Yes, I was hoping you would make a video like this. I think some things that help the process are
    1 using enough dye
2 dying the figure long enough at high enough heat. (But not too high).
3 as soon as you take it out of the dye give it an ice water bath to help seal the dye.
4 after the ice bath wash the figure with warm soapy water gradually reducing the heat to cold. In the beginning you will probably see some color ways off that’s ok.
5 if the color is not saturated to the point you want them repeat the process.
6 and to finish I always seal with Mr. Super clear Matt spray. Because if you’re storing these figures in any kind of bin with other figures you will likely get some color transfer.
    Hope this helps.

I've treated the Spiderman figure as well a few days ago. The strange thing is, like yours, it starts to fade from really-really-dark grey to some sort of dark bronze shade. First I thought it was the red underneath coming through, but it's even on the legs, which are originally blue. Maybe I'll thry a second round.
While it doesn't turn out perfectly (first run), it was still a fun process and if anything, it's a way to prime your figure before going over it with a different paint. This method will get into all kinds of places where regular paint can't reach or interfeires with joints.

Yeah I’ve actually been trying different methods. Dyeing then painting to prevent rub and dyeing and using a sealer but it takes time to get results on which is gonna work long term

Some people dye figures for multiple hours, so 30 minutes may not be nearly enough. Also, wash and scrub the figures before and after dying to minimize bleeding and rubbing color onto other parts. There are many variables and factors, and with plastic you have an ongoing chemical reaction so there are no guarantees.

That is great information! I did 30 minutes in this particular video because a ton of people have been some how destroying this exact Spider-Man figure by leaving it to dye to long. I appreciate your comment!

Hi, I believe, the dyed joints on Spider-man are not faded because it is PVC, a more flexible plastic which is more porous than the other parts which is ABS plastic. I am curious, I think, you can prevent fading of dye, if you add 10% of Acetone into the dye mix before soaking the figure in it. High concentration of Acetone will melt plastic, but diluting it should make it mild enough so the dye will be etched better to the surface of the ABS. I hope one day you would do another experiment. Have fun!

Would re-dying the Marvel Legends possibly fix the issue? Wondering if Spider-Man would end up in the same situation if he was dyed in black again. Also, have you tried giving the figures a warm wash with soap or sanding any before dyeing to see if that helps?

I’ve been told using a sealer after dying would help, so I’m going to make a video trying that and maybe hopefully it does the job!

has anyone used the rit color stay treatment after dyeing? does it do anything?

Work on a video using different sealers but I sadly have to wait a couple months to get results. So far I’ve had success with a spray on sealer from michaels
