FFC is a pervert who tried to kiss the extras on the set of this movie... he's a creep
It's insane to me that fucking FRANIS FORD COPPOLA of all people can't get his movie distributed, but a prequel to the Lion King remake no one liked does?? Make it make sense. No I don't want another damn "live action" Disney remake, no I don't want another damn marvel movie. Give me Megalopolis!!!
That is a good fucking point. lol
With total respect it makes perfect sense. A lion king remake would and did make a billion dollars. Megalopolis isn’t
@@larryhader5695 True, it makes sense (i.e. "Cents"), but unfortunately, not in a good way.
Because true cinema isn’t really respected anymore sadly. It’s far more about profit than quality film making
The film isn't WOKE enough for the distributors (hollyweird) to put it out.
Given Coppola's filmography as a filmmaker, Megalopolis may be the biggest risk worth taking, even if it took over a decade to finally get a theatrical release. I'd be willing to watch this in a heartbeat.
Francis Ford Coppola has always been a Risk Taker, Never Gave Up on his Projects
Studio heads aren't stupid. This movie will lose money.
Look at Bladerunner 2047. That movie was critically acclaimed and had stacked collaborators both behind and in front of the camera. Still lost quite a lot of money.
Reactions to this film have been far more varied.
@@mrebear9758 Doesn't matter. People will watch it for 2 reasons: the stellar cast and it's Coppola's LAST film and he spent his own goddam money making it. He said "fuck you" to the studios for 60 years. Why would he change now? Let him cook.
@necromaya It does matter. Coppola's only secured a distribution agreement in France. People may be keen to see it, but if studios aren't willing to distribute it, viewers won't have the opportunity to see it in cinemas. And Coppola will lose much of the $120 million he personally invested to finance the film.
It turns out "telling studios "fuck you" for 60 years" may make them reticent to help him by distributing the movie.
@@mrebear9758 You're behind the times. He's gotten most of Europe locked in for distribution. He'll get US theaters, Just be patient. This isn't his first rodeo.
I hope it gets a wide theatrical release instead of going straight to streaming
I don’t see how this goes to streaming with these visuals
No way. This will be in imax theatres most likely due to the visuals and Coppola is too big a name and way too strong a cast
@@patrickn8355 Then why Scorsese didn't get a theatrical studio to make The Irishman?
Apparently, studios those days prefer betting on a movie like Madame Web 😂

Hollywood needs the old-school titans more than ever
I agree 💯
Sad But True,
All the Old-school Masters
( Coppola, Lucas,Scorsese, Spielberg) are all nearing
retirement.
absolutely!
FFC is a pervert who tried to kiss the extras on the set of this movie... he's a creep
as long as Francis is happy with what he creates it kinda doesnt matter if it "flops". He's earned the right to do what he wants to this point and it looks interesting to me for me to want to watch it...depending on the run time lol
Over 2 hours. Still within reason. He said he might do a double bluray though. There's also going to be a documentary by Mike Figgis, a graphic novel, and a Film Book on it. Start saving money now. 😻😻

I hope this movie gets released in theaters.

As an ardent fan of Apocalypse Now and the Godfather I am really looking forward to watch this movie.
An iconic masterpiece!
Loved learning about Coppola's Megalopolis journey! 🎬👏

Something I noticed that was a bit funny:
There was another film that was in production hell: it was Terry Gillam’s adaptation of Don Quixote. They made a documentary of the making of that film. However, everything failed in the end and the film ended up being more of an explanation of how things went wrong. Instead of a Making-of film, it was released independently. The film is called Lost in La Mancha, released in 2002.
Then, in 2018, Terry finally finished and released his long awaited Don Quixote adaptation. The following year, a follow up documentary on the original 2002 documentary was released called He Dreams of Giants.
The reason why I bring this up is that, both the finished product, “The Man who killed Don Quixote” and this new movie, “Megalopolis” also star Adam Driver. Just thought it was a funny coincidence.
Driver has become the thespian-patron saint of old projects finally becoming reality. The movies he did with Ridley Scott both languished for a loooong time as well as Mann's Ferrari biopic.
Driver has participated in a half dozen "passion projects" rhat great directors made because he's a risk taker, and isn't out for just the money or fame. He's a REAL actor in the way Daniel Day-Lewis is. Anything he does is top-notch acting. Just ask Martin Scorsese, Jim Jarmusch, Noah Baumbach and Ridley Scott.
This is going to be the film of the year. I can't wait.

Francis Ford Coppola and Adam Driver?! YES! 😀

Megalopolis Let's go! 👍
Everyone needs to watch this. ❤️

Shia & Adam will make this the greatest film
The is one of the most original block busters we will get in a while. This is the kind of film we want to see, not another Disney/marvel/star wars trash film. Please give us this movie.
What interesting facts. 🎉
I was sold when I heard the kindest of the Cannes reviews calling it (and I'm paraphrasing here) "the most batshit crazy" thing the reviewer has seen LOL😂👌I'm so tired of the production line, soulless, major franchise without any truly original ideas content that now saturates cinemas and streaming platforms. I'm truly excited for FFC's passion project and just hope I'll get to see it on the big screen here in NZ 🙏 🙏🙏
I got to work on this movie as an extra. I was one of Claudio's followers Shia LaBeouf character
He looked like he was having a ball in that toga.
Did you get kissed by Francis? New York Times article said he was being creepy on set. If you're not a chick you're probably in the clear
@@qcrew2938 no🤨
@@qcrew2938 The 'article' was originally from the SAME reporter that said the production was chaotic, and Adam Driver came out and refuted it. I don't believe a word of it. Not one person has made a complaint. FFC has a sterling reputation.
Deadpool: "Francis!!!"
It looks incredible.
I think it has the potential to be really good. Why are people already putting it down? What's wrong with people and being so pessimistic all the time?
People are silly. I don’t care about any studios or critics say. Francis is the best

I am very much looking forward to Megalopolis. I've been tracking it from before the start of production and worried it wouldn't find a distributor. I hope it comes to North Carolina.!

