"Imagine a world where things are repaired one more time than they are broken."
That gave me goosebumps. You’re an inspiration Laura.
After watching the video advert i was still skeptical. But when i finally downloaded the plans czcams.com/users/postUgkxZF0EMnrujZvqHhGkxiz559uIABJWR9TG i was very impressed. The whole plan was just as you said in the video. Thank you very much. I now have a large and valuable collection for my woodworks. This is great!
Laura: "it was destroyed beyond repair"
also Laura: *repairs it*
Rebuild and repair are two different things
@@DragonGateDesign also i guess she meant to say in place repair...
😂😂😊😊
I love Laura!
I tell my own kids and the ones I teach "be a maker, not a breaker" as I hate seeing made stuff broken. Good on you Laura, we need more like you.
That's also a good quote! Should be told much more to the world. at least to the kids, as they are teached for the future not to be as ignorant as most of the adults these days are. Just for their own future ❤️
❤️
I literally teared up when you said "Imagine a world where things are repaired one more time than they are broken." What a beautiful sentiment. Thank you, Laura Kampf. You're amazing.

Yep. Me too. Thank you, Laura. I must have needed that today.

I thought I was the only one. Thank you Laura, indeed.

"Imagine a world where things are repaired one more time than they are broken." - Laura Kampf
THAT is the most inspirational quote of 2021. Thank you, Laura. You're brilliant.
Also, I loved the new bench and Smudo's detective skills finding the broken one.
Thank you! Yes, Smudo did great!!
We need to take that and make it a mantra. Thanks Laura!!
So powerful thanks Laura and keep in on!
That should be on a shirt!
imagine a world were you hide in the bushes and vandalize the vandals as they appear. Great work as always Laura.
I was angry that someone would be so heartless and damage a place created for all to enjoy, but then I saw Laura’s smile and bright eyes and learned once again that there are many ways to relate to events. Thank you Laura for helping me to see the world in a slightly different way. You are beautiful inside and out.
The joint between the back and the seat was not robust enough, a large person leaning back, or a teen trying to stand on top of the backrest, or even getting knocked over onto its back by a mower, likely overcame the thin wood joint that failed.
Some people are makers. Others-oddly-seem to enjoy the destruction of public-spirited accomplishments. The reasons for recreational destruction are a complete mystery to me. Laura, I'm so glad there are fearless, joyful and indomitable makers like you in our world.
"Imagine a world where things get repaired one more time than they get broken."
Choked me up…thank you Laura
@@refusedone you're not alone
Sounds like you have yourself a merch idea there...
You can only repair broken things, so a thing can only be repaired as many times as it is broken?
Maybe: "Imagine a world where things are repaired as many times as they are broken."
That's the beauty of art though. It doesn't have to be perfect, rational, or logical.
.... that should be on a Shirt...
Let’s all fix something public this week! At least we can secretly scatter some flower seeds or remove some trash.
That is the sprit!!
one good deed also counts? Imho you dont have to limit it to things

Will never understand why Laura doesn't have at least 2 million subscribers. Great ideas, talent, and awesome outlook 🙌
You got that right Eric. I love the way her eyes just smile
Mailing a bench out of steel so you can open beer bottles - that’s what I call attention to detail!
Great work, Laura, as always!
That is all it takes: repairing one more time than breaking. This is the kind of world I want to live in. Thank you everyone that makes Laura's work possible - it is so important!
❤️❤️❤️
It is citizens like you who makes the world a better place to live in.
Kids will be kids, they will break stuff, but german kids are kinder....
I love what you do Laura, if all of us made a public project that can make someone happy for a little while, the world would be a much happier place. Someone who needs to rest will find this bench and think "someone did this for others"
Imagine a world where the makers outnumber the destroyers by even one. Progress would be painfully incremental but assured. You are a marvelous person and I am proud to "know" you. Keep your finger on the scale Laura.
The world needs more Laura Kampfs!! I love how you didn't let it get you down and you decided to make your bench even stronger than it was before :) True to your name, you're a fighter!
"This is why we can't have nice things." You are such a good, decent person. Hope it rubs off.
We CAN have nime things, but often some folks aren't prepaired with lots of good brain. Then we must do it better and explain over and over again. And make it ok again. And again. Like Jesus did and still does. †o do this with people as well is ours. Be blessed!
Your philosophy is beautiful. Thank you for the bench.
Beautiful person. Beautiful person.
As someone who no longer can walk great distances, but still likes to walk, I thank you for making a bench. The world needs more benches and less assholes.
"Imagine a world where things are repaired one more time than they are broken." - Laura Kampf
simply brilliant
Including hearts.
Love this! You have the right spirit.
That was to be expected... Sad but this is the risk of guerilla art. Had about 10 pieces around my home town. Two survived and I replaced two that also remain relatively unscathed.
Remember always:
Between you fixing it and 'them' breaking it are probably hundreds of thankful buts in that seat. Keep fixing. We will win this. I will go back and fix all my art too. You are an inspiration!
People are animals.
It should not be expected! Everyone knows not to destroy the property of others. And even then - its been artfully repaired, why could this someone not enjoy it? This is sad and I just can't wrap my head around it
@@ReversusLaxus I know. It shouldn't. Alas it only takes one Arschloch to break it. Luckily it also takes one Engel to fix it.
@@HenkJanBakker the key is: „Don’t let the „Arschlöcher“ succeed.
@@Rsama60 It's not very easy to ignore the Arschlöcher, and sometimes it's even more difficult to just repair one other time what they visibly have destroyed on purpose. It got worse the last decade. It got worse since I started guerilla-repairing benches and infusing guerilla-art into my town some three decades plus change ago.
Beautiful young lady had to subscribed you saying "Imagine a world where things are repaired one more time than they are broken." touched this old woman's heart. Love you inspiring words and your positive outlook. May you go really far in this life. Wishing you all the Best life has to offer. Thank you for being you. Love your work also.
i love this from an engineering standpoint. you fixed the bench once, it broke, you took what you learned from the first time and made a stronger and more easily fixable bench for the future! god i love this so much!
"Search Dog Smudo" sounds like a great idea for a TV action-adventure series.

