@Mr. Fufu Cudlypoops I think both season 1 and 2 have a similar thing with the first half and second half. The Foggy vs Matt thing was pretty sad, but I don't know if it needed to be dragged out that much, especially for episodes that are an HOUR long. You could have better slower moments than this. The nurse was my second-least favorite slow part of Season 1, but even that episode picked up with the famed fight that got more people into the show in the first place. Even that slow part was at least used to help set up a good character.
It was good, I had problems with Daredevil having full on conversations with imaginary people, and Sameed’s plot was just kind of a distraction, but it was a fitting end to a great series overall.

That's weird, I thought the characters in Overlord were the things that carried the film. I cared about what was going to happen to most of them. I also liked that it stayed a war film with a little zombie horror sprinkled in. I honestly thought you would really dig this film. Maybe it was marketed wrong.
Only thing i disliked was how comical the supersoldiers were. They were terrifying ( Boyce sneaking in was scary af ) until the German commander injected himself and gave that smile. The tone seemed to lighten for me
marketing was definitely NOT a problem. how would you market this movie? it is not a war film for sure, and it is not a zombie movie entirely. it was more of a mindless entertainment movie. you have your cliche characters: the really hardened soldier, the loud mouth, the guy who doesn't want to be in the war and it just was not real enough to be a full-fledged war movie but neither was it a full zombie movie. it was kind of in between. if you approach it without the intention of a serious review, then yeah, it is a mostly fine and entertaining flick. I still think it should have committed to one side of its premise.
I can understand Chris' feelings on a historical or a portrayal movie being inaccurate. Movies like Bohemian Rhapsody may be good but it just feels wrong when you know the information being shown is wrong.
Corrupted Archangel while I respect everyone has their opinions, I have to disagree about this film feeling wrong. I think this was more authentic even with the poetic licenses they took by bringing several things forward in time and changing Freddie’s look when We Will Rock You was recorded. But to me these “wrong” things, while there and noted, just didn’t matter. This is becoming evident since the negative reviews are not hurting the films performance. People are reading the complaints and saying who the hell cares and focusing on the almost universal agreement that it is a great time at the movies, and can be for families. Which ultimately is why people buy tickets! I believe Freddie would love that about the film.
@@markusbisma5015 But still that personality affects the entire story, the fact that he told the band that he was AIDS after the Live Aid concert instead of before the Live Aid concert was a bit bothering. It's based on a true story anyways as what the marketing depicts so of course people expect it to be atleast true to the actual event like you expect Lord of The Rings to be faithful enough to the source material
I'm surprised you think Overlord has poor characterization. Most of the main characters have satisfying arcs and well developed relationships. Also, I love the fact that the movie took the time to set up the zombie aspect and drag out the tension (it also keeps it focused on the characters so that, when things get absurd, we still care about them). It's in my top 3 films of this year.
Just seen it and I agree, the part where Boise was first in the church put me on edge the whole way through and I rooted for the character, not sure what he missed on that one
I loved the “Karen” episode of Daredevil. It was absolutely tragic and beautifully done. I honestly thought it was one of the best episodes of Daredevil and deserves an Emmy nomination!
B for Briana I was binge watching and I didn’t mind that episode. I really like it. I think Chris also undersold the fact that it wasn’t just a flashback episode. It actually ended with a Daredevil-present day fight scene.
yeah having that and then the church scene with bullseye (which is all very obviously referencing her comic book death) makes you worry so much for her which is great (since it's not uncommon to kind of solve the mystery behind a character right before killing them off).
Wish Daredevil Season 3 got an in-depth review cuz you did 'em great for the last 2, but I understand with the Defy scandal why it's as short as it is. If u see this Chris, could u at least give a chunky comment about what u thought about the other new characters in Joanne Whalley as Sister Maggie and Jay Ali as Rahul "Ray" Nadeem? Love ur reviews!
I liked the movie but the best parts were really just the song recreations. It is a movie you have to see at the theater in full surround sound to get the best out of it though.
