  • The Chevrolet Corvette is a glorious platform for those who want reliable rear wheel drive torque and horsepower. The stereotypical driver for a car like this is generally someone older who intends on barely driving the car and leaving it stock, however this is not your typical corvette and owner. This C6 Z06 is built to run 7 second passes. With a freshly built LS7 and an 88mm turbo this car is bound off to great start.

    OOOHHHH the Turbos are rear mounted on the exhaust system i see. i had no idea that was still around? my dads buddy had a c5...? or c4? i forget whatever bodystyle had the last flipup headlights i know that much lol probably an 99-04 ish with a similar setup and i could not see any significant change aside from the sound. theoretically the idea is that with them mounted behind the exhaust system it will be more efficient by just creating a vaccum at the end instead of shoving the air all the way through the manifold and exhaust from the front. makes sense but i honestly think it makes very little difference though personally. not to mention youd probably be going through turbos and bearings and shit more often cuz theyre more exposed you may have to build like a skid plate type deal while also making sure they'll be able to breathe idk the only forced induction ive ever ran were centrifugal Supercharges although im only 25 im old school like that and i feel that its more fitting for a v8 engine with low power bands and lots of torque turbos are for tiny little thins that weigh nothin and rev to 9 grand so you dont have that crazy boost kick that in a huge engine like this wants nothing but to kill your ass and chew you up and spit you out lol it aint worth it.seems more like a "hey look at me mines differen" type thing really lol which sadly rules way too many people's opinions about cars than it should. like when everyone was so super unique because they had those hideous Rockstar wheels on their truck lol but then 9 hours later evey pickup from here to fuckin Toronto was rockin em lol stay away from the automotive fads do yourself a favor.

    @denlog1177 Před 8 lety +7

    I cannot believe so many people are defending a rear turbo setup for being as good or as efficient as a front mounted one. Unless the car is leaving at max boost turbos are a "feedback" type of power adder. The closer to the exhaust ports the better for everything turbo related. A shorter distance to the turbo means less engine cycles are needed to fill up the pipe leading to the turbo, which will then start to turn the compressor side of the turbo faster. If the turbo is closer to the engine then the newly pressurized air is then fed into the engine sooner, which makes more power sooner, and more/hotter exhaust sooner. The feedback loop is much quicker to respond and it is more efficient since the gas is hotter the closer the turbo is to the exhaust ports. The only reason to ever do a rear mount is if you cannot fit it into the engine bay. Less weight too.

    • @mercsan117

    • @StrikerFin

    • @parkerracing7374
      @parkerracing7374 Před 5 lety +1

      True what your saying, with a manual, but with an auto you don't lift off on gear changes, and the other advantages of rear mount is you can run proper headers... gotta be some HP there and a lot less heat under the hood. Last but not least, a lot easier to work on the motor, and looks a whole lot tidier.
      To me, the advantages outweigh the negative, and I seriously doubt there would be a measureably noticeable ET loss... add 1lb boost and I'm sure you'd be there. anyway.

    • @zaknefain100
      @zaknefain100 Před rokem

      @@parkerracing7374 Yep, and you can add more boost because you're dealing with much lower IATs. There are lots of advantages. • @TETRASTAIN
      @TETRASTAIN Před 8 lety +43

      if by ridiculously long spool time you mean an extra 100-200 rpms then yes

    • @WhiteVenum
      @WhiteVenum Před 8 lety +10

      +kcracing 1 you ever set and drove a car with same engine set up, same size turbo one with front mounted turbos and one with rear mounted? It's not a 100-200 rpm difference. The difference in my experience was 1700rpm. Friend sold that kit for a front mount first change he got. It's junk.

    • @WhiteVenum

      +kcracing 1 he ether has lots of ci in the motor or the turbos are tiny. Or both. The rear mounted system is extremely unefficient.

    • @emeraldages

    • @DracolegacyOfficial
      @DracolegacyOfficial Před 8 lety +1

      less heat in the engine compartment and the length of the exhaust leading to the turbo allows for more pressure to build up at lower rpms to help alleviate the lag problem.

      It is on purpose.
      It allows the other car to clear the track so in the event his car gets out of shape it does not hit a competitors car.
      Also it prevents a comparison of ET and speed with the car in the other lane, keeping his ET and speed somewhat unknown.
