Dex has a very powerful father who has mapped out his life for him, a mother who suffers from depression whohe has taken care of, emotionally, all his life. He can't bring himself to go against his family, even though he loves Rachel.. and his father approves of Darcy since she's also from 'money and power'....while Rachel was a scholarship student with no connections......but i love the movie, have watched it several times, and was happy with the ending...

Unfortunately, the heart wants what it wants. And just because Ethan was wonderful, doesn't mean he was meant for Rachel, as we would find out in the sequel.
Favorite scene of the entire film other than the Ethan confession scene. Johns acting skills blew all the other actors out of the water. He made this movie incredible

I agree! The character doesn’t choose him because she’s dumb, but as an audience member, I agree he is 100% hotter than the other guy who is cheating on Kate Hudson with her (I don’t even remember his name!) Same thing happened with Sex and the City when Carrie cheated on Aiden. The entire audience was like, “Carrie you are a moron!” But that’s the character.
Its not just in the movie, but also in reality. We never fall in love with the person who care and love us the most. If I don't end up with the guy I love the most than I just find a new guy who is not my best friend like "Ethan". Because we will never forget our first love and crush forever no matter what!!
Dex looks like tom cruise in this scene. (Also this movie is absolutely terrible in all respects. You don't turn down john krasinski for a poor man's tom cruise who's a cheating ass.)

John and Kate in Some Blue would have put Something Borrowed in the shadow. John and Kate almost put this movie in the top. I think the major blow to this film that way that was scripted. The end of the movie was totally cheap and simple and made the film to fail
