in about 8 minutes. I would say he was going 8-10MPH, he had newer Case/IH equipment.
Sure would be nice to have that here were having a year like you had last year, very dry
Love the videos. Your calm friendly demeanor makes the pleasant to watch. They are very informative to watch. You have motivated me to try and fix my dad’s old Allie Chalmette C for him.
Pete…. I love you man, your dad jokes are great
Great video.
My husband and I absolutely love your CZcams channel! Your jokes do make us smile! Wish we lived close enough to buy fresh chickens and eggs from you!! Looking forward to the next "episode"!!
Nothing like a video from Pete at Just a few Acres Farm to cheer a person up. Thanks for the ride!
Good job done.
Looking good be safe
Again another great video!
GREAT VIDEO WORK PETE
Nothing smells better than freshly baled hay.
Another great video. I have been contemplating starting a hay operation. Took the plunge this year. Got an old NH 494 haybine, an old NH 256 rake, and Case 8455. Then the rake broke. Fixed it. Then the baler broke. Fixing it. Luckily, we've got a week of weak rain so I've got time to trouble shoot and repair. Thanks for the info and the content!
Iove the video i still have a lot of hay to cut can't get over this covet 19
Oh no. Returned health to you and your family.❤
Glad to see your having a great first cutting Pete 👍
I can’t believe I love watching hay being baled but I do, keep the great videos coming.
Thank you Pete, I loved the video... Love the channel.
I grew up in a small town. Over fifty years ago. Would help the farmers bale hay. Catch the bale coming out of the baler and stack on a wagon. Wagon was taken to the barn and stacked inside. Money was paid by your size and work you could do. But that sit down supper will never forget......
I suspect the squeaking comes from the most bottom round bar where the bale starts to form. The belts slide over it, and as soon as the bale begins to form the belts lift off it and the squeaking stops. Perhaps a squirt of oil on the bearings may reveal the dry-ish spot.
Nice work!
Thanks, Pete, for letting me ride "inside the baler"!!! Always wondered how those things worked!!! ;o)
Keep at it Pete!
Good shofiq did Joe good show Pete I think I both feels you going to have about 33 to 40 bales good luck good show thumbs-up big thumbs up
Keep up the lovley work.
Great farm. Keep going.
now that was cool
Everything seemed to go well. It had cut very well considering the laid crop. I think you need practice at bale count estimation
Ha ha!
great video i like watching theses keep up the great work
I didn’t just like the video. I loved it! I think your vintage equipment is awesome!! That baler is rock and soul. Thanks for taking us along. I know filming is very time consuming. I appreciate your time and effort, Pete.
I love your jokes it puts a smile on my face even though i am in a lot of pain thank you for the smiles!!!
I did enjoy that video. Must feel good to have all that hay stored up for winter. We are very dry in Manitoba, only 2.5 inches of rain so far this season.
Somewhat on topic...on Saturday, I decided to take a ride out on some backroads near where I live...maybe 15 minutes away. As I drove down one road, I saw off to the side a farmer haying his field with an older IH tractor and an equally old haybine! Brought back memories of your earlier mowing videos. Upon seeing this, it sent a wave of calm over me for some reason, so I found my brief excursion well worth the trip. I wonder if he was telling himself 'dad jokes' as he went around and around the field...
Pete, after watching a lot of your videos iv been influenced by you and you creations and im from Australia. please answer this comment Pete.
Hahaha have to say I secretly enjoyed your jokes ! 😅 great video yet again, what an inspiration!
Hello Pete this video should be titled "What you think of while baling hay" great jokes lol. I've made over 3 hundred bales this year first time since 89. Have a great day.
More inside the baler!!
Pete, wow 2-3million bales, you're gonna need a bigger barn
