  • Out here in Goethe State Forest exploring the woods, so much to see here in this wilderness. I went off the beaten path and discovered where a possible homestead site may have existed here in the past. I could observe some overgrown pathways around the area probably old roads used to get out here at one time. It’s nice to follow them to see where they lead. Along the way I discovered what an appears to be an old cistern or well. Used a water source here at the homestead. The area may have been used for different purposes in the past. Goethe State Forest is a great place to roam with an array of recreational opportunities for everyone to enjoy. I really enjoy exploring here, learning and discovering about the past while taking in the surrounding nature.

I like the relaxed, quiet feeling of these videos. The laidback pace and thoughtful narration create a very peaceful and soothing atmosphere. It's such a great way to showcase the beauty of Florida's back country.

Never know what you might find on your hikes. The well sure was dry. Can only imagine when it was last used. Perhaps several families living in that area. Nature sure has it ways of reclaiming land. Weathers is unpredictable. Especially back then.
Last month Royal Springs was completely dark from the Suwannee River overflow. Looked at how beautiful and clear it was a year ago yesterday on my pictures.
Thanks for all the great videos. You bring out the adventurous spirit in a lot of us.

Where is this homestead within Goethe? I do reptile surveys within Goethe, it's conservation geared. Very respectful when in nature, was just simply curious. If it's not appropriate to give the location, no worries at all, totally understand! Another great video!

Good little trek. I haven't been there yet. Hope you didn't get into any of that poison ivy around the well.