@Tek rekts agreed! I saw it in all the formats, and it IMAX it was stunning and the bass beats in Prime was absolutely incredible. But the best was in screen X, where they show dedicated and unique footage on the side of the theater walls. It is not simply the movie wrapped around the theater, it is dedicated footage for this format that was filmed when the movie was filmed so at times when you can't see Rodger and deacon, like in a studio recording, you'll see one in your left peripheral vision in one in your right. It's not through the whole film, just will turn on or fade on during important moments, and it really is incredible, the Wembley scene was like something I've never seen before in my life! People were encouraged in the actual theater to go down in front of the screen and participate as part of the crowd and it's as close to being at the Live Aid concert as anybody ever could be. That is one of the things that I said going forward every big movie should be shot in this format, not some kind of gimmick like some of their projection formats can seem. It's really added another dimension to the movie, no pun intended. And used skillfully, it really does highlight the concert and Nightclub scenes in a great way, and even as simple as when he was sitting on the bench waiting for the bus, you see it coming up to your right before it appears on the movie screen and then disappearing to the left. If you live near one, try to see Bohemian Rhapsody while it is still playing, since it does require additional and dedicated footage to be in screen acts, maybe showing it only once a day on weekends now that it's near the end of its theatrical run. There's no way to recreate this at home!
Hey Chris! Thank you for doing a review of Bohemian Rhapsody (even though you didn’t love it as much as me :p). Looking forward to your review of The Haunting of Hill House, I’m 9 episodes in and am OBSESSED!!
I find it weird it is so successful. I don't see what's so great about it. The first five episodes were mediocre at best. The storytelling isn't the best I've seen. I very much prefer "The Sinner". This was a sick near perfect show.
Everyone’s praising this so much... I love horror and good scares but... this just has too much of the same repetitive scares and it’s kinda boring(story wise)
Thanks for the reviews regardless man! We all know how crazy it is for you right now and we appreciate you taking the time to at least give us quicker reviews of all the new films.
Mandy is one of the greatest movies I've seen this year! The visuals, the directing, Nic Cage; this is a horror/revenge/grindhouse/arthouse movie you should definitely not miss. I'm so glad I own it on blu-ray!
You are amazing Chris! We hope that you get the money you are owed and that everything works out as best as possible for you. The prospect of you not getting a cent for the Halloween videos you and your wife and your awesome guests spent so much time and put so much love into is criminal. We're glad you can re-monetize your videos. We totally understand that you're busy right now.Thank you for still taking the time to watch and review all of these movies and shows on top of everything else. Your Belgian fans Julie and Stijn
I honestly really enjoyed Overlord, 9/10. I liked that it took itself seriously and the intro was great. The action felt punchy and heavy, the gun sound effects were solid. I agree about the zombie not being the center of the movie but I almost enjoyed that it didn’t become a super zombie flick, but rather a war mission that has complications
Alex Hayes Very adrenaline driving war movie where troopers need to accomplish an objective. The zombies were just an extra obstacle, not the main antagonist. The real antagonist was the war/Third Reich itself.
Finally a good quick review on Bohemian Rapsody I felt exactly the same! There was nothing that we didnt really know about Queen its a very safe movie. Not much Character bonding either to be honest
Same, even I felt that Bohemian Rhapsody was just safe. It also didn't really make the best out of the lead actors' splendid performances. Consider biopics like The Imitation Game or even The Wolf of Wall Street, where the protagonists were barely familiar to a large crowd. But the makers of those films actually got creative and made such memorable characters, like I felt so involved and empathetic watching Alan Turing going through the difficulties he had to go through as a gay person, in spite of that not being the film's sole focus. The trailer for BR literally says 'The only thing more extraordinary than their music is his story', referring to Freddie, and they begin the movie with Freddie's family, Freddie's love and the movie is evidently focused more on him than the band itself, which only means they could have as well given us more glimpses from his life and explored his character in more depth. I don't know, I really love Queen and Freddie Mercury and maybe that's why I was expecting too much, but I think Bohemian Rhapsody had a lot of scope than what it does.
Vinutna Tummala I have to disagree with you about the actor’s performances being under played. I think Rami Malek did a fantastic job of showing Freddie’s story and showing us a real person behind the charismatic stage performer. The public didn’t ever see his loneliness, his sadness at Mary’s almost betrayal by labeling him gay instead of accepting his own words. I think that’s why Love of My Life starts out with “love of my life you hurt me.” I think Rami’s sadness when Mary walked away was brilliant and quite memorable. I mean every documentary talks about how Freddie was very shy when out of the spotlight. I also think the film did a great job of showing that loneliness and insecurity and even some self loathing which was antithesis to what we, as Queen fans, saw. Understanding that is what made the film so very special to me. We really got “his story” not the unrealistic media portrayals of him. IMHO
Imitation Game is a gross representation of the real Turing. He was friendly and a team player. They portrayed him as a-hole introvert genius dislike by co-worker which in my opinion unnecessary
