    Well Pete, I think I found the problem. I was using a 1.3 lph nozzle in the ws. Once I changed to the 1.4, all is much better. The pattern is more elliptical than the LPH but,it's as large and much more even than using the 1.3. It just wouldn't spray with a LPH 1.3 nozzle in it

    Another great video Pete, considering you was spraying at an angle you got a very nice finish on that, although it looks uncomfortable and almost kackhanded but you managed to pull it off, nice colour this on as well, I think we can see more on the screen than you can depending on how big you editing screen is, and the finish does look very nice the colour does hide it a lot but you can catch a glimpse of it at the right angle as you was panning over. Cheers mate.

      @peteshobbies5383  Před rokem

      Hi Steve, yeah, it was a really good finish, I don't think on this you need to change the position of the gun because having the new version now the pattern is the same regardless, due to the lower pressure I think and the different tip, didn't know that when I did the video but its a very good slow clear gun.
      My editing screen is my phone so you're probably able to see more than me on a big screen, cheers mate 👍

    Hello Pete. Well, I tried the ws400 this morning with the LS05 cap as well as the ws01 cap with the LPH400 nozzle and I'm sad to say it's not even close in performance to my trusty old LPH400. Pattern is much smaller and spray pattern isn't close to being as even. So I think I'm done trying to find a better gun that what I've been using for 15 years. The only gun I've yet to try is the devilfish GTI but, I have the DV1 with both clears caps and it isn't as good either in my opinion. It's a fantastic base coat gun but my Iwata LPH400 1.4 will remain my go to gun for clear. Again merry Christmas and a Happy New year. 🤙

      @peteshobbies5383  Před rokem

      Hi David, that's a shame but it was worth a try, hopefully, you'll recoup most of your money selling the cap.
      Sounds like improving on what you have just isn't possible, as you say, maybe it's time to give up trying, have a good Christmas, hopefully, it is not too cold where you are, I know some of the Northern States are having it bad at the moment, cheers mate 👍

  • @watchthisspacecarchannel6523

    Hello Pete , how are you , i hope all is well with you and your family , I've wondered why it took you so long to try the LS400 with clear , I saw the Gunman use his Black Momba( Special edition LS400) quiet time time ago for clear and it looked to give excellent results so while I've really wanted to get the WS400 for a very long time now , and mostly due to monetary constraints, i tried the LS400 for clear and have also been more than happy with the results I only turn up the pressure slightly for the clears from the recommended 26 psi up to 28 psi just to help with the thicker clear versus base coat, but all in all I still want to get the WS400 but I'll just get the series 2 as the tip alignment is where is suppose to be , but I'll just keep the original LS400 as I find it does a nice job with base , loved the video , seeing your pattern test I might revisit the idea on my LS400 just to see again because its been a while I don't remember it being to bad at all , worth checking out to make sure. Cheers Mate

      Hi Roger, yes, all is good here mate thank you.
      I didn't see that video of The Gunman, I'll have to look it up, it was just a few people had contacted me and asked if i had tried it which i hadn't so that's how i got there, as you say, it's very good.
      Now having the Series2 I wouldn't have bothered changing the angle of the tip, having used the 2 of them there doesn't seem any difference between them whereas the WS400 does benefit from the tip alignment.
      Hope alls is well with you mate, cheers 👍

      The Iwata W400 WB2 is a very good base gun as is the LS400, they both use a lot of air though so bare that in mind, WBX is better for clear, it will do base but the other 2 are a bit better

      @peteshobbies5383  Před rokem

      Hi David, I haven't tried the LS400 cap with a WS400 tip yet but with a complete LS400 setup then it is certainly as good and better if you want more control as it's slower, it also uses a little less material, I've always used the LS400 for basecoat until a few people said I really need to try it for clear and it is very very good 👍

I have a question for you, i'm looking for an Iwata ls400 Supernova and i'm wondering if with a 9.5 cfm i will be able to run it ? I work with a R500 AEROPRO and i have just enough cfm to run it. Hi Erick, Haven't been to Canada for years. Last time was a motorcycle trip over the other side from you in BC, through the Rockys. It was great fun 😀
      Thank you for watching the videos, I genuinely enjoy making them mate 👍
      Unfortunately, with the LS400, you are looking at the most air hungry gun there is, only being equalled by the Devilbiss Tekna Pro Lite with the HV30 cap and the Sata X5500 & 5000 HVLP guns, it needs around 16.5cfm at 1.8 bar and a high air flow rate, they are very good guns but not if your air supply is restricted.
      The Anest Iwata Kiwami4 BA4J is around the same air consumption as the Aeropro R500, although you won't notice a big difference in performance, but it is a good all run gun.

