  • In Mega Man Revolution Remix, instead of just straight refights, returning mini-bosses you encounter in the Fortress Stages will have new looks, attacks and/or patterns.
    This video shows the mini-bosses from Saw Man, Haste Man & Pyre Woman, and their Fortress Stage refights.
    Some levels have significant differences between playstyles and depending on the player character, you might get different paths. Some of those paths also come with fights unique to them.
    There will often be additional updates on either my personal twitter account or posted by Mike on the official Revolution Remix twitter, links below.

    Casual reminder in regards to QR2 - Revo's coming first. As stated in the video, the game is almost playable from start to finish so... yeah that's the main focus. There might be the odd smaller QR2 update posted to my twitter every so often as I still work on it in the background.

    Man, I remember playing MegaMan Revolution. While the game has an okay set of Robot Masters and some pretty questionable soundtracks, it does make up for the fortress stages. It's a rare moment where most of the spotlight are in the fortress stages in a MegaMan game, especially when it is double-in-length than the regular 3-5 stage standard.

      @MikeCrain Před 2 lety

      There are actually quite a few icons including one that only one midboss gets that will probably be a nice surprise for people who are familiar with games from like Windows 95. Enemies in the stages also have the appropriate icons though. Like Sondebar stages give the normal enemies that icon etc.

    I have a question: will Custom man released alongwith Revo, and also we can make our own custom man from small to big character's size and make our own custom abilities, like spindash, karate, etc.?

    • @ACESpark
      @ACESpark  Před 2 lety +1

      There's a fair bit of leeway with character size but the hitbox can't be altered.
      At the moment you can make a custom default weapon (with a lot of options for how it works and types of attacks) and a large list of weapons to customise your load out. Some of those attacks include Melee options and even both a Mario *and* Sonic-style jump.
      There is also a large list of predetermined traits to choose from, with some being unlockable.
      It's still a work in progress so a lot of specifics are in flux, but its quite customisable.

    • @MikeCrain
      @MikeCrain Před 2 lety +1

      @@rocketknightx6066 the hitbox of default weapon shots will increase if you use bigger dimensions per sprite for it. The character itself can do the same which I might implement in a very limited way. Since the player hitbox still has to be shorter than 2 tiles and thinner than one tile so you can actually get through all levels.

    so megaman get the short end of the stick in a fan game.........again:
    1)Mega Arm range and rapid fire doesnt even compete with regular mega buster his only saving grace is picking up item from a distance but that about it.
    2)I thought Bass Buster would start out at 5 then go to 7 or 8 but 13???
    3)Yep Protoman have a dash why not he only have a real mega buster+Proto shield to off set his double damage.
    Original Revolution already made Bass the superior option for casual and for speedrun now i guess Protoman will join the club too. 😢

    • @ACESpark
      @ACESpark  Před 2 lety

      Hey there!
      We welcome feedback and I 100% understand the fear here.
      It's something we've had in mind and I already tried to rectify as far back as the Fusion build of the game - but there's a lot of snap judgements you're making here based off a very small selection of 'up to date' footage (including a boss that literally *only* Bass fights, and, despite what I already said, footage in this video is *already* outdated) and I gotta say, its not a fair way to judge game balance that not even Capcom could get balanced right.
      And as of this week there's been several playthroughs from start to (near) finish, each time we've been tweaking some aspect about the main 3 characters.
      It's taking time to get there and nothings final until its final.
      The game is primarily based around Mega Man's ability set - not Bass', which was the problem with MM&B and left MM hobbled. The Wonderswan game also balanced the game around Mega Man but did not modify Bass to compensate so that left *him* hobbled in that game.
      At the moment I'd say Mega Man and Bass are about on the same power level and difficulty. They also take around the same amount of time to beat the game.
      In places where Bass' abilities absolutely trivialises a section - he tends to gets a new section. Several stages have entirely new parts amended to them so Bass and other likewise movemently gifted characters get an actual platforming challenge.
      That 13 damage Bass deals just means boss fights no longer take until the heat death of the universe when fighting them buster-only as Bass, but Mega Man still defeats them far quicker on average.
      Mega Man also does a much better job at killing enemies than Bass. This isn't always the case - there are some sections where one character is clearly better than the other, but this equalises out.
      Finally *any* previously revealed information on Proto Man is oh so very vastly out of date, and this is something this video clearly shows - he's doing the same damage output as Mega Man and has a factor that just as cannot be shown with that particular Mini Boss - we've been trying to give him a very different playstyle beyond "Normal Mega Man with a shield', and that will require an entire Vlog once we're reasonably confident we've got it balanced correctly.
      I'll give you one thing you got - Proto Man *is* the character made for Speed Running in mind, and that's by design, but I don't think you can exactly call it casual.
      At the moment I'd say he's the most difficult character to use.

      @@ACESpark hopefully you can make megaman as powerful because almost every other fan game that has multiple character megaman is alway the "vanilla" or "hard mode" either because charge shot being nerf to 2 damage or slide is weaker,etc.............
      I play Orginal Revolution wayyyyyyyyy.......back in the day and Bass absolutely crush every section the best example is the final boss section where megaman either have rush jet or have to shoot at hand for eternity while bass can pretty much skip them(the second example is the Saw stage which megaman can barely outspeed while Bass snooze along)and his weakness of having weak buster doesnt matter much because weapon in the original have too many ammo to spam and you have additional secret weapon too and you can carry 9 W tank.
      Ok sorry for rant i just wish megaman wasnt the "hard mode" of most fan game

    • @MikeCrain
      @MikeCrain Před 2 lety

      @@Megaman-2407 the concern is understandable, but there are a lot of things put in place like the mapping changes in quite a few places to prevent characters with traits like double jump (such as Bass) from just soaring over them because large open spaces actually are bad level design for someone like Bass and that is something I since realized. Some things also change behavior based on the character's traits, such as if your character has aiming, this one midboss doesn't stay down as long in what would be a range only Mega Man could hit, because aiming characters can still hit it as it goes up off the screen. There are also cases where there's an attack that can only be dodged by easily sliding under it, but Bass has to double jump over it which is more of a hassle. We actually added i-frames like bosses have to midbosses so Bass can't just slaughter them in 3 seconds before they can even attack lol. His buster does slightly more damage now than Mega Man's level 1 shot, but this is to try to make the fights take about as long for both characters with boss i-frames and Bass being unable to charge shot. We also recently got rid of his shots being able to go through walls with his buster boost and the fire rate increases is all.

      @@Megaman-2407 I just realized to say the reason his Mega Arm only goes half a screen length is actually a huge advantage because he can't fire while it's flying and so it returns sooner. He also has other good traits like getting more item drops and he can move on ladders while shooting, but not tossing like Iron Saw.
