I wake up at 4 am and go to my studio and paint. I stay there for 4 hours, this enables me to get a lot done. Then I drink tea and go out iny garden and do an hour or so outside working in the fresh air I meditate after 3 pm, my day winds down after that . I try to get everything done in the morning and early afternoon.Reading and journalling and meal prep takes up the rest of the afternoon.I go to bed early.
I put all of the unread books on my shelf in a separate box. Now when I wake up, I make tea, leave my phone inside with a 20 minute alarm set, and spend that time on the balcony, reading one of those books. After that, I do a couple Duolingo lessons. Then, I start the rest of my day.
Here in the US, life can get very cluttered and materialistic, so I greatly appreciate your very uplifting and beautiful perspectives. Thank you for your inspiring videos!
We have mandatory five prayers across the day, from before sunrise to after darkness. 1- I try to add a mid morning prayer (Dhuha) as a means of thanking God for all the blessings, which I could never count. 2- Also I do morning & evening Dhikr. 3- read from my current book for about 30-60 minutes 4- I try to postpone coffee to award myself and to take advantage of the natural morning cortisol rise.
I start my day with a quart of water 💦 Then read my Bible. I practice Wim Hoff breathing each day. I make one quilt block a day and make time for free reading. Blessings to you. Thank you for the video.
I have been feeling overwhelmed lately as I have been going through major changes in my life right now and watching your videos has really helped me to find new things to do so I do and practice more minimalistic qualities in my life so I do not feel as overwhelmed. I am just starting this journey so I know I have room to grow, but that's exciting.
Your videos are always a lovely addition to my day! A few of my habits: 1) reciting mantra with mala beads first thing in the morning and right before I go to bed, 2) taking 5-10 minutes in the middle of the day to breathe, pray, and recenter, 3) nibbling on wild edible plants whenever I pass them, and 4) making at least one jar of herbal tea each day
Hi Samurai Matcha. Your videos are amazing and inspirational. Here are a few habits which I feel have improved my life: wake up at 5am (like you), drink a pint of water first thing (rehydrate and start up my system), 30 minutes yoga and 30 minutes meditation before breakfast, 5 minutes of vocal warm ups (as a teacher I need a healthy throat and voice box), turn off all electronics, read 20 minutes or more daily, take to time to feel grateful for my life, turn the shower to coldest setting for the final 3 minutes, average 7000+ daily steps each week, enjoy and appreciate nature. Thanks from Scotland!
Absolutely grateful for finding this channel! Sometimes it's shocking that you find something so precious just by accident. Actually I'm already implement some things in my life after watching your vids! And I'm also grateful for your work, thank you Aki!
Love waking up early, I started getting up at 5am in the summers so I can walk my dog before it gets too hot ( live in Texas) and its become a crucial part of my routine. My second favorite habit is drinking a gallon of water everyday.
Favorite youtuber ever! Thank you for another great video. After starting to drink matcha tea, after watching your videos, it has helped me to focus and taken care of my health too. I wake up at 4, try to be a minimalist and find it easier to write to do list too. You are always so inspiring! I will be getting rid of my bed too and try to become extreme minimalist because it helps me to find things and life is much easier with extreme minimalism. Thank you Aki! Always happy to see these amazing videos! 🇮🇳
1. Wake up at 5 a.m. That’s my cat’s bodyclock . It’s pitchblack here at 5 in the morning. Try in spring. 2. Drink macha. Something unavailable in my part . Can it be substituted for a good coffee? 3. Minimalism. I like. But I live with others, including a hoarding husband and a demanding cat. Also I have many crafty hobbies. Any tips? 4. Todo list. Yes, on my iPad. sometimes, but not rigid. 5. Secret diary. I had one when I was girlie, it had a tiny padlock and and even tinier key ….I loved writing poetry . oh, those long gone days… 😊 6. Typing speeds and practice, beware of RSI (repetitive strain injury) although it’s mostly mouse related… 7. Pomodoro, mmm don’t really need another guide in my life. But wishing you well!
I live alone and recently stopped using the dishwasher. I began washing, drying and putting away the dishes after meals. It slows me down, makes my movements efficient, gives me time to think, and keeps me on my feet (and off the sofa). Thanks for all of the good advice!
I always allow myself playtime, in my case painting, drawing, art journalling. I have mobility issues so moving presents lots of difficulty, it is probable that your runs/walks do the same for you. I find this helps my mind freewheel, expand and rest at the same time. Then one day a week I have a longer play date. I also write my morning pages, see The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. I write these before my mind has become full of the day’s needs and have found it a great way to get to know myself better. These pages are similar to your secret journal as they are private. I usually paint over the pages when I have finished the book. This saves the paper and means that they are no longer readable. Thank you for your videos.
Each evening I decide what I will eat the next day. I also check the weather forecast and then pick out my clothes for the next day. I start my day with light exercises and drink a litre of water. This all minimizes morning stress. I was waking at different times but have decided to set my alarm for 5 a.m. each morning as I believe a regular time is healthier (as your video reminded me.) Thanks for this life-enhancing advice.
wonderful information tq for sharing with us, fyi, as a muslim we have been thought to wake up early in the morning to perform our solat (prayer) so what i do around 5.30am perform my solat, put a money in my charity box, reading a quran at least 2 pages and perform my morning dzikir (make a list of doa) and go to to work, before i sleep i do the same thing as well except this time i did not put a money in my charity box..my life is so calm doing it everyday knowing i have a purpose in my life.
I'm in complete awe of this. I read a book with a similar message, and it was astonishing. "The Joy of Less: A Minimalist Living Guide" by Matthew Cove
I’m a minimalist-in-progress and I love your videos which give me so much encouragement so thank you! Your room is beautiful…the wood floors and wood on the walls create so much warmth! Thank you! ❤
I combine the to-do list and journal into a bullet journal. Not a fancy one as we can see many doing on the internet but a very basic one. This way, everything is on the same place: calendar, contacts, monthly schedule, weekly schedule, daily tasks. Before, everything was on my computer or phone but I prefer now the journal as it keeps me away from electronics when I don't need to use them otherwise, which is a good thing for me as I don't end up on Facebook or CZcams with an initial intention of checking a date.
Dear Aki I recommend writing the to-do’s the day before, ideally before or after lunch. Also, it’s good to prioritize the tasks on the list. That way you know exactly what the next day holds in stock regarding tasks and work that need to be completed. Also I just remain in the flow instead of having to focus in the morning and figuring organization out ;) Thank you for your utterly delightful videos! 🪷
I enjoy your videos very much! I do pick up garage too in a morning during my runs or just after it. I love how your organized your days and things in your life so it support you in your goals. I love your video about Japan ! Thank you! Best wishes!🌏🌈🙏🌷🌸
My favorite habit is to start my day by “Writing Myself a Letter!” (I keep these letters in a Journal.) If you do this, you can give yourself all of the love and support you need - or, sometimes, I just write about my favorite things and why they make me happy. You can start your day thinking about happy, positive things - AND learn a LOT “about” yourself! 😊✨ (Occasionally, if I find myself going through other “difficult” emotions - I like to use metaphors to explore these emotions, such as: pain and sadness, anger, and/or fear. But, almost always, I try to start my day feeling happiness. :)
Hi Aki, I loved your video as always, your camera work is amazing and your voice is soothing. I like to set a timer to work out every hour, between 10am and 4pm, that way i remember to stop focusing on work for a while and get my body moving. thanks for your inspiration
Thanks for this great video, Aki. I am about to do a mid-year reset for my life and space, as clutter has gotten to be too much for me. I consider myself a minimalist, but would like to have even less, so this video has given me some great ideas for where I can improve.
More great advice! Thank you! I am working on cleaning up after myself. After I finish a task I clean up and put things away. To have your home in order is wonderful!
after watching your videos, i have been preparing and drinking matcha every morning between 5-6 am with a prayer of gratitude. i started two weeks ago! thank you for the positivity and motivation
My father taught me to make this To Do List every day and that really helped me in my work. After marriage I used to make 2 To Do Lists, one for office and one for home. Home would be on my fridge door. Once my mother in law noticed and said I often find ticks on your office list. But once in a while tick should come on home list as well. Jokingly of course😅
I'm enjoying your videos...the content, your creativity, your positive, uplifting attitude is so inspiring (and needed) these days!!! Thanks, so much!! 🇺🇸❤
Thanks a lot Sir, your videos change my habits and my life. There is a lot of positive habits for our lives from your videos. I wish you all the best ❤🙏
Thank you for another inspiring video!!! I like the idea of having a highlight task to accomplish every day. My To Do list is so long, I never complete everything, and it can be discouraging. Now I will decide my highlight task, and I will be glad to get the most important thing done, even if other items remain on my to-do list. 😌