Regarding Mandy, it's good to see Panos Cosmatos get some recognition but this film is not as good as his previous one Beyond The Black Rainbow (2010), which has all the same qualities but is more effective I think. My biggest problem with this new one is that Cosmatos does not appear to be a good action director, so all the direction and editing of the action parts fell completely flat for me (its actually nowhere near as gory as everyone is saying) and that accounted for a much larger portion of this film. Also he's clearly re-used a lot of the ideas from BTBR (neurotic paranoid villain, enigmatic girl with long black hair, unexplained daggers, drug trip etc) so this is almost a re-boot. If you liked this then definitely check out BTBR, which also has an amazing soundtrack made a member of Stoner Rock band Black Mountain.
Rami and the remainder band mates of queen did explain why the inaccuracies in bohemian rhapsody cause they’re trying to fit everything in a two hour film and they want to tell a story in a movie kind of way not a documentary and this is how the band wants Freddie to be portrayed. But overall love your reviews and appreciate your opinions either way, just do the best you can and don’t apologise. That’s all you can do is the best u can. Good luck with everything 😊
Emily Lambourne I know why they did it, I just don’t necessarily agree with the choice of the film being so sanitized. I thought it would have benefited a lot from an R rating, but that means less money so I see why it’s PG-13 I guess. Plus I thought the plot was kinda all over the place too. I kind of view it in the same light as Darkest Hour from last year; its a film I can watch to admire the lead’s immaculate performance, and not much else in my opinion. Also the Live Aid finale was cool too, even though they skipped 2 of the songs 🙃
It's a shame, since the film doesn't really do any of the band any favours and is pretty rushed. Maybe they'll do a one-season TV biopic one day, that could give them the time to cover things more cohesively and flesh things out more.
It has very little to do with trying to fit into a 2 hour movie and had way more to do with the remaining band members wanting a 2 hour puff piece where they could basically dictate/retcon their own history to downplay any actual drama or tension, minimize Freddie Mercury and his "lifestyle" and generally pander to the most conservative segment of their fan base and they did it knowing full well that in today's social/political climate a lot of those fans would welcome the sanitized, mostly fictional and completely devoid of conflict version of events with open arms
"The first half of Mandy is slow." Gee it's almost like it was designed to be that way. The first half is focused on building the relationship between Red and Mandy and marking the presence of the Children of the New Dawn so that the amazing second half can have real weight to it and be even more amazing and legitimately poignant. Calling a film slow as a criticism shows ignorance to the design of the picture and what the director has in mind for the substance within it. Had all of Mandy be fast paced and crazy like the second half, it would wear down on the viewer as having no substance behind it.
Real Human Bean also the lens flare from nothing really starts in the second half, after cage gets hit by the corruption on the blade then the super acid.
I am a fan of slow cinema (Andrei Tarkovsky, Yasujiro Ozu, Hou Hsiao-Hsien, Tsai Ming-Liang, Celine Sciamma, Abbas Kiarostami, Theo Angelopoulos, Apichatpong Weerasethkul just to show that I know my stuff) And even then, the first half of Mandy is just way too slow. I fell asleep it was so slow and i’ve never fallen asleep on any of the films by any of the directors mentioned above. That it was intentional, yeah, okay but it could’ve been just a bit tighter or a bit more interesting with it’s use of slowness. Instead of really building up towards the insanity, it felt like it was just dragging it’s feet.
A movie can be slow paced and not feel slow due to what’s going on still being engaging and interesting. Chris has praised movies in the past for their slow pacing when it had those qualities, like the lighthouse or once upon a time in Hollywood. So the fact that he said a movie was slow as a criticism means it was slow paced but didn’t have enough interesting or engaging things to make it enjoyable. He showed no ignorance to the design of the picture.
Mandy's director has shown to enjoy slow for slowness' sake, his stuff feels so empty. He wants to be Kubrick without understanding why Kubrick was so dope.
Cinematic Top 10 I respect your opinion but I have to disagree. I think Drew Goddard knew exactly where every character was going to end up. I also think the Chris Hemsworth storyline worked extremely well. When he showed up at the El Royale it really felt like, “Oh Shit he is here”.
Thanks a lot for talking about Bad Times at the El Royale! It's easily one of the best films of the year. Kinda disappointed with your grade though. Atleast an A-. But still thanks for talking about it.
Brilliant I don't see how literally any of the characters and The Grinch could not terrify children. I watched it recently with my nephew. How it didn't terrify him I will never understand. It is downright creepy and disturbing throughout especially for a kid's film.
I love how they recreated the live performances but hated how they lied about literally everything to do with Queen’s backstory. They never broke up for example, they took a break because they were tired of touring. In the film, they depicted them having a huge argument and then not speaking for awhile which led to their “breakup”. They also portrayed Freddie as selfish and someone who only cared about himself when he wasn’t like that in real life.