    Hi Pete, well that was a surprise I wasn't expecting the LS to lay clearcoat that well mate it looks really nice even though as you say it's the wrong colour us professional painters (cough!! cough!!😁) can see that the clear is really flat, you mentioned that the LS uses around 16CFM which is the same as the X5500 I'm assuming you mean the HVLP and not the RP as my RP is fairly good on air🤔
    Had to laugh when you said about things being a bit stiff at your age mate, I'm older than you and at my age certain body parts are not stiff enough so looks like your doing ok mate🧐🙈😂
    Thanks again for the message today Pete that was very kind of you to ask🙏🙏👍

      @peteshobbies5383  Před rokem

      Hi John, yes, very surprising, a few people had said to try it as they think I'll be impressed and I was, no need to hold it at an angle either as the old and new spray are the same, I thought they might as the pressure is lower and the tip air holes are smaller.
      Yes, was thinking the HVLP re the Sata, should have mentioned that really , the LS is HVLP so comparable, think the RP is around 12.5, about the same as the WS iwata, it's very noticeable, the Devilbiss HV30 cap is another one that springs to mind in the 16 to 17 cfm range.
      Thought I would message as I was getting Instagram tag withdrawal symptoms 🤣

      Hey Pete, I saw your reply yesterday but being a senile old git I totally forgot to reply🙄 yeah the LS did a great job on the clear mate looked mint to me, have you tried it the other way round using the WS400 clear gun (not OBS) for base, knowing me you have and I've totally forgotten I've watched it, I'm thinking the WS would be a bit slow for base🤔
      Primed another wing this morning but had a bit of a disaster, in fact it was a bit dangerous as the pipe from my belt reg that goes to my mask split when I was in the booth so I was getting three quarters clean air and the rest was paint fumes, like an idiot I kept painting as I had a mix on the go, I was holding the split in the pipe closed with one hand and using the paint gun in the other😱I ended up with a head ache and a saw throat so will never do that again it's not worth it😬🤦‍♂😂
      Cheers Pete👍

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  Před rokem

      Hi John, The heater hasn't arrived yet, according to the tracking its at my local depot and has been since yesterday so I suspect they are using it to warm the place up 😂🤣
      Yes, I have tried the WS400 Clear for base and it over atomises, puts it on dry and because its thinner than clear coat the fan splitting is worse, so you turn the pressure down and its better but not particularly good.
      This was the way Iwata originally sent them out for base and clear, totally the same apart from base or clear written on then, then they bought out the OBS which was the same but smaller holes in the tip, that sorted it out so it you put a obs tip in a WS you have a complete OBS.
      Hopefully you'll be fine in a day or so but you did exactly what I would do so don't feel too aggrieved, it's what we do but not always the the best

      @JohnWD40TC02 Před rokem +1

      Mate I hate that when the tracking says it's in your local depot, I had one parcel that was about 2 miles from my house and it sat there for three days before they decided to deliver it, I was tempted to go and get it myself🤦‍♂😤
      I often wonder if the series2 OBS tip set will fit in my gun but is it the same air cap, I did ask in the SPN FB group but got zero replies😭 I had a 1.4HD tip set arrive the other day for my WS so it will be interesting to see if it will be any better for the 6050, I hope it is as it cost me £160😱😂
      I feel fine now but it wasn't a nice experience.

      Yes, I'm thinking the same re the new OBS, I think the cap will be the same as the WS but with different markings, manufacturers love doing that to make people feel they have got something different.
      It's next on my shopping list so I'll let you know if I get one before you, not paying the full price so I'll wait for one to come up, cheers John 👍

      Hi David, the LS400 has the 05 cap which is the HVLP cap, as far as i remember the Series2 LS400 has the 06 cap, 01 is the original WS400 and 02 is the Series2 WS400. I don't know what the Series2 OBS gun has as i haven't got one yet but will do in the new year.
      Having said that, the new and old cap from each model look the same except the bezel on the outside which has a different thread

      @@peteshobbies5383 good to know. I think I'll buy that cap and try to convert my ws to an ls. Couldn't be anything more than the cap.

      It would depend on the basecoat and conditions and speed the painter wanted to go at, but you should be able to make it work.
      None of these put out loads of material, so it should be ok.
      I've only used the LS400 in 1.2 and 1.3, which seems to do what I want
