- Scott and Cody (The Oolong Drunk) drink a 2013 Shou Mei White Tea from Fujian. They discuss the tea, what "aged tea" is, Lucy's Royal status, the future of The Oolong Drunk, and much more!
The Shou Mei White Tea we drank isn't available just yet, but will be available soon on YunnanSourcing.com!
The Silver Jingdezhen Gaiwan that I showed off briefly is available here:

Love it! Those stupid stereotypes we are fed here in Europe about Americans! And here we go all the way down in Texas having one of the most sophisticated things like an afternoon teatime! Eyeballing your silver tea ware there!
Texas is one of the most diverse places in the US both politically and culturally. People here are generally very into food and drink, so naturally appreciation of tea is growing rapidly here.
This tea is drinking pretty well in 2024
The reason the photography for the yunnan sourcing website was so horrible to carry out is because you guys went hog wild and posted the most comprehensive product photos ever. They are really great, above and beyond.
iam drinking the 2014 shou mei right now and its absolutely amazing, very sweet sugarcane like taste love it
Good stuff! Glad you are enjoying it! Thanks for watching!
@@Yunnansourcing you are welcome
A YS tea expo sounds sweet. What about a BYOG (bring your own gaiwan/teapot) type tea expo? Distributing near boiling water to everyone might be tough, I guess. Maybe a few electric hot water dispensers and insulated kettles/jugs?
I think it would be fun... just let people go to town being able to brew any of the hundreds of teas we offer. ;-)
I love you guys! Cheers from Mocsow!
Hi! Hope you are doing well! XOXO
if making this video makes you 'not normal' what does that say about those of us watching it?
Hahaha... welcome back my friends to the show that never ends! come inside! come inside!
I just ordered a cake of the 2014 Fuding Shou Mei and look forward to comparing it to the 2018 that I already have. Also, if you guys are ever in the New Orleans area I'd love to share a cup (or maybe something just a tad stronger).
Great video! I may have missed it, but I was wondering what parameters you would recommend for aging white cakes at home? Would the RH and temperature be about on the same scale as puerh?
Yes... same as you would age pu-erh.
Nice video. I will definitely check out Cody's site. Interested in any tea festivals near Louisville, Ky. Hoping Cody has a list or a link. Tea on
Was thinking of doing an Austin Tea Festival but alas I am just too busy. It will happen someday!
all tea has catchecins in it. catechins affect the cb1/cb2 receptors with the same affinity as cannabinoids like THC. In cannabis the THC is potentiated by the CBD, which has an affinity about 50 times stronger which is why the plant is stronger.
Hey... I learned something! Thank you!
Thank you and Cody for a great video. Glad to get another pointer to a good tea website.
It was interesting to hear you talk about your own website, which I think is excellent. The careful tagging of products makes searches easy. Please never remove sold out items but continue to just mark them “sold out”. Being able to easily go from a particular tea to the samples where the tea is available would be helpful but maybe that is already possible.
A BYOG Yunnan tea expo would be great; especially for people who do not live close to good tea houses; however, your videos and the large variety of inexpensive samples you offer, lessens the need for such a venue.
Dallas has some of the best Ethiopian restaurants in the States outside of the DC area. There are also some good Middle Eastern restaurants; although, Houston is probably better. I don't know of any good Saudi restaurants but there are some good Persian restaurants in Houston, as well.
Has the 2013 Shou Mei been released on the site?? Waiting in anticipation..
Haha really soon. We are so slow to get the teas photographed. My photographs are passable at best so I've hired a friend in China to do the photos from now on. We have alot of products for him to take pics of!!!
I'd sacrifice my first born to drink tea with Scott
Luckily the price isn't so high. Just let me know if you'll be in the Austin/San Antonio area!
Stephen Tate seems like this dude squandered his interview time
Awesome video! And so true about people not understanding true tea if they don't drink it and enjoy it. I would say all of us that drink true tea definitely have our own community haha. When I tell people that's unfamiliar with it that I drink puerh... they give me the weirdest look. 😂
Exactly! It's like being a member of a semi-secret club. The longer you drink these special teas, the more it it brings subtle (good) changes to your overall experience of life! ;-)
You steep tea, you brew coffee.
Hey Scott, any estimate on when this will be released?
Dragon Balls in a week, the cake in about 2 weeks.
Thank you!
Thanks for the video. Interesting about the silver teapot, and I see you use it in a lot of your tastings. Would you consider doing a video going into more detail about how brewing in silver compares to various clays/porcelian/glass, what teas are best suited, etc.?
I'll consider it. I don't really have evidence that silver is better, just my experience of drinking tea using silver and of course comparison. I'm not sure what the content of the video would be exactly? Silver rocks! Buy it!
You should put a link for said gaiwan
Just added it.
Thanks a lot Scott! Now I'm all freaked out about off esophageal cancer
Just don't gulp down hot liquids... I don't know if you noticed but I like to do a high pour from the teapot into the cha hai and a high pour from the cha hai to the cups. I will sometimes blow on the tea in the cup too.
10g/200ml gaiwan is less concentrated than 1g/15ml.
Green Miracle is my heart and soul... When will these cakes be available?
Pretty soon... a couple of weeks at the most.
