when I realized that the whole song is dedicated to her 9y.o son, and not to ex, then the song perceived very differently. And I can't even imagine what awaits us on November 19 (A new album dedicated to her son)

This makes more sense to me, this song doesn’t feel like a song about divorce to me, it feels like an explanation of change to someone that is involved but not old enough to fully understand.

Apparently THIS is the demo recording. Which is nuts that it’s that perfect on the first go, but that’s Adele 🥺 Also, her turning the video from Black and white and going to color has the same effect on me as when Ariana FINALLY colorized and opened her eyes on her album cover Sweetener. It’s like a symbolic awakening. I think this album will have lots of reflective, positive outlooks on her marriages demise. With Easy on Me, she’s saying, “I’ve fought the good fight, but we’re not understanding each other anymore. So, what are we fighting for?” I’m so so excited for her and her life and success 🤍

I read her vogue interview. Her entire album is the demo recording she refused to re record her vocals. Just another reason why I love her. She brings back an authenticity and rawness to the music industry that has been missing for a long time.

Spot on. As a vocalist I noticed her lip sync was near perfect as well. It's just a cherry on top of a beautiful performance.
Musicians notice it too... not just the mouth movements but you can tell she's feeling the highs and lows of the music with her hand movements as well... I love that!

I saw Adele live and thats what I LOVED about her show. It was about the vocals. No need for the big show with useless backup dancers and massive production. It was her center stage with her band. It was absolutely breathtaking.

She has beautifully lightened her voice as a whole, what she really needed to do in order to warrant vocal longevity. It really is tears worthy.
her voice definitely changed so much over the past 6 years. my jaw dropped when i heard the song for the first time.
This guy should have done some research, her voice is changed so much and more restrained because she had to have surgery on her voice, which is some of the reason why it's been six years since her last album as well.
It's so melancholy but uplifting at the same time? She's such a goddess.

Absolutely loved the analysis portion, Tristan! It's really interesting to make the connection amongst what we hear and what we see to what's going on in the voice and resonance areas! Also, I don't know the timeline but I've heard in interviews that Adele didn't do any vocal work during her hiatus (barring working on the album which didn't begin until years into her hiatus). She says that all she does is give her voice a break and never sings; that even when she started sharing some tracks to her friends and agent that they commented on just how nice it was to hear her sing again because she doesn't when she's on break.

Streamed that Song 150+ times. Glad she‘s back. Her impact on the music industry is unbelievable, even after 6 sears not realising anything.
I don't think her voice changed, rather she just changed some of her vocal techniques to suits the song narrative as it being her weakest point of her life, which explains her singing softly than other times saying please go easy on me. she said she was crying the whole time recording the song, since the song was her way to say to her son and the others close to her to go easy on her regarding her decision. the fact that her album is dedicated to her son explaining herself to him when he grow up is heartbreaking and give a whole new perspective to the emotions and lyrics portrayed here and then.

The fact that she hired my fellow quebecer Xavier Dolan for the video again is making me very proud. The transition from black and white to colour, her new era, makes me tear up ! The last show I saw before the pandemic was for my mom's birthday, we went to see an Adele tribute by one of the girls who was in the "Undercover Adele" sketch for the BBC, so it's very special to me to see the real Adele coming back in full force.
