Having just bought this unit I was looking for information and found your video. I must say that you cleared up many of my queries, and I really enjoyed your presentation. Thanks
You gave an honest review many thanks, to many people don't.
Thank you, I really appreciate that. I try my best to be as fair and transparent as I can with any reviews I do.
Great video, thanks! There are many defining factors which affect the flow of an RO system and I noticed in the comments you said you have hard water so this is the first issue. You could set up a extra sediment filter before the RO just to remove some of the larger particles which would make life easier for the system.
Water pressure is the main factor so you could also install a pressure gauge just before the membrane to see if that's a reason as to why you may not be getting as strong a flow - these systems need a minimum of around 3 BAR / 45 psi to work.
The other issue is the temperature of the water and i'm sure I could see your breath at one point so it must be fairly cold when you were filming this! The membranes are most effective with water that's around 25°C which is of course going to be way off what we get here in the UK but that's another reason why your output will be reduced as the colder it is, the more compact the water molecules are and the harder it is for them to push through the membrane.
Brilliant video, i could not get the plastic caps off and it was driving me nuts, thank you for sharing.
You're welcome, glad it helped!
Thankyou for video great Job, You highlighted all the problems I had with this filter and manual
great video thankyou
Anytime. Hope it helped, if you haven't already please consider subscribing 👍
Same brand I use. Great video friend
Thanks mate. Appreciate it 🙏
Well they do work as i used a Hanna ph/ec/ppm meter to test and got ph of 6.1 ish from original 7.5ph which makes me wonder whats in my water in Scotland..ec/ppm were down to zero so all in in all a very positive result and yes they work well..
Hi James in order to avoid the water waste you can always use the rain water (after boil it) or buy distilled water, just a idea. Good video.
Hey thanks for the tips. I have tried rain water and distilled in the past and felt it was just as much of a hassle in the end. Tap water has always been the best option for me but as my water is hard I thought RO might be a way of helping find the balance.
how did your hose adapter come mine just slides right through and it is too big did you have to buy separately?
What but does the fresh ro water come from
Quick question, I just got this unit today, is this the correct way to set this up??? Or does the water input go into the resin part first
The resin state is always last, after the membrane.
My ró water is coming out in drops tried loads good bit coming out waste end any, idea thanks
Yep that sounds about right. It depends on how much water pressure and how hard the water you have is. Mine generally does a fast drip and lots of waste.
Mine is kinda fast at both
How long does it take to get 57l of ro water? (Roughly)
Thanks
Hey it depends on a couple of factors. How much pressure the water in your house for example is and how hard the water is. I have very hard water so it takes longer to filter. Since I've been using it on average it takes about 5 hours sometimes longer to do a 25L container.
@@MrBrightfryed oh no, I have 19 dGH water. Are more expensive RODI machines more effective for both time and waste water, I really hope so.🤞
Thanks, again!
I think some of the more high end ones filter quicker yes. You can also buy pumps that fit to the units to help too.
@@MrBrightfryed sorry I keep bothering you, I’m gonna subscribe and like 10 vids in thanks. I’m thinking about buying ro water (it’s a fresh water tank) from a local fish shop instead, and I’m wondering if I can store the left over water for if I need to do an emergency water change or if will become unsafe. since it’s stagnant. Sorry again if this is a really stupid question.
Not a problem. Happy to help! Buying is a great alternative. If you have them look into Spotless RO there are lots of these big container units appearing which I've heard nothing but good things about. Unfortunately none close to area but maybe there's one close to you. Nope the water will be fine, I have a 25L container filled and if doing top offs can last week's. 👍
Try to get plastic bit out is impossible very bad design fault, sending it back
I agree. It's something that needs to be addressed.
@@MrBrightfryed i ask the company i got it from and were really helpful so he said use a pair of scissors and it does work a treat :)
Wastage of water is roughly 4 gallons of waste to 1 gallon of pure is what I have heard.
I am lucky my tap water is good quality and soft (TDS 160) so I do not need to use that annoying device, besides the water waste is high so not very environment friendly.
What’s the water wastage like? That’s what puts me off an RO unit. Environmental friendly wise. Already use a lot of water so not sure I can justify the waste water these produce. Especially this day and age
Completely agree mate that's what has always made me sceptical about RO units, they have their place but I think it depends on what you want to get out of using it ultimately. I did a water test in the video on waste so definitely check it out if you haven't 👍
Why do people make videos of things they know nothing about without reading the instructions first?
You just made yourself look a fool trying to get those connection stoppers out without first compressing the lock washer. Its sooooooo simple if you read the instruction first.
Still its a good info video to learn people to read instructions before attempting to use new gear.
yep thats a unit i wont be buying