You know what 'Bohemian Rhapsody' did? It honored Freddie by paying him tribute: it praised his genius and passion while humanizing him without making a tragedy out of his life. He was TRIUMPHANT! His status as an icon will always outshine the pathetic virus that led to the inevitable end every human faces. The movie also ensured Freddie's personal life remained largely private, exactly as he would have wished. It's no one's right to divulge the details of another's life, and it's no one's business to know. It's exploitative and disrespectful. 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is astounding in that it pays tribute to the legacy of Queen by creating the state of experience of living inside the emotion and power of Queen's music for two hours! When 'Who Wants to Live Forever' plays, you're suddenly living inside of that song. 'Bohemian Rhapsody' does exactly what a Queen movie should do; it makes you feel the way Queen does.
Agree on the main point but still... Atrocious dialogue, clunky pacing and the changes in the story only made it more cliched and standard instead of something worthy of a legend.
Super J-star I completely disagree. As Troy said the movie was a celebration and the way they did it insures that the Band’s legacy continues to a new generation. I believe Freddie would have wanted that more than anything since he was all about the music. In addition, the actors did an amazing job of capturing these legends down to the smallest gestures. That is what made it such a great experience.
@@Tarotdog49ergirl I agree on most of it but... Dialogue stills sucks, pacing is still clunky and the changes still only made it a more standard. Yeah...
man.. you're fanboying. I wanted it to be great to, but it wasn't really a biopic, it was more of a reimagining if the queen story, it was just okay. that's it.
It doesn't matter if it's a minute or ten. A Chris Stuckmann review is worth it's weight in gold. Good luck in pursuing your dreams, you deserve all the success in the world.
Finally Chris reviews "MANDY"!!! Disagree on the first act, it works perfectly to make you give a crap about Red & Mandy before the Children Of The New Dawn Cult ruin their idyllic life, it would have been way too much if it was 2 hours of revenge/horror only. Plus Johansson's perfect score drives the films slow burn 1st act, and Panos Cosmatos' gorgeously shot psychedelic, sweet, heartbreaking, funny, revenge action/horror film of the year! Saw it 5 times in cinema as it's playing regularly at midnight screenings here in L.A., Make mine "Mandy", my fave film of 2018 still.
kenchun24 I agree. I really liked the atmosphere, that was built, until they are attacked. The music and cinematography, are my favorite in a very long time. Because of the style, I understand people who are not into it, but it works perfectly for me.
I agree with you on this. The first act was taking it's time to setup characters, setting, and atmosphere in an art-arthouse fashion. I wish there were more dreamlike horror movies like this and Phantasm.
Dude.. thanks for "coming back", hope everything on the youtube stuff gets on the way it was. Success in everything :) And that Fisk moment in this video XDD I really wanted you to impersonate the scapegoat Pointdexter's scene lol
I don't agree with having issues with Rhapsody's timeline, it made the Live Aid concert more important by having his diagnosis come prior to the show. I can understand if hardcore Queen fans have a problem with it though.
It is so great to see your face and hear your voice Chris Stuckman. Many of us have missed you and passionate and knowledgeable analysis. Anyway great to have you back and hope your gaining some ground. I know you have been super busy, but any chance you will be seeing the new Suspiria movie. I know that the release is somewhat limited, but it has been one of the most polarizing and divisive films of 2018, which is why I would love to hear your take. Cheers and happy Thanksgiving to you and Sam.
Even if they were quick reviews, you still were able to tell us the gist of how you felt about them and even set it up for us to still understand why you chose the ratings that you did. Also not a bad idea to do this QMR since there has just been so many movies coming out that seem interesting. Most of these I have yet to see but I do want to see Bad Times, Overlord, and Bohemian Rhapsody! If I had to choose a band I would like to see perform, it would have to be The Beatles. Solo artist would have to be Johnny Cash.
“It really seems like anybody could die. That’s rare for a TV show.” Chris, you seriously need to watch Game of Thrones already! It’s ending next year.
John Samuya it lost the game of thrones vibes when they strayed away from the books, right until season 4 you dont actually care about the white walkers or dragons or any of that bullshit, you care about the game which is significantly better than a generic fantasy..
@@them4licious0ne That is not because of the books, the idea of both books and show was always to end in a big battle between people and white walkers. The show has always be fantasy with political drama.
Definitely not Dendi yeah but it doesn’t still take away the fact that Chris has not yet experienced what we’ve experienced from its first to fourth season.
I have watched two seasons of that show and still can't get into it. And I'm big on films and movies like that. Might try the books to see if they're any better. Not sure how it's such a big thing! But to each their own.

