- Our podcast, We Used to be Friends, was able to participate in the Lionsgate Film creation, American Underdog. Zachary Levi, Anna Paquin, Kurt and Brenda Warner, and the Erwin Brothers who directed the film are all here. They even used one of our questions, the first one to Anna Paquin. This was a blast!
I lived in O'Fallon MO...and got to take my Dad to the Superbowl, won tickets from the radio station and will never forget that wonderful year. Kurt his beautiful wife and them always thanking God for the miracles happening in their life. I will never forget the time I was at the Mall on an escalator, going up. I was looking over at the escalator going down. I saw a son, scared to step on it...he was with his Dad encouraging him, it's okay. I was thinking how sweet to see a Dad at the mall by himself with his son and being sweet and patient with him. As we moved pass each other...I saw the Dad was Kurt Warner. I just mouthed, hi Kurt, he mouthed hi. I believe it was close to Mother's Day and I was like Wow...he was taking his child shopping for Mother's Day. Kurt and Brenda were such normal, God loving people in St Louis.

I knew Kurt Warner's story would be made into a movie ......it had to be , Amazing real life story ! I still remember when Trent Green went down with injury in pre-season , then Coach Dick Vermeil crying saying We will rally around Kurt Warner and play good football ! Vermeil was WRONG , they rallied and Kurt Warner Played unbelievable Great football , all the way to a Super Bowl victory !

I saw the movie today and I can honestly say it’s the most inspirational true story I’ve ever seen. I’m going to see it again next week.
Beautiful, movie. I loved every minute from the moment Zach brought Kurt into the house. I love the father-son relationship and the little actor who portrayed Zach was amazing. Best movie I’ve seen in years.

I truly hope people go and see this movie. It’s more than faith and football. It’s the story of working to be better people and hard work. Good job to all involved.
Great interview with these 6 people. I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie as are both my adult children. I have been a Rams fan since the early 70's and this story was such an inspiration to me, my kids and my father. I was also inspired by Brenda's and Kurt's faith in God.

It sound like a good story, maybe will se it .
But that super bowl, has a bad memory for me. I’m a long time Kansas City Chiefs fan. And on that day, my ALL time favorite Football player Derrick Thomas #58 .. was driving from KC MO to St.Louise MO to go see the Super Bowl . He hit a very bad patch of ice on the highway that caused him to lose control of his car and crashed . He was thrown from the vehicle and broke his back. Month later he died in the hospital from a blood clot caused by the accident. 😭 he was so young, and such a Amazing Defensive End .
So this is what that year / super Bowl was to me.. a tragedy.. So maybe I will see This movie and give it a new Memory.
I did learn one thing from that accident.. always wear your seatbelts!

The best thing about Brenda and Kurt is that they are real. They have flaws and a true inspirational story that makes us want to be better.
I really hope their next project is the faith based story of Bill Belisle. The rink mananer who became the nations greatest high school coach in history at Mount Saint Charles Academy. He created not onlu two number one over all picks and dozens of NHL players but he inspired all of us to be adults

I LOVE "K DUB" and his family
Have seen it since 99 as a kid, that whenever someone talks about kurt and Brenda's kids, especially zach, their facial expressions change. Their kids make them so happy. You would assume thats the way it is but its not always that way. I saw someone a while back and this puzzled me. He had a kid and as a dad i said isnt it just the best feeling ever and he said eh yeah its alright. I couldn't believe what i was hearing. I assumed everyone was in love with their kids. The only bad thing about having kids is that it doesn't last forever. Thats something thats unbearable to accept.

This if the first movie I’ve seen where the lead actress is not as good looking as the actual person. Brenda is way prettier