I love your channel! On your suggestion, I have added a few minutes of exercise to my morning routine - - yes, it helps hugely to wake me up and get me focused. I'm going to try that 25/5 trick - - it sounds like a winner.
Thank you for sharing, I will try especially pomodoro method. I feel lack of focus because I often multitasking. This remind me it will be better if you focus and do step by step perfectly.
Love your channel! I try to start the day with something really creative. For a long time i wrote a poem after waking up. That was wonderful. Then over years i meditated to start my day. Now i am thinking about a change. I want to do something more expressive again. Singing could be an option or may be drawing something small to welcome every new day.

Before I get up from bed I focus on my gratitude for all the people and things that I have in my life. Even if times are hard, I take them as a source of knowledge
Já disse que amo o fato que tu te preocupa em ter respaldo científico nos assuntos, Aki? Eu amo isso, é um diferencial enorme mesmo que seja num vídeo de 'experimento pessoal'. Obrigada 💖

I am grateful for your channel. I find your positive attitude and pleasant demeanor encouraging. You have my utmost respect. Thank you so much.
Já disse que amo o fato que tu te preocupa em ter respaldo científico nos assuntos, Aki? Eu amo isso, é um diferencial enorme mesmo que seja num vídeo de 'experimento pessoal'. Obrigada 💖

My habit is Sun,Wind and water. Every day feel the sun outside (even on rainy, snowy days the sun lights the sky) wind move or sit outside and there is always wind! and drink or connect to the water 🏊♂️ 🛀 -I just like the water! 😆
The HGL idea for journal entries is great!