Funny how a great movie has the same name as a decent anime. Overlord.
I absolutely disagree with Chris. I haven't seen it yet, my expectations for Overload are high, can't wait to see it.
@@lonewolfgamingplus379 I just saw it last night and I was smiling for like 80% of the movie lol, it was awesome
Just seen it and I agree, the part where Boise was first in the church put me on edge the whole way through and I rooted for the character, not sure what he missed on that one
I thought Overlord was an incredible movie. One of the best films I’ve seen in years.
I cried
Wish Daredevil Season 3 got an in-depth review cuz you did 'em great for the last 2, but I understand with the Defy scandal why it's as short as it is. If u see this Chris, could u at least give a chunky comment about what u thought about the other new characters in Joanne Whalley as Sister Maggie and Jay Ali as Rahul "Ray" Nadeem? Love ur reviews!
Nadeem was amazing.
Chris slowly turning to OLD MAN LOGAN 😁

Will chris do review for bumblebee spiderman into the spidervesrse and aquaman I am scared now

Bedasubash Tonmoy more like Old Man Chris
Bhomeian Rhapsody was basically a full review lol
nasir casso he sure took his time talking about how he grew up with Queen
I liked the movie but the best parts were really just the song recreations. It is a movie you have to see at the theater in full surround sound to get the best out of it though.
And then he rated it lower than piece of crap movies like Overlord and Mandy.
It's so good right??? I've watch it. And I'm sad because i want more
I find it weird it is so successful. I don't see what's so great about it. The first five episodes were mediocre at best. The storytelling isn't the best I've seen. I very much prefer "The Sinner". This was a sick near perfect show.
It has to be the best original Netflix series yet!
Hope you enjoy the finale. Some people seem to not. I personally thought it was perfect. The show is fantastic.
Everyone’s praising this so much... I love horror and good scares but... this just has too much of the same repetitive scares and it’s kinda boring(story wise)
"I'm Daredevil. Not even God can stop that now. " I got chills! ❄
Yess the QMR are back covering some of the most anticipated reviews from you Chris, I love the old intro being used again haha! Great video!
I love this. Makes uploads a lot easier!

Yeah I agree.
He should do this every month or 2, just save up all the mediocre films for 1 QMR video.
We totally understand that you're busy right now.Thank you for still taking the time to watch and review all of these movies and shows on top of everything else. Your Belgian fans Julie and Stijn
Great reviews Chris. Thanks for taking the time, really appreciated.
Daredevil should’ve gotten an A+. It was flawless for me
Yeah me too.
Same here it was incredible
@David Medina 2000 to me infinity war and daredevil season 3 are the same to me.
Yea it was flawless for literally everyone else. But “I grown up with” Stuckman is somehow the outlier.
@David Medina 2000 I never forgot the snap it is now infamous.