A nice combination of a tougher design and a beautiful aesthetic. I love, and live that philosophy you espouse. Thank you for articulating it so well.
Einfach wundervoll! Man merkt, dass Du mit so viel Liebe und Herzblut bei der Sache bist und nichts Aufgesetztes, sondern tief Ehrliches präsentierst. ❤️🏳️🌈💪🏼
The only thing I would do differently would be to anchor the bench to the concrete base so it will not "walk away".
A great job and a excellent example for other people hopefully to follow.
When Laura walks away with it, it comes back better.
I'm surprised she didn't chain it to that ring that was anchored to the cement.
I was thinking the same.. why not just avoiding this to happen again and just make it somehow fit the environment instead of the previous one that was really pretty but didn't fit. Anyways. It's a cool project.
She might do that !
Ladies like her are full of nice surprises !
Yes. I was surprised she found the bench and it was not thrown in the river. It should be secured with a chain. But then next time a vandal will bring a bolt cutter with them . . .
What a marvelous story and a beautiful answer. I love the philosophy of imagining a world where everything gets fixed one more time than it is broken. You are an inspiration to us all.
Some of your projects make me emotional and this one was at the peak of them - 10:38 - This statement!
I don't usually say stuff like this from people I don't personally know, but you seem to be a wonderful human being. Thank you for your effort in making the world a better place!!!!
Great build!! Love both these messages, "Be more kind.' "Imagine an world where things are repaired one more time than they are broken.' The world needs more Laura.
As a local resident, I have to say that the area attracts party people. This is what it looks like after a nice weekend: garbage everywhere.
We only loose against them if we stop trying to get things right.
Die Party- und Eventszene mal wieder.
Nothing wrong with partying or party people. It's just some bad individuals that ruin it.
That isn’t “party people”. That is ppl with no respect who think it is fun to wreck things. It being “famous” locally wouldn’t help. Some ppl just wanna destroy things coz they are little souled punks
I miss living in Japan🇯🇵. Hardly no garbage/theft/vandalism 😞
Dear Laura, thank you so much to take care of this Rhine-Bench. Cologne is my city even if i live actually in Italy, but you as me know that in Cologne we are very "Lokalpatrioten". I wish long life and many visitors to that lovely bench! Greetings from Italy.
Thank you Laura.
Just the tonic I needed after a day of the people of the world grinding me down.
Your cheer and optimism, not to mention the cool tunes were just what I needed.
More power to you, beautiful Lady!
I hope Köln realizes how lucky she(Köln) is !
"Imagine a world where things are repaired one more time than they are broken." This is awesome and should be the preview for this video. what an inspiration. Keep making! (oh and a bottle opener installed on the side of the seat (not just using the steel) would be a way to help make sure it's even more appreciated. Did you anchor it on that spot or did you leave it movable?

It’s was a beautiful repair the first time around, such mindless vandalism. Your amazing gesture speaks volumes and to repair it again so lovely 🥰
One of the things that impresses me about Laura (in addition to her kindness!) is her mastery of the grinder. Her cuts are so straight and smooth. Although there are so many creative and wonderful things in these videos, this one “simple” skill blows me away every time.
"Imagine a world where things are repaired one more time than they are broken." Much respect!
Keep at it. Maybe full steel next time.🤞
Where I grew up there were wooden benches all along footpaths all over town and they were built like tanks. That was 40 years ago and I wouldn't be surprised to go back to find them still there (though probably replaced by now).
These animals will eather burn them or throw them in the River or cut them up for the scrap metal money
Reinforced steel. To keep so heavy that no one will gonna move it.
Through the Darkness the thing about making things a challenge is that people love a challenge.
Imagine being in such a dark place that wrecking a bench is the only way to express your power in this world. Pity them.

