Bounty 1100 Metal Detector battery issues

Anyone else having issues with their Bounty 1100 metal detector? I couldn't fit the standard 9v square batteries into it.
I actually had to take the dremel to it and cut some plastic off. Then jam folded up paper into it to make them stay in place.
I would NOT recomend this metal detector to anyone. It's not worth the metal used to make it.