That impression of kingpin was so good
Holy shit I can’t wait for the haunted of hill house review.
I loved the movie
I agree, I enjoyed the concept maybe if they made it 30min longer it could have made the film fantastic but I still loved it
The movie was amazing, good acting good plot and awesome visual effects
Idk why Chris didn't like the characters and said there isn't any "characterization" even though there is
Honestly, one of your best videos. Good luck on everything you're going through.

So happy you posted this, been missing your reviews. Having seen all these films, interesting to hear your review on them. Thanks Chris!
i totally enjoyed Bad Times at El Royale!! I also really enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody.
Thank you so much for putting out new content!
Have you seen Suspiria?
omega3250 Suspiria is my favorite film of the year so far. I honestly can’t tell if Chris would love it or hate it.
It's still on limited release, he's still waiting for a wide release

I really wanted a full Daredevil vid but something is better than nothing. Thanks for all the content keep up the good work.
I appreciate you taking time to review these movies Chris! I know you have a lot going on, keep kicking ass!!🤘
Mid90s?
I really enjoyed Mandy and the colours were amazing
“The haunting of hill house” is truly one the greatest shows I’ve ever seen. It really hit me hard.
lmao not even close. did u watch daredevil? that is arguably the greatest show ever.
Haha! Your impression of Vince’s kingpin was fantastic!
Haha! The QMR intro was such an epic throwback! Bold, sir, bold!😄
Daredevil Season 3 - "A" - Yay!!! - I'm Stuckmannized!!
any spare time you have for us is wonderful =) appreciate everything you do!
Your Back!!! Missed you bro!! Wishing you the best in your school work
"The first half of Mandy is slow."
Gee it's almost like it was designed to be that way.
I am a fan of slow cinema (Andrei Tarkovsky, Yasujiro Ozu, Hou Hsiao-Hsien, Tsai Ming-Liang, Celine Sciamma, Abbas Kiarostami, Theo Angelopoulos, Apichatpong Weerasethkul just to show that I know my stuff)
And even then, the first half of Mandy is just way too slow.
I love Bad Times At The El Royale its so fucking amazing and interesting. In my opinion. Plus I loved the video Chris.
Same, favourite scene was the singing one with the priest, while the woman from 50 Shades was holding the shotgun.
Tooo slooouuu...

Brilliant
I don't see how literally any of the characters and The Grinch could not terrify children. I watched it recently with my nephew. How it didn't terrify him I will never understand. It is downright creepy and disturbing throughout especially for a kid's film.

Gloopin Boopin The movie is a joke
@@eugenekrabs4774 yeah movie is awful
Yeah...
@Dr. Deborah Barr Precisely! I feel that's the reason for the movie! :D
man.. you're fanboying. I wanted it to be great to, but it wasn't really a biopic, it was more of a reimagining if the queen story, it was just okay. that's it.
We understand your time constraints and are happy to see any content you’re still able to make. KEEP IT UP!!!
It doesn't matter if it's a minute or ten. A Chris Stuckmann review is worth it's weight in gold.
Good luck in pursuing your dreams, you deserve all the success in the world.
Young Chris kinda looked like Tom Cruise.

I agree. I really liked the atmosphere, that was built, until they are attacked.
The music and cinematography, are my favorite in a very long time.
Because of the style, I understand people who are not into it, but it works perfectly for me.
maybe edgiest movie I've ever seen. Nic Cage is wild at heart again.
I agree with you on this. The first act was taking it's time to setup characters, setting, and atmosphere in an art-arthouse fashion. I wish there were more dreamlike horror movies like this and Phantasm.
One of the best movies of the decade IMO. Nick Cage needs to stick with this director.

I don't agree with having issues with Rhapsody's timeline, it made the Live Aid concert more important by having his diagnosis come prior to the show. I can understand if hardcore Queen fans have a problem with it though.
Bad times at the El Royale feels better upon 2nd viewing, the slow scenes seem to go way quicker, and there is less frustration for the next scene

Definitely not Dendi u crazy bro cant let the books take away from a great show 2 different worlds
Definitely not Dendi yeah but it doesn’t still take away the fact that Chris has not yet experienced what we’ve experienced from its first to fourth season.
