The key to a good sound is having oscillators that have to warm up to get into tune, and then they they go back out of tune for that boards of Canada kind of thing,
Akai Dan System 8 has a condition setting that is supposed to do that. I just detune one oscillator slightly and maybe modulate the pitch slightly with an LFO, gives it that ‘tape warble’ effect.
Disappointing. I thought this was going to be a comparison of current market synths resting on a table, whilst the angle of the table top is moved incrementally through 0-90 degrees.
