  • #ilovervlife #cherrytrees #maconga There's a very unique event that occurs every Spring in Macon, GA - a cherry tree explosion where over 350,000 Yoshino cherry trees go into full bloom for a couple of weeks. Virtually, every street, road, highway and neighborhood is lined with the beautiful blooms. It's an amazing site. We were filming in Macon during the bloom and road around a few areas to share this very unique site.

      Lynda, this usually happens around the last 2 weeks of March. Depends on temps. Unfortunately, they are about done. Downtown has a little left. Dogwoods and azaleas are just starting to pop. Driving around yesterday, Joan and I were starting to see the second wave of color. Macon is a very pretty place in the Spring. Happy Easter.

  • @lcsjourneyofdiscovery9049

    Hi Jerry. I'll try to keep this short.
    Someone left a very nice comment on one of our videos yesterday that was extremely encouraging to us (our channel is new, so there's a lot of work to creating videos and not a lot of subscribers yet). I responded by telling them how encouraging they were to us, and that subscribers can be so helpful and inspiring to those of us creating content, and I encouraged them to use their gracious words to encourage other channels they watch as well.
    After thinking about it for a while, I thought I should take my own advice, so that's why I'm writing to you. Before we began RVing in 2020, we watched many, many channels -- some big, some not. We actually started watching you over a year ago because we loved the simplicity of your channel and the homespun way you presented information. You became a staple in our nightly CZcams watching schedule. We'd sit down in the evenings and ask each other, "Any new Jerrys tonight?", as if you weren't a proper noun anymore but instead represented a viewing experience that was relaxing, enjoyable, and down-to-earth. We used "some kind of pretty" in our everyday lexicon, just to pay homage to you, and maybe just to have fun with it. "Look at that car dealership over there. That is some kind of pretty, isn't it? Oh my." We weren't making fun of you. It was more that you became inculcated into our everyday communication.
    I said all this to say, thank you for being a part of our lives for the last year. Since starting our own channel, we are well aware of the amount of work required to create videos on a regular basis. There is so much to consider, from coming up with itineraries, to deciding what to film, to creating an editing plan, to trying desperately to stay interesting to the viewer. You have done all that with immense grace, (sometimes corny but adorable) humor, and intelligence. You may not be the biggest channel out there, or maybe even the most exciting, but you're one of OUR "family", and you've been important enough in educating, entertaining and encouraging us that we have "noun-ed" you into our everyday language.
    So thank you! We'll probably never meet (although we're only a state away) but we want you to know that amongst the many thousands of people you've helped over the last few years, there are those of us who very deeply appreciate all your efforts. And that, my friend, is "some kind of pretty."

      @iLoveRVlife  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Leo and Charlotte. This is one of the nicest comments we’ve ever had. It can be a task to create content, but we decided a couple years ago that we’d share our travels and tips with a positive light with hopes that a few would enjoy the places we travel with a little help how to do things along the way.
      I think everyone who has a channel wonders “should we continue”. But it’s folks like you that take a few minutes to share or when we meet viewers in a campground that keeps us striving to find interesting content to share. The last 12 months have added to the challenges for so many of us, but we still found ways share to the fun of RV life.
      Thank you again for the kind comment and being a recurring viewer. We’ll continue to work hard to keep it interesting for you all and others like us. Safe travels. Jerry and Joan

    Spectacular, thank you for sharing. Do the trees turn green after the blossoms fall?

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  Před 3 lety

      They do turn green. We have pink for about 10 days. At the end, the blossoms shed over a day or 2 and they have a pretty green leaf.

  • @huntingscopes
    @huntingscopes Před 3 lety

    Wonderful. Will be planting some real soon here.
    Jerry, we noticed you use a padlock to secure your fifth wheel hitch prior to departure. Is this for security or safety? or both? Do you also padlock the hitch to rails on base of truck bed??

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  Před 3 lety

      Interesting you noticed. Both. It’s for a “just in case” to keep the hitch in a closed position on bumpy roads. Second is security. There’s a number of videos on CZcams that shows someone who was parked at a rest stop or truck stop and someone thought it would be funny to pull the unlock level and watch what happens when they try to pull out of the parking lot. May never happen, but again...just in case.

    Been retired and relocated to Southern Alabama over 2 years now. Yes Spring is enjoyable to witness but have two issues with RV exterior maintenance. What do you recommend for detergent to remove Oak pollen that covers and sticks heavily on fiberglass and plastic trim? And secondly, your remedy for alteration of vent covers to keep out Mud Daubers. Thank you for all your great videos on RV's.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  Před 3 lety

      Thanks a bunch. The pollen is a mess in the south. I like Meguiar’s Car Wash amzn.to/3rMvpXM A tad pricey, but a gallon lasts quite a while. Does a good job using a soft car brush amzn.to/31KcnXe Both are easy on the finish. I purchased these covers for the heater and water heater covers. Been using for a while. No problem with wasps getting in. amzn.to/3fJDDO1 and amzn.to/3sRi5T9

    Lovely. Here in Wisconsin, flowering crabs are more common. They have a longer bloom time, as there are many different varieties. I worry about the lack of biodiversity--what if there is a bug that discovers it loves those flowering cherries? We've had problems with emerald ash borers up here. It's been like another Dutch Elm plague.

      We call it the “yellow river”. The pines paint the streets yellow. But, these year we’ve had a break somewhat. We’ve had windy rain each week. Has made it a little more manageable.