Could be his greatest film since Dracula
I LOVED that film.

Looks like it will be a great movie
I cant waittt
I'm in this film.........and looking forward 2 it.
He's worked on this for 40 years.
2 years working, 38 years procrastinating.
If this is anything like Bladerunner 2049 I'm going to see it.
There are 2 scenes that were inspired by the first Bladerunner. You'll know them when you see them.
Here we go again Another Sci-Fi Epic!
It's not really typical scifi. There is nothing out there like this. It's going to be a gamechanger.

I don't care WHAT kind of crappy review this gets, I'm still going to see it on OPENING DAY.

yes
It's about time that 1920s Empire United States Americana mixes with 2020s United States Revival of Ancient Italian Roman Republic / Imperial Fashion. Thank God and Jove.
its a personal art. not a commercial art. idiocracy didnt sell. so as megalopolis. but maybe will sell cos people today interested in intelligent social science film like idiocracy.

I always worry when a director calls a film ‘a passion project’……..
Maybe, but Ferrari, House of Gucci, Last Duel, White Noise, Silence, and Don Quixote were all passion projects and they were good even though not commercial.
@@necromaya mostly featuring Adam Driver…..lol ☺️
@@PassiveAgressive319 Exactly. That's what he does. Still good films. Did you not notice other people here give him props for being their guy to finish these kinds of projects? He cares more about the ART, than the money.
FFC is a pervert who tried to kiss the extras on the set of this movie... he's a creep
❤i am in..
There’s good money in poo-pooing Great Art.
Doesn’t change the fact that this is a consummate work from one of history’s greatest Masterful artists of cinema. I’ll be there in a theatre gathered with Great friends, as it was meant to be seen.
Whenever a director says they've been working on a film for decades, it usually bombs, they just want to make you feel bad about critizicing it. Look at Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon... It has been cooking in his mind for 30 years.

It's gonna be BASED
Can you do a video of failed live action animated pilots
This has nothing to do with the Anime movie.
Capitalists are mad at a film critiquing it. Hmmm.
Have faith this to be a masterpiece and a game changer, the best movie of this poor, decaying decade so far!🤩🙏 because otherwise, the movie industry, the whole western culture is gonna die in horrible perverse pain of the gutless, brainless insanity and mediocrity.

Hello good morning 😮😮😮😮😮
The only megalopolis I’ll watch is the anime version. Nailed it!
What anime version are you talkin' about?
@@themascotwizard5267I only knew of the Metropolis (メトロポリス, Metoroporisu) 2001 film.
*EDIT
My spouse just showed me the DVD cover of... "Doomed Megalopolis", so that anime exists as well. I need to see it though.
This isn''t based on the Anime.
@@necromaya sorry I was drunk and thinking of metropolis
What do you call a Frenchman wearing sandals? Phillipe Phillope
Not funny whatsoever
You need to stop spamming mr unfunny man .
Yeah, go get a job and get a better life than you do right now.
@Reaperguy67 he's still spamming them lame jokes on latest two videos
Cue attention seekers in 3 2 1....
I'll tell you what America if it's got me going back to the movie theaters munching on popcorn add having a good old time, then I'm happy but if it's some bull crap agenda, get it out of here. 2024 Francis Ford Coppola has a movie coming out, I was born in 88? Don't you think it's awesome that I'm able to write this?
Let's make a promise to ourselves to go to the movies and spoil the kids and have a good old time 🌹♋🙂🇺🇸🔥🙏🥊❤️🌞😘
Yes, I want it in the united states
I have a feeling this film is going to fail despite its great casting. It's deep rooted in old themes and its Roman inspired art direction may not work well with a futuristic sci-fi setting.
TOP 10 Ugliest Robots
I’ll pass mainly because of the cast
I hope Francis proves the nay-sayers wrong one more time.
It's gonna be biggest flop of year ......
As to points 6 & 5 I’m defending the master of cinema - loser wanna be’s in the ‘Virtual production’ design world wanted to spend his money doing a virtual design. He as director has his own vision & prefers ‘practical’ so these brats left because they couldn’t spend his money on their toys. Point 5 - executives in La la land have been raised on red bull & McDonalds just ask Jonathan Nolan Nolan’s little brother & another genius & I quote - Hollywood executives have such contempt for audiences so they spoon feed them mind numbing Marvel trash. & we are expected to take their opinions as gospel. Let’s get serious. No critic in the press ever made a film let alone something to be proud of . Coppola has made more sacrifices than Jesus H on rubber crutches so leave the genius alone. He’s earned his spot in greatness so many times it can’t be counted.
freak
YES, I love FFC he is the Godfather. He believes in his vision and he is willing to bet the ranch on it. He is really living life not playing it safe. He is a junkie for the action. I hope there will be a documentary about the making of this film. FFC is right up there with Orson Wells he had to go his own way as well.
You're in luck. Mike Figgis filmed a documentary on the filming, and there will be a GRAPHIC novel that comes out as well.
man i cannot wait for giancarlo to retire hes just SO overused now in absolutely everything.
IS this the remake of 1927 film?
No, the 1927 film is called "metropolis"
No, that was about humanity vs industrialization.
This movie looks like crap. It'll win awards from all the typical sycophants but I bet it bombs commercially.
Commercial value only show its commercial value. People throw their money at crappy stuff all the time.
What do you care? Plenty of folks will want to see it just for the cast and because it's FFC. Get over it. What have YOU filmed?
