it basically speaks out agasint perfectionism the idea of telling your kids if you aint perfect your worthless or you fail at life cause that can destory even people who lived amazing lives of luxury like sara did while also pointing out you shouldnt be like sara and look down on others simply because of your high statues cause when those you look down on rise above you in status it feels like a knife to the chest

And yet ironically, she had the perfect chance to boost her popularity, by leading the charge to promote Julie as Prom Queen. She was so close to leaving High School with a perfect popularity end, but let greed and a psychotic dad trip her up at the finish line.
I don’t think greed had anything to do with this. And also, I’d be pretty pissed if everything I worked for was flushed down the straight because some girl lost a leg too. Difference between me and her is that She’s batshit insane.
I think part of it was her need to show that she was popular. Prom queen will make sure that you'll be remembered. Not just as a popular girl but the popular girl.
It's a lot of pressure that was put on her that finally made her snap.

Why is that the first thing you thought of?
Nope. Poisoning, head trama twice, drowned, and stabbed/cut up twice. Pretty common. With Mariana and Eunice (sorry if they are misspelled) it is a bit unclear, but they were certainly cut up, so they were mostly likely just stabbed. But this all makes sense for her character. She's not a sadistic killer who likes to get creative, just trying to kill the competition. She killed in a way that was simplest in that situation.

I'm amazed this song went the route of it being Sara's father who drove her to insanity. You'd think, because the song is about a girl obsessed with being prom queen, that it is her mother abusing her, maybe because she didn't win prom queen when she was a teenager and she is pushing her daughter to be the perfect prom queen to live vicariously, or she was prom queen and refuses to see her daughter not follow in her footsteps. But no, her DAD is the one who makes Sara believe that if she isn't prom queen then she's worthless. It makes me think Sara's dad was a high school star quarterback who married the prom queen and still carried those fucked up high school hierarchy beliefs into adulthood, then verbally beat them into his daughter's head. It's an interesting approach to take.

I really like the plot of the story, a popular girl going off the rails for popularity, it's got the creepypasta theme to it

Brenda Cervantes eh not really it was more like her dad pressured her saying if she failed being prom queen she was also a failure at life. This started the spiral. Shebpushed away her friends and everything to focus on being prom queen which didnt work. This made her lose popularity hence why her friends said she was socially dead. All the while her dad is still telling her that she is a failure if ahe doesnt get prom queen. This pushes her over the edge as nothing she does works, she has lost her friends and boyfriend etc. Now she thinks the only way left to win is to kill the conpetition. Popularity didnt cause the mental break, her fathers pressure and the failure of her tactics before it came to murder did. Nothing supernatural or creepy pasta like.

Here’s an idea me and my friend came up with the other day:
Julie Jenkins is the main singer and the backing singers are the people Sara killed.
Julie doesn’t know they are there (obviously because they are dead)
Julie wrote the song about Sara and the events of prom soon after and often sings it to herself, she hasn’t sung it or shown it to anyone else but the dead people have been there the whole time listening to it, they now back her up every time she sings it. They say the lines about how they died (like Patricia says the line “p is for Patricia drinking poison punch”)
Idk how we came up with this. We just did.
Also, I do theatre and two of my friends from the theatre club are called Sara Berry and Julie Jenkins (Julie has a double barrelled surname but the last part is Jenkins) there’s also someone called Marianna and Anne. Um....yeah.

I think she was planning to kill Julie last: she's the easiest target especially since Julie would have less capacity to defend herself or run, on account of her amputated leg. Maybe her parents gave her everything sara wanted but never gave her attention and that Sara really want to impress them and so she told her parents that she was running for prom queen and her parents were really excited and happy and started paying more attention to her but then Julie lost her leg and everyone started saying they would let Julie become queen and Sara's parents found out and they started lossing interest in Sara then she started going crazy to get their attention then she lost her sanity slowly until she went crazy and decided that she would murder the competition and win her parents favour and so she murdered them and got arrested

I can't decide if it reminds more of Creature Feature's "Gory Demise" because of the letters at the end, or of "The Homecoming Queen's Got A Gun" for obvious reason.
That being said, I reallyove the song. I haven't heard it before, but I think I'm going to be listening to it a lot now! And you did a great job on the animatic, especially near the end. The concept of switching between reality and Sara's perception of it was really well thought out.
Dude! Same! They both fit well in different ways, since 'Gory Demise' has the whole going through the alphabet of deaths and 'homecoming queens got a gun' is about the homecoming queen set in the same sort of place, though it's more of a Gory Demise for me because that's more in theme? (homecoming queens got a gun is more... lighthearted and fun? Played for jokes?) It kinda reminds me of Carrie Underwood too.

