Love Unwound. Terminus goes so hard. I like their heavier post hardcore material for regular listening like The Future of What or Repetition but its all great.

It’s such a joy to watch someone listen to this album for the first time. This band is really special and maybe I’m biased but I think all of their albums hold up to this one. I’m really excited that you want to check out more. This was their last album and they had so much development as a band that I think you should go back and listen to their first album “fake train” or listen to “repetition” which is my favorite. But all of their albums are incredible and very different so I recommend listening to all of them. Great video!

What I love about unwound is that you always pick up something new whenever you re listen to some of their stuff since their discography is that vast, particularly one that came about in a music scene where bands would really only last 2-4 albums. The backing vocals in Demons Sing Love Songs, the bass chords in Laugh Track, and the hilarious jazz outro of Who Cares really showcase how unique they are.

this is a bit long: i'm going to finish this whhole thing soon since i was recommended this. you look really young but i just heard about them last year (i am 31) and it's so cool seeing much younger people get into them. this album is AMAZING aand if you get the chance i hope you can see them if you want-def people around my age, yours, older. i saw them twice (mar 10, 11) and the energy was AMAZING. and all of them are like in their late 40s, as vern would have been (not saying they can't rock you but ykwim!) it seems like you really liked scarlette so if you do i think you will enjoy their entire discography. like most people said fake train as an intro to them is WILD, i started with that and worked my way forward but i wonder how you would feel going backwards. tbh i've loved everything they ever made. they are also INFINITELY grateful bc they never thought people loved them this much.
it really is worth it tio get into them. your face and reaction when you heard scarlette is relatable. 36:45 THAT IS THE MOST WONDERFUL FEELING TO SEE. unwound take you on this amazing turbulent journey and seeing them live i made so many of the same faces you did (also cried at the end!) it seems like you're just in awe, and that's what music/art should do. i hope you keep goin' these are really cool and i love seeing people care about this band. btw they were on kill rock stars with elliott smith! your excitement is amazing! one thing...their albums are LONG lmao. i LOVED seeing this video i really did lmao i hope you enjoy them if you ever care to listen to more. thank you for sharing! i look forward to seeing you listen to more. (btw they really arent just post hardcore truly. they were part of the washington grunge scene so kurt cobain had seen them play lol. there's no one like them) if you are still a teen or under 21 they always play all ages shows so if you can see them i would recommend it. look a ghost and scarlette live? you will be transported.
also keep going, you're just getting started so your set up is going to be your set up but you're trying and that's what matters. i sound very old sorry :P

Just got to see them with my girlfriend last night, one of the best shows i've ever seen. This band means the world to me. They changed how I viewed music, especially when writing music. Interesting to hear you compare them to duster a lot, curious to see if you still think that when checking out their other albums. Vern will forever be one of the best bassists of all time and I don't care what people say. RIP VERN!!!
Would love to see you review Mohinder or Calm (duster side projects) along with eifuawn.

Fantastic review Snowy. It's definitely very Slint in places, who were very influential to so many people.
I know it's difficult to find the time sometimes to listen to a very long album, but I'm looking forward to your first listening of The Glowing Man by Swans.
The title track is the penultimate piece, which is then followed by a short track that cleverly and perfectly wraps up the whole album experience. I think that it's their best album, and many of my friends here in England seem to say the same thing also. It comes after The Seer, and To Be Kind , and I think you can definitely hear elements in this album from the previous two. I'm not referring to melody, lyrics or song structure, but more towards general dynamics. The balance of the album is incredibly Satisfying.
I know that you've heard the title track before, but maybe it's been long enough now, and you have nearly an hour and a half of new Swans material to hear before your head is blown off again by The intensity of The Glowing Man.
    Cheers Dude
John, near Winchester in the south of England.

Dude. Unwound are one of my favorite bands, up there with Nine Inch Nails. You got them right as they broke up. My favorite album of theirs is "New Plastic Ideas", but be warned: the further back you go the more hardcore (or post-hardcore if you prefer) you get. And "Summer Freeze" is my favorite song on this album. :)

I listened to it driving around in my car in oregon at night while it was raining. Hey bro! I love your channel, you have a good vibe, I saw your Cocteau twins reaction and think you should try out Blue Bell Knot, that album is from 1988 and it sounds lightyears she’s dog it’s time, it’s a much different album than heaven or Las Vegas which is an amazing album, but this album is transcending, her vocals on every track is on point everytime, if it’s not the instrumental making the tracks it’s the vocalist taking charge. But the instrumentals often swell into these amazing crescendos, it’s really an amazing album

It seemed to me that your reaction was unnatural, because you often praised moments that have no value and expression. Perhaps these moments are just like that for me, but logically the losses with the main guitar, which have been repeated many times, sound familiar and are like the basis of the sound, and not some catchy part of the song. Probably it's a taste.

Hey. Love that you are giving Unwound the time of day. This band started in 1991 and they have released absolute unclassifiable, mind melting bangers since their first release. Sounds like no one else on this planet and they were beyond innovative and inspirational and fierce in their approach to their unique vision and way with a song. So go back to one of their first masterpieces. It was called Fake Train and it will blow you away. The album hits you like a tornado with its jagged, sharp edges and cut-throat attack on yr once ordered life. They did things their own strange and bewitchingly chaotic way with absolute determination and dirty grit and grime. I love this band and their lo-fi, Independent spirit. So much they released over the years were in a league of their own. How about reacting to some absolute legends of the underground independent music scene like Big Black or Sonic Youth? J

@@anewplasticidea Thanx. Appreciate the compliment. Been head over heels in love with this band since hearing You Speak Jealously on the Kill Rock Stars compilation from 1991. It's the best track on that album(which says a lot considering that album had tracks from Melvins, Nation of Ulysses, Bratmobile, Nirvana, Witchy Poo and Jad Fair). Never saw them live unfortunately. I live in Johannesburg, South Africa so my chances of seeing a band like that in this shit hole was always zero. I could only dream... J
