One of the most impressive CRAZY street cars we've seen in the past few years, and it's so damn simple! Slap a giant turbo on a C5 Corvette, put a giant tire on the back, and hold on for dear life! OK, so maybe it's not that simple to lay down 1200hp + on the street, but we think you'll agree that this
granny shifting so it doesn't break the transmission and it still can keep up and be competitive, big respect to that C5

Lol a sequential gearbox was the first thing I thought the vette needed in all of those races. It would be literally a few car lengths faster in a race if it shifted faster.

It's pretty amazing how hp seems to be the only limiting factor here and not the various differences in coefficients of drag between these cars.
It would be nice to see some automatics on these cars to minimize delays with shifting. While an auto may not be as sexy, it would seem to make more sense at these power levels.

Not really the HP but the torque value, i mean he is starting in 3rd and no one is pulling on him, the torque value should be a lot more higher than that to the wheels for any of these cars if they start a race in 2nd vs his 3rd gear, yet he hangs right with them
Sea Tac Assassin Correct. HP is also a means of determining how well the torque is applied throughout the power band for any given engine. Therefore, the higher the HP the more efficient the power plant and vice versa. So ultimately, the car with the highest HP is the most efficient vehicle and the one that will pull hardest in the top end, with the exception of low speeds where torque is what gets mass moving off the line. Which is why small displacement engines (with lots of hp) can keep up with large engines in the top end. This is especially true in multi-valve engines with variable phase and timing for both intake and exhaust valves. Then there's also forced induction, but I digress. In any case, all of these cars are awesome in their sheer speed and power. Kudos to all.
Yeah. If had an auto he would have been beating all of the people here. Like the gtr is an auto. This is impressive because all it is. Is a ls engine with a precision turbo. And it can do this...
brendan mccarthy the gtr is sort of an auto, but it's not your grandpa's auto. It's a dual clutch transmission. So there is a clutch on each of the two transmission shafts and it prestages the next gear before shifting out of the current one. In theory they could make it a manual if they wanted two clutch pedals and two levers but that would be unmanageable. There is no lossy torque converter or planetary gear set like a conventional auto. I think it's a much better design and is the only transmission I would consider buying over a traditional standard gearbox.

There is a very very small chance this man's 1200hp Corvette has a stock clutch. And yes you can "shift with a stock clutch fast lol.
***** Shifting is easy, maintaining traction would be the hard part. I've never driven a 1200 hp, I have driven a 1994 Supra that made a little over 900 hp at the wheels. The car was a beast and 1st-3rd gear would lite up the tires as soon as the turbo spooled, but I was able to shift quickly.

whats your redline at? it seems the turbos like rpms. an lsx motor might only hit like 6000 or 6500 rpm. that may be a small factor as well.

If I were in that vette with that big engine pushing equivalent up to a little Inline 6, and I was losing, I'd have to make lame excuses too. Even when he was in the next gear he still wasn't pulling on the other cars any better.
