I just was getting ready to post the same comment.i Loved this podcast probably listen to it more then once .But maybe next time dave can interview mark😂
I guess Mark is really used to asking more than answering after hosting so many episodes of his own podcast. It would be funny if Dave would go to supertraining to interview Mark on his podcast lol.
Dave, you'll never see this, but my sister was born with epilepsy and intellectual disabilities. Hearing you talk about you wonderful son really struck me. I remember seeing the passing off of the children by other families as I grew up. It takes a special person to weather the storms you may have, but an even greater person to adopt. That's love. God bless you and your family
This was absolutely classic. I didn't want it to end. I really hope you guys do it again sometime. Thank you again for all you do. We all relate to training so much its insane. ☘️💪
There are some great insights in this talk. One thing that really stood out was Dave giving the somewhat contrarian opinion that he values _quantity_ of time above "quality time" (1:50:14). First, he admits that if he believed in "quality time" he would just use it as an excuse to not be there when he should. Second, because one of his sons has Asberger's Syndrome and rarely talks, it is necessary for Dave to be around as much as possible just so he can increase the odds that he will experience those quality moments. This is a good analogy for strength training too: if you're always waiting for the perfect conditions and perfect moment to train then you'll just make excuses and will probably never go to the gym. But if you consistently build it into your habits to go to the gym, even on days that feel far from perfect, you will eventually line up with those perfect conditions on the perfect day. Just one of many gems dropped in this interview. 💪 X 1000
Thanks for this video. Dave, you and Mark Bell are 2 of my heroes in lifting. So cool to see you in the same video. Much love from Sacramento,CA!!! Thanks for all you do.
Wow , one the greatest podcasts I’ve ever heard, real men in the trenches talking about what that means which is being a husband, father , and provider. Thank you both 🙏🏽
From the first couple minutes something just felt different about this podcast. Cant put my finger on it but it's super good!!! Wow, to see Mark honor Dave like that, a part of where I am today is because of you and now I'm teaching ppl.🔥🔥😭. These guys r forerunners.
Great table talk which led to a couple of lightbulb moment for me with regards to how I can help up and coming athletes who maybe can’t afford coaching. Thanks guys 👊
Andrew comment about Louie speaking his own language is so true. I remember reading his articles a decade ago in my early 20s and being confused as fuck. Its only just now starting to make sense lol. I imagine its like talking physics with Einstein.
If we could get one ep with Dave, Jim Wendler, Mark Bell, and Ed Coan, it would be the best strength podcast ever. Add Louie Simmons to that mix, legendary.
Dave man excellent table talk Smelly Bell is a cool dude and his boy Silent Mike that used to train with him real talk thank you for sharing such sensitive info it will and does help many others and as Mark said you are an inspiration & you are making a difference keep on keeping on brother!! Ps best wishes to your son to you & your family much love and respect!!👏👌👍💪😎
My problem is I am pretty shy with strangers. I don't like to bother people in the gym. I need to be more forward in asking for advice. I just feel like people in the gym are more stand offish now.
Dave has SO MUCH wisdom, man. It’s nice to hear him and try absorb some of what he has to say. Growing up without a father figure, it’s guys like Dave that can really teach you something
I drop a milkshake as a kid in my dads car, all over he's leather seats and few years later I cost him £1000 on a phone bill and to this day I think he's still more piss over the milkshake 😂🤣😂😭
Check out Mark Bell’s Power Project if you haven’t already!

Absolutely loved this one. Its great hearing about training, but also great hearing Dave's perspective on life in general.
That part where Mark starts talking about rehearsing on the toilet lol....that’s definitely me

Some good guys right there...on the job as well.
One of the best talks by far.
Great interview - so much respect for Dave..

lol! After talking with JL a few hours prior, it seemed like you had to be made of something different to decode Louie's language.
If we could get one ep with Dave, Jim Wendler, Mark Bell, and Ed Coan, it would be the best strength podcast ever. Add Louie Simmons to that mix, legendary.
So much knowledge In every single one of these podcasts. Great listen while I'm facing down a pizza for my next weight goal
I don't get those 45 minutes if I don't invest those 20 hours has so many applications, especially in powerlifting.
What's more effective / ideal?
Training 4 days a week: Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat?
Or
Training 4 days a week: Mon, Tue, Thurs, Fri?

Two GOATS
We need a counter for how many times Dave called Mark "little fucker".
Great fucking podcast, got real, real quick
Is Dave referring to a real Boxer or a dog boxer in the basement at the first west side gym lol
well, that two and a half hours flew by !
Awesome!
i wonder what julius could bench,,,,,in a shirt🤔
CHEERS BROTHERS💪💪
If Louie Simmons is the Yoda of powerlifting, Dave Tate must be Obi-wan...from Ohio
I drop a milkshake as a kid in my dads car, all over he's leather seats and few years later I cost him £1000 on a phone bill and to this day I think he's still more piss over the milkshake 😂🤣😂😭
I don't think Mark understands the Don't cry over spilled milk thing.
dave is really a great man🦾
