Ultimate Carnage is basically a Flatout 2 remake for the Xbox 360 with improved graphics with a more realistic tone compared to Flatout 2.

Ultimate Carnage to me was a much more polished game. It was truly a destruction derby racer. Every action had consequences. The AI were also so much better, more distinguished and added a sense of rivalry that Total Insanity failed to execute. For instance, whenever you saw Jack Benton or Sofia Martinez coming behind you in her Canyon, you sometimes actually had to get out of their way. They actually had a unique driving style. Where as Ray Carter was no way near as much as a threat, more of a punching bag. The AI were even distinguishable on the radar; Sally Taylor was pink, Jason Walker black, Katie Jackson red etc. They really hit the nail on the head. Flatout 4 to me isn't a destruction derby racer, it feels very clunky at time, which makes it so much less addictive to play. Sooooo much more potential, but definitely fell short in most areas. I hope they remaster UC one day 👌

Looks like Flatout 4 has some better technical graphics and advancements such as shading and lighting, but how it's used and portrayed in an artistic direction with Flatout Ultimate Carnage looks and sounds overall better.

Flatout 4 looks like a cartoon, it doesn't have the Flatout charm. UC has these raw and apocalyptic feel that 3 and 4 don't have.

Honestly it looks like there's a lot that they replicated well enough.. except the sense of speed or the feel like you actually crashed into something. Which are unfortunately the two main things. I also feel like the car selection is mostly uninteresting. The majority seem wacky for the sake of being wacky. Kind of like what you'd find in Carmageddon and I'm not sure if it really works here. Earlier titles seemed more grounded in reality with the separate classes of wreckers, rally cars and the street class, all three having their own pros and cons and different styles. In the end it feels just that, a replica that isn't even up to par with the 10 year old game. They'd have been better off just spending the resources on getting Ultimate Carnage on Steam with proper multiplayer.

I am a huge FlatOut Fan, played the 1st, 2cd game and Ultimate Carnage a long time, was a littel bit disappointed that Ultimate Carnage is only a Remastered FlatOut 2 with maybe 5 new cars and nicer graphics, but thats great 3 games from Bugbear.
Honestly, I think both games are enjoyable in their own right.
Besides, at least they're better than Flatout 3: Chaos & Destruction...

FO2 is the best. UC is nearly as good as FO2. Microsoft managed to screw it up a little (forcing ppl to create accounts, music a bit worse, but still good and some other minor stuff). FO4 looks bad, if we take into consideration that its 2017 game. No physics. No visual damages. Cars look like toys.

Honestly wreckfest reminds me a lot of flatout 1, if you played it. It's less arcade than flatout 2 and UC.

Flatout UC: Better detail, physics, attention to detail and damage model. Despite being a rehash of 2 with some extra content.
Flatout 4: Better lighting, new cars to drive despite looking like plastic, soundtrack par with UC but inferior to 1 and 2, more vegetation to some levels despite others look bland even by 2010s standards.
Definitely going with Ultimate Carnage anyway.
Every time they try to create a better version of Ultimate Carnage they end up messing the game, although the graphics are better, the physics, sound, water and even the character names are worse. Please, don't mess more with it

One new feature I'd want is better cinematic control, such as watching replays from another car's POV (or a separate POV altogether). Does FO4 offer that?

Things I don't like about new one:
-Tracks kinda feel unnatural
-Selection of cars is pretty low and boring
-Vehicles feel too hard and heavy for me (maybe it was supposed to be realistic game?)
-Characters are blank and dull, without real names and good models
-I don't know about soundtrack cause I play with my own music, but I bet nothing can pump up your adrenaline and lust for crashing like UC soundtrack.
Things I like:
-You can feel momentum of the game really well
-They recreated arcade mini games really well
-Sounds of the cars can compare to other modern racing games
-Tuning options in his game feel very advanced compared to older ones "Upgrade Stats up to 3 times of a part" based on the Car class you are
After bugbear gave the rights to another developer the game lost its identity because the identity of the flatout saga is a driving game with physics that try to be as realistic as possible rewarding the aggressive driving but when the flatout went chaos and destruction with a different theme now more arcade with a lot of game modes that are similar and that do not work because of bad physics combined with bad graphics that made the community angry and now with the release of this new release I can not say it is good but it's not bad either, it's a middle point although the game lacks personality with those gothic characters as if it were twisted metal those vehicles destroyed as if they were abandoned cars and the lack of good physics because they seem like shit just to see how the rider reacts the acrobatics of bouncing in the water and of reaching as high as possible shows how ugly they are without mentioning how boring they are e are the models of the cars and they are all the same, there are no more but they are the same but restored and modified in the different classes
Flatout UC can look pretty modern with the right ENB.
I hope thq Nordic buys the flatout IP back so bugbear could get their hand on the series again

I like the first game the best for racing. Every game after feels more like your floating on the ground and you only get car motion and suspension movements on bigger bumps. I still love all the games, but after replaying all the games on steam, the first game is my favorite. I used to really love ultimate carnage, until I replayed the games. I yet to get the 4th game though.
You Should do Car collision comparison it was very funny from flatout 2 :D, Bugbear is professional at car collision (and physics) that's why flatout 2 is funny

I know that FlatOut 4 isn't as good as the ones made by Bugbear, but I think that it's not a bad game, it's fun to play.
However, if you want the closest FlatOut experience in a modern system, try Wreckfest, Bugbear did a great job with that game.

I feel like physics is more important than looking at the graphics because it was literally supposed to be a racing destructive physics engine that turned into a normal racing game with garbage controls and the same damage models you'd see in Forza. Aka, FO4 is literally Forza, but made by a B grade team.

The way I see, Ultimate Carnage shares the similarities of the physics and gameplay with Flatout 2.
Beacuse its the same game just with 2 new cars (Bonecracker and Grinder), 4 new characters (Curtis Wolfe, Lei Bing, Lewis Duan and Jill Richars), different soundtrack its and made for next gen consoles of that time
flatout ultimate carnage has the same exact cars from flatout 2 but improved some features
If they at least had used the same characters from last games with their own story and personality maybe it could have been better.
I gotta say, the Derby stages in Flatout 4 looks a lot more interesting. Now if only they had the physics to work with them.

10:31 The demolition derby is the clear example........just watch the FOUC truck when falls on it sides and goes back up, the truck rebounds when landing...........next the yellow one on FO4 lands as if it has no suspension.......literally, this makes the car look like it's made of cardboard...........it just doesn't look realistic.