While we're talking about being reminded of things, the artstyle gives me similar vibes that these old crime mystery flash games I used to play did for some reason ("Camel City" I think? Idk, it was by the same people that made Quest for the Eclair.)
Honestly, I know everyone's talking about the terrible parenting here, but honestly, I have my doubts about whether those lines even happened. Remember, our narrators in this story are singing through the perspective of Sarah, and Sarah is an inherently unreliable narrator due to her many delusions. Those lines of terrible parenting could have just as easily been completely innocuous lines in reality that Sarah's troubled mind completely spun out of control

i think the first one was real as the father is solid but i dont think he ment to push her like that sarah just took it that way but the second vision of her dad i think is fake cause he looks see through it was most likely her stress trying to convince her to do what she did so her parents had a hand in pushing her but it seems like sara never told them they were putting too much pressure on her
this is actually a sound theory, but im kinds struggling to believe that a gal calling herself a bitch at the beginning of the song would go over the edge when daddy ‘encourages’ her to be prom queen. i personally think that this is narrated by a psychotic sibling. one that sort of whispered in Sara’s ear and gave her ‘ideas’. you see where im going, right?

I love how the singer said "what a bitch" to indicate Julie spoiled his (or their) fun. They are just as messed up as Sara is.
I feel like the “Down on your knees before the queen” is an insult since Julie lost one of her legs so she can’t go on her knees. So at the end it accentuates *down on your knees before the queen* and I just kinda thought about that for a second. Either I’m going crazy or I’m making sense, thanks for reading!

Actually this is super sad, also I never once saw what made the girl a "bitch"
seems more jealous that she was popular & wealthy, I'm all for (and fully endorse) "Eat the Rich"
however I also know when a girl is being called out for being a girl who's happy, or well.. she's pushed to unfair expectations, even by her (most beloved) father, who was likely it seems SUPER ABUSIVE, no in the physical sense that we can see, but in the Emotional & Mental sense.
Much like in Gravity Falls with that blonde girl and her parents using the sound of a bell to control her.
The only thing she ever did wrong, was being born FEMALE to a wealthy family, that appears to be her only crime real crime. The rest is just symptoms of the literally insane levels of abuse done to a young girl's mind over her entire lifetime.
You might not be able to believe this, but emotional abusers can abuse children regardless of sex.
And running into school and killing people is still not the appropriate response.

So I was listening to this, and at 1:52 you can hear the backup go "poor, poor Julie" and it's honestly kinda clever, I mean, let's face it, if it wasn't for the fact that Julie lost her leg, Sara would have been Prom Queen no doubt, and while Julie tooootally deserves it over Sara, the only reason she got it in the first place was so that everyone in the highschool could go, "look how morally upstanding and self-righteous we are, we voted for the handicapped girl and made her feel special" which is about what you'd expect from a bunch of highschoolers anyway, just thought that was a neat way to show the highschool oligarchy at its finest (massive sarcasm withstanding)

I think it would be awesome if this was a movie. I would totally watch that! Something cool I noticed, idk if it was intended, but when the father says “there’s no room for a princess at prom” he could be referring to Sara(h) meaning princess in Hebrew

Fun fact: the name Sara or Sarah means ‘princess’, so her father saying there’s “no future for a princess” shows that Sara herself was never good enough for him, even with all her accomplishments. The prom queen was just an excuse to push her further... and further... until it became her snapping point. I wonder how many of her previous accolades were earned partly through similar pressure from her parents/father (her mother seems to be absent).

I'm going to read too much into this but I'm getting the feeling Julie either never had a Father and imagined him and hence has always been mentally unstable or what her father said never happened but because he always put high expectations on her she was under so much pressure she became irrational and insane because she wanted to please her Father.