Someone smashed all the toilets in the public bathroom at a park near me. Same thing. I feel sad for them.
Haste schön gemacht Laura. Danke Dir. Solche Menschen wie Dich sollte es öfters geben. Du bist sehr inspirierend.
Es hat einen großen Sinn den Menschen zu zeigen, dass es auch anders geht. Danke für das Video ❤️
Just imagine a world with so many more Lauras fixing what's broken than those poor fellows that think there's high fun in destroying. Today, madam, you are my one and only hero.
You have way more optimism than I, Laura! It’s this kind of mindless vandalism that makes me dislike the general public. I’m glad you and your positive mental attitude are in the world to combat my cynicism! 👍🏼
You didn't just repair the bench, but created a different design. I so enjoy your videos, thank you
"be more kind" ... hope at least 1 person takes that to heart when sitting on your bench :)

It was kind to repair the bench. It looks great. Only It should be " Be kinder" to be grammatically correct.

Damn. The idea of rebuilding this bench to this level is beautiful and seeing you reach out to fellow people with usable art just makes me happy. They way this came together and the way that it looks is quality furniture made for people who deserve it, which is everyone. These are the kinds of installations that make people proud of their home cities and towns. It is an inspiration to continue this playing about by making beautiful works that people can use. I love it.
I'm a lil drunk, so chill on the hate, okay?
How is it that a video about a broken bench got us all so inspired to repair? To care about what could be trash?
I've followed you for a few years now. But this got to be my favorite project. Excellently executed, with a profound meaning and sentent.

You are a Inspiration, Laura! With so many vandalising public equipmente if we have one person on each neighborhood repairing them, definitely the world gonna be better.
love the message ❤️
They've started raising walls around the world now
Like hackles raised upon a cornered cat
On the borders, in our heads
Between things that can and can't be said
We've stopped talking to each other
And there's something wrong with that
So before you go out searching
Don't decide what you will find
Be more kind, my friends
Try to be more kind

I loved the first video, love this one even more. It speaks volumes about the person you want to be, and the energy you put back into the world. The bench ended up being even more beautiful and functional (love the small table you added in). Even more importantly, doing the right thing should always win over doing the wrong thing, I love your determination to make that happen. Thank you for an inspiring video. WELL DONE!!
Nicely said Derek❤
Das ich deinen Kanal dieses Jahr gefunden habe, ist eine echte Bereicherung! Du bist echt inspirierend!
What a wonderful gesture Laura. I cannot understand the psyche of people that destroy things and enjoy it? This bench is even better than the first one and I hope it stays that way. Thank YOU for being kind. x
I’m sorry this happened please don’t let hurt you as the person who did this has more hurt and anger in them to do this so let your light shine and remake it maybe to show anger can never win. I love your spirit Laura 🇨🇦🌈
Hurt people hurt furniture.
When cleaning rusty steel, i prefer to use a wirebrush on an angle grinder rather than abrasives. It cleans quite well, but you can still see the steel being bitten by rust, which gives it character ... It feel like the steel is screaming "proud to be recycled !" Rather than be cleaned and look like it's brand new
Dog walking brings profound wisdom. Yoda and Smudo have provided the needed guidance. I bow to you, Master Maker Laura. May the force be with you.

That philosophy, imagine a world where things get repaired one more time than they get broken, is wonderful. It's one reason I watch you and The Post Apocalyptic Inventor.
SO GREAT that your doing this project (again)!!! I loved this video, your energy is amazing. Got tears in my eyes both from your quote, and from the lovely views of Cologne! Missing my home town, hope to finally see the bench in action during my next visit!
Maybe stamp into the metal 'Don't be a jerk - again !' Kudos Laura, beautifully done.

If each one of us repaired something broken in their city, the world would be perfect
I'm so glad you fixed it again, I hope no one tries to break it again. I see you made it perhaps a bit more robust this time.... It's sad that people feel the need to be destructive for no good reason.

I wonder what the people that did this would think if we walked into their homes and started breaking their stuff?
Thank you for being someone that builds things rather than tearing them down Laura. If everyone took this kind of attitude to their surroundings the world would be a happier place. Keep doing what you're doing!
Such people dont know the value of work as they have never done anything by themselves. They received everything for free, from parents, from society, they are just useles bunch of loosers.
Is it possible to have it attached to the concrete ground it’s on with a bracket or something so it doesn’t get moved and destroyed ?
You would need a permit to do so.

That bench is such an eyecatcher...I fear it will find a 'new owner' pretty quickly. But here's to hope and not letting the world get us down, eh?

You are so calm and good natured Laura. I’m so upset that vandals destroyed your bench. Makes me mad 🤬

What a profound statement. Love it. Imagine a world where things are repaired one more time than they are broken.
It was likely some young people that broke it, no reason... Just because they can. This is why a lot of park benches are overbuilt so they are nearly indestructible. Also side note the bench isn't bolted or cemented down, anyone could easily steal it
Sadly I'm expecting it to end up in the river at some point
